Assembly

Battery Charging (see figure A)

  • Use only the power supplies listed in the technical data. Only these power supplies are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your glue pen.
  • Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the power source must match the voltage specified on the rating plate of the power adaptor. Power adaptors marked with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery before the first use. The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery. The Li- ion battery is protected against deep discharge. A protective circuit switches the glue pen off when the battery is drained, meaning the adhesive is no longer being heated. If the LED indicator (5) flashes red, the battery has less than 30 % capacity and should be charged. When the battery is fully charged, the LED indicator is continuously lit red. To charge the battery, connect the Micro-USB connector (12) of the charging cable (9) to the charging socket (8) and the USB charging connector (11) to the power supply (10). Then plug the mains plug of the power supply into the plug socket. The LED indicator (5) will flash green during the charging process. When the charging process is complete, the LED indicator will be continuously lit green. Unplug the power supply from the mains.
The glue pen cannot be used during the charging process.
The lack of function during the charging process does not   mean that the tool is defective.
Protect the power adaptor against moisture!

Operation

Starting Operation
Switching On and Off

To switch on the glue pen, press and hold the on/off button (4) until the LED indicator (5) lights up green.
The LED indicator (5) will flash while the tool is warming up. When it is continuously lit up, the glue pen is ready to use. To switch off the glue pen, press and hold the  n/off  button (4) until the LED indicator (5) goes out.
Note: The glue pen will switch itself off automatically after ten minutes to save energy.
When switching on again, check the LED indicator (5): If it briefly lights up red, the battery needs to be charged.

  • Place the glue pen down in a safe place after use and let it cool down completely before packing it away. The hot nozzle can cause damage.

Working Advice

  • Keep people and animals away from the hot adhesive and the nozzle tip. Adhesive and nozzle tip will heat up to 170 °C, posing a risk of burns. If hot adhesive comes into contact with skin, immediately hold the affected area under a stream of cold water for several minutes. Do not try to remove the hot adhesive from the skin.

Only use adhesives that have been recommended by the manufacturer of the glue pen.
Adhesive bonds can become unstuck when they are affected by moisture.
Preparing for gluing
The bonding locations must be clean, dry and free from grease.
Errors – causes and corrective measures
The materials to be glued together and the work surface must not be easily ignited or flammable.
Test whether heat-sensitive materials are suitable beforehand on a sample workpiece.
The ambient temperature and the workpieces to be glued must not be colder than +5 °C and not warmer than +50 °C.
Materials that cool the adhesive down quickly should be warmed first with a hot air gun.
Gluing (see figure B)
Push the glue stick (6) suited to the material into the glue stick compartment (7).
Switch the glue pen on and allow it to heat up. The LED indicator (5) flashes. As soon as the LED indicator (5) is continuously lit, the glue pen is ready to use. Apply moderate pressure to the feed trigger (3). Apply the adhesive to a single side.
Press the materials you wish to glue together against each other for around 10 to 30 seconds immediately after applying the adhesive. It is still possible to correct the bonding location at this point. The bond is stable after approx. two minutes of cooling time.

  • Make sure you do not come into contact with the hot adhesive. Use a silicone mat to press permeable materials together.

Application tips

Material/workpiece Recommendation
Long workpieces with large surface areas Apply adhesive in dots
Flexible materials (e.g. textiles) Apply adhesive in lines
  • Do not use flammable solvents to clean the bonding locations. The hot glue could ignite any solvent residue or release hazardous fumes.
Adhesive residue on clothing cannot be removed. The bonding locations can be painted.
