General safety instructions

  • The use of the device is not suitable for children or people with reduced physical, sensory, and mental abilities, as well as people not familiar with the handling, unless they are under constant supervision or have been instructed by a person responsible for their  safety in the handling of the device.
  • Children near the product must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with it.
  • Children, young people, and people who are not familiar with the operating manual are not allowed to use the device. When used near swimming pools and garden ponds and in their protective area, the regulations according to DIN VDE 0100 -702, -738 must be observed.
  • When used for domestic water supply, the statutory water and waste water regulations as well as the provisions of DIN 1988 must be complied with.
  • The following residual hazards exist during the operation of pumps and pressure vessels – they cannot be completely eliminated by safety precautions:

Danger due to environmental influences!

  • Do not expose the appliance to rain. Never use the unit in a wet environment.
  • Do not use the device in potentially explosive areas or in the vicinity of flammable liquids or gases!

Danger from electricity!

  • Do not point the water jet directly at the appliance or other electrical parts! Danger of death from electric shock!
  • Do not touch the mains plug with wet hands! Always pull out the mains plug by the plug itself and not by the cable.
  • The earth contact socket or the plug connection with an extension cable must be located in a flood-proof area.
  • Extension cables must have a sufficient wire size (see “technical data”).
  • Cable drums must be completely unrolled.
  • Do not bend, squeeze, pull or run over the power cord or extension cord; protect it from sharp edges, oil and heat.
  • Place the extension cable so that it cannot reach into the liquid being pumped.
  • Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any work on the unit!
  • If the connecting cable is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service partner to avoid any danger.
  • The mains plug must be disconnected when people are in the swimming pool or garden pond.

Danger due to damages of the device!

  • If you notice any transport damage when unpacking, notify the manufacturer immediately. Do not operate the device.
  • Check the device, in particular the mains cable and mains plug, for any damage before each start-up. Danger of death from electric shock!
  • A damaged device may only be used again after it has been properly repaired.
  • Do not repair the device yourself! Only specialists may carry out repairs on pumps and pressure vessels.

Before commissioning

You can easily set up and connect the device yourself. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer or a qualified electrician.

Installation

  • The unit must stand on a level horizontal surface, able to hold the weight of the unit and the water.
  • To avoid vibrations, the device should be placed on an elastic surface.
  • The installation site should be well ventilated and protected from weather influences.
  • When operating near garden ponds and swimming pools, the device must be installed in a floodproof way and be protected against falling in.
Additional legal requirements must be considered.

Connecting suction lines

The suction line must be mounted so that it does not exert any mechanical force or tension on the pump.
Attention! If the pumped medium is dirty, always use a suction filter to protect the pump from sand and dirt.
Note: A non-return valve is recommended for when the pump is switched off.

  • All fittings must be sealed with sealing tape; leaks cause air intake and thus hinder or reduce the water suction.
  • The suction line should have at least 25 mm (1″) inside diameter; it must be bending, pressure and vacuum resistant.
  • The suction line should be as short as possible because the delivery rate decreases with increasing line length.
  • The suction line should rise steadily towards the pump to prevent air entrapment.
  • A sufficient water supply must be ensured and the end of the suction line should always be in the water.

Pressure port
Note: You may need additional equipment for the connection.
Attention! The discharge line must be mounted so that it does not exert any mechanical force or stress on the pump.

  • All fittings should be sealed with thread sealing tape to prevent water leakage.
  • All parts of the pressure line must be pressure-resistant.
  • All parts of the pressure line must be installed correctly.

Danger! Non-pressure-resistant parts and improper installation may cause the pressure line to burst during operation. Liquid escaping at high pressure can injure you!

Mains connection
Danger from electricity!

  • Do not operate the device in a wet environment. It can only be operated under the following conditions:
The connection may only be made to socket outlets with an earthing contact, which have been properly installed, earthed, and tested.

  • Mains voltage and fuse protection must correspond to the technical data.

  • For operation near swimming pools, garden ponds and similar places, the device must be operated via a residual current circuit breaker (FI switch, 30 mA; DIN VDE 0100 -702, 738).

  • When operating outdoors, the electrical connections must be splash-proof; under no circumstances must they be in the water.

Filling the pump and intake
Attention! The pump must be filled with water each time it is connected for the first time or if water is removed or air sucked in. Switching it on without prior water filling will destroy the pump!
Note: The suction line does not need to be filled as the pump is self- priming. However, depending on the length and diameter of the line, it may take some time for the pressure to build up.

  1. Unscrew the water filler plug together with the seal.
  2. Add clean water slowly until the pump is filled.
  3. If you wish to shorten the suction time, fill the suction line, too.
  4. Screw the water filler plug tight with seal again.
  5. Open the pressure line (turn on the water tap or spray nozzle) so that the air can escape during suction.
  6. Switch on the device (see “operation”).
  7. If water escapes evenly, switch the appliance off.

Operation

The pump and suction pipe must be connected and filled.
Attention! Pump must not run dry. There must always be sufficient pumping medium (water) available.
If the engine does not start, the pump does not build up pressure, or similar effects occur, turn the unit off and then try to correct the error.

Putting the pump into operation
Note: The pump runs as long as the on/ off switch is on.

  • Plug in the mains plug.
  • Switch on pump with on/off switch.
  • Open the pressure line (turn on the water tap or spray nozzle).
  • Check whether water is leaking!

Attention! If the discharge line is closed, allow the pump to run for a maximum of 10 min, otherwise overheating of the water in the pump may cause damage.

Maintenance and care

Danger! Before carrying out any work on the device:

  1. Switch the device off.
  2. Pull the mains plug out.
  3. Make sure that the device and connected equipment are depressurised. Further maintenance or repair work other than that described here may only be carried out by a qualified specialised.

In case of frost
Attention! Frost will destroy the unit and equipment, as they always contain water!
If there is a chance of frost, dismantle the unit and its equipment and store it in an area protected from frost (see following section).

Dismantling and storing the device

  1. Switch the device off, pull the mains plug out.
  2. Open the pressure line (turn on the water tap or spray nozzle) and allow the water to drain off entirely.
  3. Empty the pump completely by unscrewing the water drain plug at the bottom of the pump.
  4. Disconnect the suction and pressure lines from the unit.
  5. Store the unit in a room free of frost (min. 5 ℃).

Problems and malfunctions

Danger! Before carrying out any work on the device:

  1. Switch the device off.
  2. Pull plug from the mains socket.
  3. Make sure that the device and connected equipment are depressurised.
