ROTHENBERGER RP50-S Test Pump
Please read and retain these directions for use. Do not throw them away! The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect use of the equipment! Subject to technical modifications!
General information
The test pump was developed and designed for fast and accurate pressure
testing of different pipe systems and tanks.
The test pump is characterised by the following features:
- Double valve system with a mono-block design for fast filling and testing.
- Combined ball head valve and one-piece aluminium sealing system to reduce leak-prone screw connections.
- A polyamide piston, abrasion resistant.
- Galvanized steel tank with DURAMANT or stainless steel coating, corrosion-resistant.
- Finely-scaled pressure gauge with three international measuring units and a drag indicator.
- Electronic pressure sensor with Bluetooth so that the pump can be used with our APP (RP 50 Digital).
The test pump can be used to run pressure tests or leak tests on piping
systems and containers in accordance with national and international
guidelines.
The type of installation and the system materials to be tested are irrelevant
here.
Refer to the technical data for the approved test media and pressures that
depend on the test pump being used.
Safety Notes
The following points must be implemented before connecting the pump:
-
inspect the pump and its components for any signs of damage do not use the pump if the test hose leaks
-
ensure that all of the system’s valves and shut-off valves are shut before starting the test
-
the test pump is only to be used for its intended purpose and it is not suitable for use with sealant (the sieve will clog up)
-
only use the liquids approved for testing that are listed in the technical data NEVER use ac-id, as this will damage the seals.
-
Before starting the pump you must always inspect its components for defects or damage.
NEVER USE the pump if the pressure hose or other components are damaged or broken! -
Only use original ROTHENBERGER spare parts for maintenance.

Operation
- Connect the pressure hose to the system to be tested and then open valve V1 and shut valve V2 (1)
- open the system to be tested and fill it using the pump lever or increase the pressure when the system is filled (2)
- continue pumping until the test pressure is reached (3)
- shut valve V1 (4) when the specified test pressure is reached
- open valve V2 slightly if the test pressure is exceeded until the wanted pressure is reached and then shut valve 2 again (5)
- open the V1 and V2 valves to drain the system after the leak test has been run
Important! Vent the system after the test pressure has been reached and wait for the system to stabilise (temperature / pressure equalisation) and then adjust the test pressure if necessary!
Using our APP in conjunction with an RP 50 Digital
- The electronic module wil switch on automatically as soon as the pump is sufficiently filled with a test medium containing water the module will switch itself off after approx. 30 minutes once the pump is completely empty again
- Start the APP (our ROTHENBERGER app must have been downloaded from the IOS App store or Android Play Store beforehand)
- The app will automatically connect itself to the pump after a short time press the “+” symbol at the top right of the app if you are using it for the first time the pump to be connected will then be displayed here with a blue Bluetooth icon the pump will appear with a blue back-ground in “My devices” if it has already been used
- Select the pump with the blue background and then go to the “Measurements” tab measuring can now be started now enter the required test pressure
- Apply the test pressure now start the measuring
- End the measuring from the bottom right when measuring is complete the measurement will then be saved
Creating a test log:
- Select the “Reports” tab and then click on “New report” at the bottom
- All of the required fields can now be completed
- Click on “Select measurement” to add the corresponding measurement
- Click on the PDF symbol at the top right to complete the log. Save the report or share it with the client via e-mail or other programmes.

Care and Maintenance
Keep the tank and pump system clean. The suction pipe is supplied with a filter to prevent dirt entering the pump pressure system. If the filter should clog, remove the dirt and clean it with water.
Grease the piston periodically with water repellent grease (Synthetic silicone grease used in the food industry is recommended). Please, be extremely careful not to damage the piston. Use only ROTHENBERGER parts for maintenance.
