PACE supply FTD5135 Freestanding Tub Drain

Rough-In – Wood Subfloor

  1. Cut 4″ hole into the wood sub-floor (use supplied cutout template).
  2. Affix drain body to sub-floor with 4 screws.
    • For concrete installations, use approved anchors and/or screws.
  3. Ensure the drain body is level.
  4. Use approved Oatey primer and cement to connect the drain body to the P-Trap below the floor:
    • If using a 2″ P-Trap, use supplied 1.5″ x 2″ Adapter.
  5. If using the Cast Iron version, connect the drain body to the tailpiece to code the approved connection method.

Testing

  1. Confirm pre-installed test plug is secured in the drain opening.
  2. Test for leaks.
  3. Leave the test plug in the drain opening and secure the protective cap over the drain assembly until ready to set the tub.

Flooring Installation

  1. Floor up to protective cap cover.
    • DO NOT remove until ready for tub installation.
  2. NOTE: NOT FOR USE with liquid applied or sheet membranes.

  • b. Quarter Turn Test Plug (pre-installed)

  • d. 1.5″ SCH 40 PVC/ABS Pipe (not supplied)
  • e. 1.5″ x 8″ Flanged Brass Tailpiece
  • f. 1.5″ x 8″ Threaded Brass Tailpiece
  • g. Slip Nut
  • h. Washer
  • i. 1.5″ PVC/ABS Threaded Adapter
  • j. 1.5″ x 2″ PVC/ABS Adapter
  • k. Lubricant (not shown)

Suggested Tools/Materials

  • 4″ Hole Saw
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape Measure
  • Approved Oatey Primer & Solvent Cement (if necessary)
  • Oatey Thread Sealant (if necessary)
  • SCH 40 Pipe Cutter (if necessary)

IMPORTANT

  • Must be installed in a dry area with no potential of water contact
  • The drain comes preassembled – disassembling will void the warranty

DEPENDING ON THE PREFERRED TUB DRAIN CONNECTION METHOD, SELECT THE BRASS TAILPIECE OR SCHEDULE 40 TUB INSTALLATION STEPS BELOW.

Brass Tailpiece Tub Installation

  1. Remove the protective cap cover and test plug (using a counterclockwise 1/4 turn) from the drain assembly and remove any existing debris.
  2. Confirm distance between the base of the tub drain and the base of the P-Trap will accommodate the supplied brass tailpieces.
  3. NOTE – DO NOT CUT THE SUPPLIED BRASS TAILPIECES.
  4. Depending on the tub drain, select a threaded or flanged tailpiece and connect it to the tub drain. Use ABS/PVC adapter as needed.
  5. If using a threaded tailpiece, use the approved Oatey Thread Sealant to create a seal.
  6. If using a flanged tailpiece, use supplied nut and washer.
  7. Apply supplied lubricant to the tailpiece.
  8. Carefully lower the Tub with the installed brass tailpiece into the drain opening. Ensure the tailpiece is fully engaged with the sealing mechanism.
  9. Ensure the tub base makes contact with the flooring.

Schedule 40 PVC/ABS Tub Installation

  1. Remove the protective cap cover and test plug (using a counterclockwise 1/4 turn) from the drain assembly and remove any existing debris.
  2. Measure the distance between the inside ledge of the drain flange to the top of the finished floor (DIM A).
  3. Measure the distance from the top of the finished floor to the inside of the sanitary hub (DIM B).
  4. Add these two measurements and an additional 1-1/2”. Cut the pipe to this length.
  5. Use recommended steps for solvent cementing which includes deburring and chamfering both sides of the pipe.
  6. Apply supplied lubricant to the pipe.
  7. Carefully lower the tub with the installed Schedule 40 pipe into the drain opening. Ensure the tailpiece is fully engaged with the sealing mechanism.

EXAMPLE:

  • Inside Ledge of Drain Flange to Top of Finished Floor – 1-1/4″
  • Top of Finished Floor to Inside Fitting Hub – 2-1/2″
  • Add an Additional 1-1/2″
  • Total Length of Pipe – 5-1/4″
