Smart Bed Cooling & Heating System
Welcome to the sleep fitness club
Sleep fitness is a real thing. It’s a state of overall health and well-being
fueled by quality sleep. Being sleep fit results in a feeling of restoration,
elevated energy levels and confidence. In short, being sleep fit enhances
performance in everything we humans do. Dr. Philip Gerhman from University of
Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine defines sleep fitness as, “the
extent to which we are getting sufficient quantity and quality of sleep to be
energized and functioning at peak levels during the day.”
Most of all, sleep fitness is actionable, measurable and achievable. It opens
room in the conversation for positive reinforcement and advocacy around sleep,
something that is missing from the current dialogue. We designed the Pod to
help you achieve sleep fitness. Like any habit, becoming sleep fit requires
discipline and time. The Pod is here to support you in your journey through
the best technology that sleep has ever seen.

Setting up the Encasement
1. Open Box 1. Unfold the Encasement and,
starting from the foot of the bed, tuck the corners of the
Encasement over the corners of the mattress like a fitted sheet.| 2. Make
sure that the Eight Sleep logo is at the bottom left corner of your bed.|
3.Pull down on each corner so that the
Encasement fits tightly against the mattress.
Important note
For the Encasement to work properly, it must be well fitted to the mattress
with no wrinkles or folds.
Stretch the top fabric until smooth and the corners fit well. Then, gently
pull the zipper toward the floor to smooth out the sides.
Setting up the Active Grid
1. Open Box 2 – Side A. Place the Active Grid on top of the Encasement.
Position its corners to match the top corners of the mattress first,
using the Top Left Corner sticker for orientation.| 2. You’ll notice the
Water Cord by the head of the bed. Unwind it, pull it
out and let it hang down to the floor without twisting.
3. Route the Water Cord through any slats in your foundation, as vertical as
possible to hit the ground. Ensure the neck of the Active Grid is flat against
the mattress.| 4. Starting from the left side at the head of the bed, zip the
Active Grid to the Encasement around the mattress.| 5. Slide one Tension
Strap beneath the mattress length-wise, lined up with the loops at the head
and foot of the Encasement.
6. Slide the other two Tension Straps beneath the mattress width-wise,
lining each up to a set of loops on the sides. Do not tighten any of the
Tension Straps yet!| 7. Hook all Straps to the loops, and pull down the
Straps to fasten. It is normal for the mattress to appear slightly indented.
Tuck the excess strap
underneath the mattress.
Important check
The Tension Straps should be tight enough that there is a slight crease in
your mattress. If the Tension Straps are not pulled tight, the sleep sensors
in your Pod may not work correctly!
Warning
Do not try to undo the zippers on the inside of the Active Grid.
Setting up the Hub
1. Open Box 2 – Side B, and take out the Hub and Power Cord. Pick a side of
the bed and place your Hub.| 2. Pull the Water Cord towards the Hub avoiding
any bends, twisting, or kinks.
3. Plug the Water Cord into the back of the Hub. Orient the USB cable towards
the right side when facing the back of the Hub. When secured, you should hear
one click for each side.| 4. Next, plug the USB connector into the USB port.|
5. Connect the Power Cord to the Hub and to a nearby outlet.
6. Follow the instructions in the Eight
Sleep app to connect your Hub to WiFi and create your account.| 7. After
pairing to Wi-Fi you will go through priming. Follow the instructions in the
app. If there is no water left in the reservoir after priming, refill it to
the max line.
Important note
Distilled water is ideal to keep your Pod clean and running efficiently. If
you don’t have distilled water available during setup, please switch to
distilled water during your next refill.
Each time you are prompted to fill the Water Tank, add 16 ounces (473 ml) of
3% hydrogen peroxide into the water.
If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide available during setup, please add it
within 1 week. Access instructions directly in the Eight Sleep App or contact
our Sleep Pros.

Maintenance Instructions
Hub
Approximately every two months, you will be prompted in the Eight
Sleep app to refill the Water Tank. Please follow the instructions below for
proper refilling and maintenance. Instructions will also be available in the
app. Before starting you must have on hand:
-
16 ounces (473 ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide.
-
½ gallon (2 L) of distilled water.
-
Remove the Water Tank from the Hub, and empty any water from it.
-
Unplug the Hub from the power outlet, and disconnect the Water Cord.
-
Using the Draining Tool, empty water from the Hub. See the app for visual reference. We recommend you do this over a sink or bucket.
-
Place the Hub back in place, reconnect the Water Cord and USB cable to the back and plug in the Power Cord. Wait a few seconds while the Hub reconnects to your Wi-Fi network – you will see the light turn steady white.
-
Add 12 fluid ounces (350 mL) of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the Water
Tank. Add approximately the same amount of distilled water to the
Water Tank. The tank should be about half full. -
Secure the lid and place the Water Tank back into the Hub.
-
Open the app, and head to Menu > Settings > Priming, and tap to being Priming.
-
After Priming has completed, remove the Water Tank, open the lid, and keeping the hydrogen peroxide inside the Water Tank, fill it with distilled water – up to 1 inch (25 mm) from the top of the Water Tank.
-
Secure the lid and place the Water Tank back into the Hub.
-
Now the Hub should be ready for use.

- Do not iron your Active Grid layer.
- Do not dry clean your Active Grid layer. Dry cleaning solvents may damage the wires.

This small plastic tool will empty the water out of the Grid. You can find instructions for doing this inside the Eight Sleep app Help section.
