MARY CRIES Optical Compressor

Thank you and congratulations on purchasing the PRS Mary Cries Optical Compressor. Our pedals are made using the highest quality parts, ensuring the longevity and tonal fidelity that you have come to expect from a PRS product.
The Mary Cries Optical Compressor is the compressor pedal you’ve been searching for! Based on the storied LA-2A, Mary Cries is easy to use and sounds incredible.
This manual is your guide to getting set up quickly so you can start making music with your new pedal. In this manual we’ve included a suggested setting for guitar, a suggested setting for bass, and one of Paul Smith’s personal favorite settings. In our experience, this pedal sounds great wherever the dials are turned. We like to start with all the dials at noon and tweak from there to find the perfect setting. Explore and have fun.
To hear examples, please watch our videos on the PRS Guitars YouTube channel or visit the Mary Cries product page at www.prsguitars.com.
All of our pedals are designed by PRS Guitars in Stevensville, Maryland and assembled in the USA.

CONNECTING

  1. For optimum use, we recommend a regulated and/or isolated 9V DC power adapter that is rated higher than the pedal’s current rating (or collection of pedals if using a daisy chain configuration). Only use a 9V DC power supply with the following center negative symbol:
(Note: Battery Power – By removing the four screws on the rear panel, you can access the battery terminal and power the pedal via 9V DC battery).

  2. Input Jack – Plug the cable from your source into the input jack. (Note: When using a 9V battery, we recommend unplugging from the input jack to preserve battery power when not in use).

  3. Output Jack – Connect the cable from the output jack to another pedal or directly into your amplifier.
    BASIC OPERATION:

  4. True Bypass On/Off Switch – Use this to turn the effect on and off. (Note: True Bypass – This is a hardwire bypass allowing no coloration of your tone while the pedal is in the off position).

  5. Compression – Use this to adjust the compression level of your signal. Turn counterclockwise for less compression or clockwise for more compression.

  6. Output Gain – Adjusts the overall level of the compressed signal.

  7. Compression Indicator – Mary Cries uses an LED indicator to express where the compressors floor and ceiling are. You know you are at the floor when the LED is not
illuminated. The closer to the ceiling you get, the brighter the LED indicator becomes.
