Installation
- WARNING: Always disconnect the power source before attempting to install, service, or perform maintenance on the pump. Failure to do so may result in fatal electrical shock. Always disconnect the power source before servicing the pump.
- NOTICE: Your pump is designed and built to give you reliable performance and long life. It will pump water for years when properly installed in the right environment.
- NOTICE: A qualified electrician must perform all wiring.
Assembly: CMXWUSD61236, CMXWUSD61336 and CMXWUSD61536
- Garden Hose: Thread the 3/4 in. (19.05mm) garden hose adapter into the pump discharge. Attach a garden hose (sold separately) to the garden hose adapter. Extend the hose, making sure there are no kinks or tight bends. NOTE: To keep friction loss as low as possible, do not use a hose that is smaller than 1/2 in. (12.7mm) inside diameter.
- Other Hose or Pipe: Attach hose and fittings as required (sold separately) directly into the discharge. Extend the hose making sure there are no kinks or tight bends.
NOTE: To keep friction loss as low as possible, do not use a hose that is smaller than 1/2 in. (12.7mm) inside diameter.
Assembly: CMXWUSD61239, CMXWUSD61339 and CMXWUSD61539

Lay-Flat Hose: Thread the male camlock adapter (included) into the pump discharge. Connect the female camlock fitting (with the hose, included) to the male adapter and secure it. Extend the hose, making sure there are no kinks or tight bends in the hose.
-
Garden Hose: Thread the 3/4 in.
Other Hose or Pipe: Attach hose and fittings as required (sold separately) directly into the discharge. Extend the hose making sure there are no kinks or tight bends.
NOTE: To keep friction loss as low as possible, do not use a hose that is smaller than 1/2 in. (12.7mm) inside diameter.
Installation
- Install the pump on a hard-level surface in the water. If necessary, place bricks or patio blocks under the pump to raise them off the bottom. Do not place the pump directly in mud, sand, or silt.
Operation
- Connect the power cord to a 120-volt AC grounded GFCI receptacle.
- The pump requires approximately 2 in. (50.8 mm) of water to prime. Once primed the pump will drain down to approximately 1/2 in. (12.7mm) of the surface.
- The pump will continuously operate until disconnected from power. Do not let the pump run dry. The pump relies on water for lubrication and cooling. Operating the pump without water may cause the motor to overheat or cause damage to internal components. It may also shorten the life of the pump.
- The pump motor is thermally protected. It is not recommended for pumping liquids over 120°F (48.9°C). The thermal overload protector will automatically shut down the pump in an overheating/overload situation. The motor will reset itself once it cools. This device is designed as a safety device and should not be relied upon to operate the pump. The thermal overload will fail after repeated use.
- This pump is equipped with an anti-airlock hole. A stream of water will emit from this hole when the pump is operating. This is a normal feature of this pump. When a pump airlocks, it runs but does not move any water. An airlock will cause the pump to overheat and fail. If you suspect an airlock, unplug the pump, clean out the anti-airlock hole with a paper clip or piece of wire, and restart the pump. See figure 3.
Maintenance
- WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Always disconnect the power supply before attempting to install, service or perform maintenance on the pump.
- WARNING: All repairs must be made by a qualified technician.
- CAUTION: This submersible pump contains oil that may become pressurized and hot under normal operating conditions – allow the pump to cool for 2-3 hours before servicing.
- The pump motor is hermetically sealed in the housing and does not require any service. Disassembly of the motor housing or modification of the power cord voids the warranty.
- Periodically check the intake for obstructions. Clean if necessary.
- Inspect the power cord for signs of damage or wear. Do not operate the pump if the cord is damaged or worn.
- Clean off any accumulated sediment or debris to keep the pump in optimal operating condition.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Causes | How To Correct |
---|

| Pump is not plugged in, switch or breaker is off| Plug the pump in or turn
on the switch/breaker
Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers or tripped GFCI outlets|
Replace fuse, reset circuit breaker, reset GFCI outlet
Motor thermal protector tripped| Allow pump to cool. Pump will automatically reset
If the pump runs but moves little or no water
| Clogged intake| Remove clog or obstruction
Clogged discharge hose/pipe| Remove clog or obstruction
Impeller obstructed| Remove obstruction/debris
Frozen discharge hose/pipe| Allow hose/pipe to thaw
Pump is air locked| Check anti-airlock hole for clogs and clean if necessary
Low line voltage| Check wire size and increase if necessary
Worn, damaged or clogged pump parts| Inspect for wear, damage or clog and
clean or replace if necessary
Discharge height exceeds pump capacity| See the performance chart for pump
limitations
Performance
Height and/or piping restrictions will reduce the pump output performance. It is recommended to use the same size or larger pipe as the pump discharge for optimum performance.
