INSTRUCTIONS
Guide to install the HCF and HCC on SP Series of printers.
Step 1 – Remove Lid and top foam of Packaging
Step 2 – Tilt the HCF/HCC out of the packaging and Remove plastic Wrap
from equipment.
Step 3 – Remove all blue packaging material holding down the media guides
and protecting the equipment.
Step 4 – Located in the base of the HCF/HCC is the accessories box.
Step 5 – Located in the HCF accessories box is the feeder height guide.
These decals are to be applied to the metal of the Printers under the MP tray
2 inches from the operator and none operator side. The bottom of the sticker
will line up with the bottom of the metal plate.
Step 6 – Remove MP Tray Extension by flexing the side of the tray.
Step 7 – Remove the Exit Tray Extension by removing the 2 screw circled
in red below, along with the plastic E clip located on the non operators side
of the tray, circled in yellow
Step 8 – Adjust the Leveling casters on the HCF until the arrows on the
feeders depth standoffs are in the green zone of the feeder height guide
decals
Step 9 – Insert the HCF into the printer while manually operating the
register board handle. Start with the handle at the right most position, this
is the highest height for the register board. When inserting the feeder into
the printer you want to lower the handle towards the left most position while
you insert the HCF into the printer. When the handle is in its lowest position
and the HCF is fully inserted into the printer you know the HCF is in the
running position.
Step 10 – Depending on the printers cabinet in use you can lock the rear
wheel to the HCF to keep it in the printer or use the supplied ball latches in
the accessories box to hold the HCF into the printer; (Note Ball latches can
not be used on the High Capacity trays.)
Step 11 – Give Attention to the brass hold down limiter on the
registration board. It should be screwed down till it touches the hold down
but not applying pressure to the metal strap.
Step 12 – In the printers menu, two settings need to be change to
facilitate the feeders operation.
- MENU -> MENUS -> PRINT ADJUST -> NARROW PAPER SPEED = Normal 2
- MENU -> CALIBRATION -> SPECIFIC MEDIA FEED MODE -> MP-TRAY – > 2
Step 13 – Adjust the hopper guides to size of media you are feeding. Use
the hopper guide knob to adjust the guides (note the lock down knob on the
operator side of the feeder.) The registration board guides can be moved by
hand. You want them close to the media at the bottom but loose at the top
because of the funnel shape of the guides.
Step 14 – On the HCF control panel.
- The main power switch is on the right.
- The left switch gives power to the motors
- The Ready button starts the envelopes down the Registration board and starts looking at the sensors. Adjust the speed settings to the standard setting of 3 for Com 10. You can adjust from there to a faster speed for longer media and a slower speed for shorter media.
Step 15 – The separator adjustment knob might need to adjusted tighter or
looser depending on how the media is coming out of the hooper guides. If it is
pulling doubles you need to adjust tighter or adjust looser if the media is
not feeding at all.
Step 16 – Attach the Media Stop to the end of the conveyor with the two
thumb screws already attached to the HCC
Step 17 – Roll conveyor to the output of printer and set the conveyor
speed setting to the standard 3 setting.
Installation is Complete
