Battery Replacement
- When a battery change is eventually required, remove both clear covers and both (strobe and LED torch) light units and push the battery carriage, from the torch end, out through the strobe end. To refit the battery carriage, perform the reverse of the above, ensuring that the line (on the inside of the torch body) locates within the track (on the back of the battery carriage) and the carriage fully locates within the body but leaving the metal ‘tab’ strobe contact visible, as this contacts with the side of the strobe unit base. Then refit the strobe unit and clear cover first, followed by the LED torch unit (and clear cover).
- Please Note – The ‘rubber washer’ at either end of the Strobe & Torch unit (between both clear covers and the body), is present to help prevent over tightening only, these are not ‘sealing’ rings.
- The sealing O-ring’s are internal and they both seal against the corresponding smooth faces, on the inside of the clear covers. Therefore, both clear covers should only be fitted ‘hand tight’, essentially, only tightened to the point that the cover naturally stops turning, for the O-ring’s to complete a water resistant seal. Further tightening will not increase the water resistance but it may compromise the seal.
- Whenever a battery change has been completed or whenever a clear cover is removed, please ensure that the O-ring is lightly lubricated (with a compatible grease) and after re-fitting the clear cover, a continuous ‘black’ sealing line can be seen around the inside edge of the cover.
If this is not the case, simply remove the clear cover and the O-ring, then carefully re-fit the (lightly greased) O-ring into its recess and carefully re-fit the clear cover as above (just until it naturally stops turning). This will usually resolve the sealing issue but if a continuous ‘black’ sealing line is still not visible, please contact us directly for further advice.
