Please read the safety notes and the operating manual in full. To avoid danger you must pay attention to the safety and operating instructions. Melitta® is not liable for damage caused by ignoring these instructions.

Safety notice

  • This appliance is intended for use in households and for similar uses e.g.

    • in kitchens for employees in shops, offices and other commercial areas
    • on farms/ agricultural establishments
    • in motels, hotels and in other accommodation and bed and breakfast establishments
      Any other use is considered improper and can lead to personal injury or damage to property. Melitta® is not liable for damage caused by improper use. All other use is contrary to that intended and can lead to injury or damage.
  • The appliance must not be kept in a cupboard when in use.

  • Appliance is only to be used with the base provided.

  • Connect the appliance only to a correctly installed socket.

  • Place the appliance on a stable, even and dry surface.

  • The maximum filling level indicated on the appliance should not be exceeded. If this maximum filling level is exceeded hot milk could overflow and cause burns or scalding. Max. filling level for frothed milk: 150 ml, Max. filling level for warm milk: 250 ml (see level indicators on appliance).

  • Only use the milk frother to prepare hot / cold frothed milk or to heat milk, do not use to heat other liquids.

  • Avoid contact between milk / water and the power cable and power connections.

  • Do not use the milk frother without the lid. Do not open the lid during use.

  • Never touch the appliance with wet hands or feet.

  • The inside of the milk frother gets very hot and remains hot for some time after use because of the heating element in it. Avoid contact with the inside of the milk frother.

  • Never immerse the appliance in water.

  • Do not clean parts which come into contact with water or coffee (e.g. water tank, filter, coffee pot) with abrasive cleaning materials or scouring cream. Remove detergent residues with clean water.

  • Please note the cleaning and care information at point 4.

  • The appliance should be disconnected from the power supply when it is left unsupervised or before being assembled or disassembled, or when cleaning.

  • Do not use the appliance if the power cable is damaged.

  • This appliance can be used by children who are 8 years old or over, if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers associated with it. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance should not be undertaken by children unless they are 8 years old or over and are supervised. The appliance and power cable should be kept away from children under 8 years old.

  • The appliance can be used by  people with limited physical, sensory or mental aptitude, or who have limited experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or instructed in how to use the appliance safely and have understood the dangers involved in using it.

  • Children must not play with the appliance.

  • Replacement of the power cable and all other repairs should only be carried out by Melitta® Customer Service personnel.

Before first use

  • Ensure that the power supply in your home corresponds to that on the model plate on the base of the appliance.
  • Connect the appliance to a power source.
  • All appliances have been tested during production to ensure they work perfectly. Before using the appliance for the first time you should rinse the milk container, the lid and the whisk with hot water then dry thoroughly.

  • Ensure that the appliance is connected to the power source.

  • Use the button to raise the lid ①.

  • Pour the desired amount of milk into the container. Pay attention to the min. and max. filling levels on the container ② as frothed milk expands and can overflow if the max. filling level is exceeded.

  • Fit the lid so that it is flush with the appliance ③.

  • Place the milk frother on its base.

  • Now start the appliance:
    1.Warm milk froth: Press the left button ( ) briefly (< 2 Sec.). It will light up red. The appliance starts ④.

    2.Cold milk froth: Press and hold the left button ( ) (> 2 Sec.). It will light up blue. The appliance starts ⑤ .

  • Keep the lid closed during preparation. To interrupt the appliance, lift the milk frother from its base or press the illuminated button again.

  • When milk preparation is completed the motor stops and the indicator light in the button goes off. The appliance turns off automatically.

  • Use the button to raise the lid.

  • Pour or spoon the frothed milk carefully out of the container ⑦.

  • Never use metal or sharp objects to remove the frothed milk as this can damage the non-stick coating.

  • Allow the milk frother to cool for at least 1 minute before using again.

Tip: With the Cremio you can also prepare warm cocoa. First put the required amount of milk in the container. Now add the amount of cocoa powder you would like. For best results, gently stir in the cocoa powder by hand with the whisk attached to the lid. Then place the lid flush on the appliance. Press the button on the right to start making your drink. Once your drink is ready the motor stops and the appliance turns itself off. Remove the lid and pour the cocoa into a cup.

Cleaning and maintenance

  • Before cleaning always remove the appliance from the power source.

  • Allow the milk frother to cool down completely before cleaning.

  • Clean the milk frother after each use. Cleaning is easier if you clean the appliances inmediately after use.

  • Never clean the container or base in the dishwasher or under running water.

  • Clean the outside of the appliance and the base with a soft, damp cloth.

  • Clean the inside of the milk frother with standard washing up liquid and a soft, damp cloth to avoid damaging the non-stick coating ⑧.

  • Clean the lid and the whisk in the dishwasher or by rinsing and wiping with a damp cloth. If necessary remove the seal on the lid.

  • Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

  • In the case of persistent soiling please use the Melitta® PERFECT CLEAN ESPRESSO MACHINES Milk System Cleaning Liquid (Fill 25 ml of the Milk System Cleaning Liquid into the appliance and add water up to 250 ml). Let the mixture of water and Melitta® PERFECT CLEAN ESPRESSO MACHINES Milk System Cleaning Liquid act upon for a few moments. Afterwards remove persistent soiling with a smooth cloth or sponge.

Tips for the best results

  • Use refrigerated milk to prepare your milk froth (7-8 °C).
  • You can use all kinds ofstandard milk variants(independent of fat level). Even soy or lactose free milk can be frothed perfectly with Melitta® Cremio®. The protein content is relevant for an excellent milk froth result. The higher the proportion the more stable and fine pored the result.
  • Choose milk with a protein content of at least 3 g per 100 g (you can find this information on the back of the milk carton).

Troubleshooting

Problem Cause Solution

The appliance does not turn on.

| The power cable is not plugged in.| Plug in the power cable.
In between use the appliance needs to cool down.| Wait for one minute and then start the appliance again.


The appliance stops prematurely, the indicator light flashes blue.

| The container is empty or is not filled to the min. level.| Rinse out the appliance and let it cool down.
The appliance is overheated.
There are burnt milk deposits on the base of the container.





The milk does not froth or hardly froths.

| The container is not filled to the min. level, the attachment does not come into contact with the milk.| Fill up until min. mark.
The maximum filling level for frothed milk is exceeded.| Fill the container no higher than the max. level for frothed milk.
You have selected the ‘warm milk’ feature.| Rinse the appliance and allow it to cool. Restart the appliance by pressing the left button briefly (< 2 sec.)

Then it should light up red.

The whisk is missing or the lid is not properly closed.| Fit the attachment to the whisk and close the lid properly. The lid must be flush with the appliance.
The milk you are using is not suitable for making frothed milk.| Choose milk with a protein content of at least 3 g per 100 g (you can find this information on the back of the milk carton).
Milk froth is overflowing out of the top of the appliance.| The appliance is overfilled.| Disconnect the plug. Let the appliance cool down and then clean it.
Milk is a natural product and the amount of frothed milk it produces can vary.| Reduce the fill quantity.
The appliance makes a loud noise when in use.| The lid is not properly fitted on the appliance.| Fit the lid so that it is flush with the appliance.

Notes on disposal

  • Appliances labelled with this symbol are subject to European guidelines for WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
  • Electric appliances do not go in the household bin. Dispose of the appliance in an environmentally friendly way using suitable collection systems.
  • Packaging materials are raw materials and can be recycled. Please recycle them.

Terms of guarantee

In addition to the legal guarantee claims, to which the end user is entitled relative to the seller, for this device, if it was purchased from a dealer authorized by Melitta® due to his consulting competence, we grant a manufacturer´s guarantee under the following conditions:

  1. The guarantee period begins with the day the product was sold to the end user. The guarantee is 24 months. The purchase date of the device must be verified by a purchase receipt. The device was designed and built for household use only. It is not dedicated for a commercial use. Guarantee performances lead neither to an extension of the guarantee period nor to a new beginning of the guarantee period for the device or installed spare parts.
  2. Within the guarantee period we will correct all device defects that are based on material or manufacturing errors, through repair or replacement of the device at our discretion. Replace parts become the property of Melitta®.
  3. Defects that occurred due to improper connection, improper handling, or repair attempts by nonauthorized persons are not covered by the guarantee. The same applies for failure to comply with the use, care, and maintenance instructions as well for the use of consumables (e.g. cleaning and decalcifying agents or waterfilters) that do not correspond to the original specifications. Wear parts (e.g. seals and valves) and fragile parts like glass are excluded from the guarantee.
  4. Guarantee performances are processed via the Service Hotlines for the respective country (see information below).
  5. These guarantee conditions apply for devices purchased and used in UK If devices are purchased in foreign countries or brought into foreign countries, then guarantee performances will only be provided as specified in the guarantee conditions applicable for this country
