How to get started

It should only take you 15 minutes or less
1. Charge your sensor

Remove the magnetic mounting plate from the back of the sensor7
Remove the cover from the charging port. Use the attached USB-C cable to charge Minut. Once charged, make sure to secure the cover back on.

You can follow the charging progress by looking at the battery indicator at the back of the sensor. The lights will blink when charging, and turn solid when charged.
A full charge should take about 1-4 hours.

2. Download the app

Download the Minut app from app.minut.com, or by downloading the Android iOS or smartphone Minut appz
Open the app and create your account.
If you already have an account, just open the Minut app and log in.
Create your first home following the steps in the app7
Once your home is ready, tap on the “+” sign in the top right corner to start the installation process.

3. Install Minut

Peel off the sticker from the back of the mounting plate, and mount it to the ceiling or the wall7
Attach Minut to the magnetic mounting plate.
If you want to run your Minut permanently plugged in, connect it to the power outlet at this step.

General maintenance and Installation

Only clean the Minut Device with a dry cloth. The device is designed to operate indoors (0 to 50°C/32°F to 122°F). Avoid direct sunlight. Low temperatures may affect battery performance negatively. The USB port should be protected using the built-in plug when not in use. Do not wash or submerge the device under water. Do not tamper,
disassemble, paint, puncture, hammer, or drop the Minut Device as this may degrade performance or render Minut Device inoperable, void the warranty and the user’s authority to operate this equipment.
The Minut Device contains strong magnets used to attach the device to the ceiling. Avoid direct contact with objects sensitive to magnetic fields, such as hard drives (including laptops), credit cards, etc.
⚠ Safety Notice
Make sure that the mounting plate is securely attached to the underlying surface. Use a screw and the prepared mounting hole to fasten the plate if the surface is uneven or otherwise unsuitable for the adhesive tape. When attaching the sensor, make sure it aligns with the mounting plate. Failure to do the above may result in injury or damage to the sensor or property.
Estimated battery life is dependent on the Wi-Fi signal strength. Interference from walls, other electrical equipment, and Wi-Fi networks may reduce the estimated battery life.

Battery safety precaution

The built-in battery is not user-replaceable. Removal of the built-in battery invalidates the warranty and may destroy the device.
There is danger of explosion if the internal battery is not replaced correctly. An incorrect battery type can defeat built-in safeguards.
The battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
The battery can pose safety hazards when used, stored or transported in extremely high or low temperatures and in low air pressure at high altitude.
Disposing of the battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting the battery can result in an explosion.
Leaving the battery in an extremely high-temperature surrounding environment, or in an extremely low air pressure environment, may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

Recycling

The Minut Device contains a built-in, non-replaceable, lithium-ion battery. The WEEE symbol means that your device must be disposed of separately from general household waste. When it reaches its end of life, take it to a designated waste collection point in your area for safe disposal or recycling. By doing this, you’ll conserve natural resources, protect human health, and help the environment.

This is not a smoke alarm and Minut does not make a smoke alarm. To protect your home from such threats, please purchase and install separate fire and/or smoke alarms that comply with local regulatory requirements. The device DOES NOT conform to the regulatory requirements mandated for fire or smoke alarms, such as UL 217, EN14604 or any other regulatory requirement.

Limited Warranty for Hardware (the Minut Device) Only
We warrant to only the original end user of the Minut Device hardware that, when properly installed and operated, if the Minut Device hardware fails due to defects in material and workmanship within one (1) year from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace at no charge to you any components of the Minut Device that fail the limited warranty provided.
This is not a warranty that the performance of the Minut Device will be uninterrupted; available at any time or from a particular location; secure from unauthorized access or
harmful viruses; or free from errant messages, as all of these factors are dependent upon wireless signal or cellular network availability and the user’s particular installation needs.
You shall be responsible for any related transportation charges. Replacement products may be new or refurbished at our discretion. If your mandatory local law in effect at the time of purchase requires a warranty period longer than one (1) year, this warranty shall be extended to the extent required by such law. To the extent that any implied warranties cannot be disclaimed under applicable law, any such required implied warranty is limited to the maximum extent permitted by such laws. In the USA, any implied warranty that we cannot disclaim under law is limited to duration of the express warranty (or a lesser period if permitted by such law).
This limited warranty does not apply to (1) normal wear and tear, including scratches and dents; (2) consumable parts, such as batteries and protective coatings, included in the Minut Device; (3) damage resulting from your failure to use the Minut Device in accordance with the instructions accompanying the Minut Device or available at our Website (including the Minut User Manual and FAQ); (4) damage resulting from an accident, flood, fire, misuse, or abuse; (5) damage resulting from service performed, or damage resulting from tampering or alterations to the Minut Device, by anyone not authorized by us; (6) use of the Minut Device with any application or software other than the Minut Software; (7) non-residential use of the Minut Device; or (8) outdoor use of the Minut Device if the device model is not expressly intended for residential outdoor use.
You acknowledge that the Minut Service is only intended for normal residential use and not intended or suitable for use in environments where the failure or time delays of, or errors or inaccuracies in, the content, data or information provided by the Minut Service could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.
We retain the exclusive right to repair or replace the Minut Device, or offer a full refund, at our sole discretion. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, such remedy shall be your sole and exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty.
Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR ANY OF OUR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, COLLATERAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THOSE RESULTING FROM LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, FAILURE TO TRANSMIT OR RECEIVE ANY DATA, BURGLARY, FIRE, PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) ARISING OUT OF THE USE, INABILITY TO USE, OR THE RESULTS OF USE OF THE MINUT SERVICE, WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES ARE BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE MINUT SERVICE (REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION OR CLAIM, E.G. CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, NEGLIGENCE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY) IS LIMITED TO U.S. $100. The foregoing limitations will apply even if the above stated remedy fails of its essential purpose. In some locations applicable mandatory law may not allow certain of the limitations described above, in which case such limitations will apply to the maximum extent allowed by such applicable law.
