Quick guide to Skinbased™ skis and EA 2.0 bindings by OAC:
Thank you for purchasing this OAC product. Below are a few notes to help you get the most out of your new Skinbased™ skis & bindings.

Mounting EA 2.0 binding

  • Pre-mounted bindings on Skinbased™ ski sets
  • Slide the toe strap under the baseplate, paying attention to left and right orientation (strap threads toward the outside of the foot, so that the buckle ends up on the outside – see illustration).
  • Push the front piece tightly into position. The front piece will secure the toe strap.
  • Mount the 23mm front ski screw by using a PZ3 screwdriver. Push the front piece towards the base unit simultaneously.
  • Slide the heel piece onto the flexplate (note the left & right binding).
  • Lock the heel piece to a chosen position by pressing the fasteners of the lever into the holes of the baseplate.

Mounting EA 2.0 binding on undrilled skis

  • The binding holes match the 75mm nordic norm pattern.
  • Use of a printed template or mounting jig is recommended.
  • The recommended binding mount position is with the front screw on the balance point of the ski. (Check mounting chart for Skinbased™ skis)
  • Select a drill bit based on your ski manufacturer’s recommendations (Skinbased™ skis: 4,1 /13mm)
  • Please check your ski manufacturer’s specifications before drilling!
  • We recommend using epoxy on the screws for additional strength.
  • Mount the base unit to the ski via the two rear screws. Position toe strap and front piece, then mount the front screw.
  • Please follow the attached illustration on how to correctly place the toe straps, front pieces, and heel units. Please also note the right and left binding
  • Select the 28mm Nordic screws (pink bag) for traditionally constructed skis. Do not use 28mm Nordic screws for Skinbased™ skis.
  • Select the 23mm Alpine screws (transparent bag) for metal-reinforced skis, such as Skinbased™ skis.
  • Firmly tighten binding screws with PZ3 screwdriver. Do not overtighten.

Use of EA 2.0 bindings

  • Binding length is correct when the boot fits into the binding without loading the spring.
An excessively tight setting makes it difficult to lift the heel and may result in damage to the binding.

  • Try different adjustments during use.

  • You will notice that a looser setting performs better in diagonal skiing and a tighter one excels in downhill skiing or in difficult terrain.

  • By experimenting, you will discover the binding’s full range of performance.

  • The length of the ankle strap can be adjusted by changing the position of the padded middle section.

  • The toe strap length can be adjusted by changing the position of the buckle.

  • Check all screws, straps, and spring units on a regular basis.

  • On expeditions, it is recommended to carry spare parts.

Expedition spares 2.0 (Item: 6430033892992)

  • It is possible for dirt or other debris to get into the heel piece mechanism and prevent the proper movement of the springs.
  • In this case you should remove the heel piece from the baseplate and clean the debris. Lubricate the plate and springs with silicon spray if needed.
  • For long-term storage it is recommended to remove the heel unit and to release the spring from tension.

Rubber springs 2.0 (Item: 6430033892985)

  • EA 2.0 binding is not an automatically releasable binding.
  • Use only with flexible-soled footwear.

Skinbased™ skis

  • Your skis are ready for use. Both the gliding surfaces and the skin area come pre-waxed.
  • We recommend using OAC’s EA 2.0 bindings with these skis.
  • To maintain the base, it is recommended to use either paste wax or liquid wax.
  • Do not use hot waxes / iron for maintaining the base.

Maintenance of the skin

  • We recommend using OAC Skin proof, by Nikwax, to maintain the skin. For maintenance in-the-field, use Skinbased™ Calming Skin Wax.
  • Do not touch the skin area with a hot iron.

Storage

Allow your skis to dry after use. Store skis & bindings in a clean, dry environment, out of direct sunlight/UV, and away from heat sources.

Limitations

  • These bindings are designed and tested for Nordic backcountry skiing in harsh conditions.
  • However, it is possible that any part of the binding could conceivably break if used improperly or in extremely challenging conditions.
  • This binding IS NOT an automatically releasable binding.
  • Bindings should not be used with stiff-soled shoes.
  • Do not use bindings with footwear that have a sole length over 37.5cm.
  • Do not use bindings in conditions that are colder than -30°C.
  • Bindings are not suitable for alpine skiing.
