XTBM Talk Back Mic
Basic installation
Power Off/On: Hold for about 2 seconds to turn on or off. The Power Mic
will sound escalating or de- escalating tones to advise status. The device
does a self check and
the status light then glows. (see Control)
Emergency: Pressing the Orange emergency button triggers the host radio’s
emergency input and causes the status light to glow Red. Additionally, it will
glow Red while any of the connected X10DR Handset users presses their
Emergency button.
Status light: Glows Green when set to transmit to X10DR handsets or Blue
when transmitting over the host mobile radio (see Control). Changes to Red
when Emergency
is being activated.
Microphone: Talk in a normal strength voice about 1 to 3cm (<1”) from the
microphone port. PTT: Press to talk, release to listen. Default assignment is
to talk to wireless X10DR handsets. (see Control)
Volume Up/Down: Adjusts the speaker audio louder/softer and sounds a beep
when pressed.

To add a XTBM Talkback Mic to your X10DR system you MUST first set the
microphone output level to match the host mobile radio’s wired microphone.
Microphone transmit level adjustment:
(Using a portable radio to monitor)
To match the XTBM’s transmit audio level to the host radio’s microphone: Hold
the Volume Up button while powering on XTBM. After activation tone sounds,
release button.
While listening on a portable radio, transmit on the host radio’s microphone
and then transmit on the Talkback Mic. Use the Volume Up/ Down buttons to
adjust XTBM transmit audio level so the XTBM matches the radio’s wired
microphone.
To lock the audio level, press top grey button.
If you want the radio’s receive audio to also be heard through the XTBM
loudspeaker, you must also set receive input level.
Radio Receive input level adjustment:
(Default level is off)
To match the wireless X10DR’s and the host radio’s received audio level:
Hold the Volume Down button while powering on the XTBM. When activation tone
sounds, release button.
Speak into a portable radio so that you can monitor the host mobile’s receive
audio level. Now transmit on the wireless X10DR handset and use the XTBM’s
Volume Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume so that the wireless X10DR handset
audio matches the portable radio’s audio level. To lock the audio level, press
top grey button.
Default side PTT/Control button configuration
A/ Control (grey) button toggles Side PTT assignment between Talkaround PTT
and Radio PTT.
Talkaround PTT assigned = Green LED
Radio PTT assigned = Blue LED
To re-select:
- Power up with orange button pressed.
Alternative PTT/Control button configurations
B/ Side PTT button will be Radio PTT and top
Control will be Talkaround PTT.
To select:
- Power up with Control (grey) button pressed.
C/ Side PTT button will be Talkaround PTT and top Control will be Radio PTT.
To select:
- Power up with side PTT pressed.
