Introduction

Use a voice command or a simple tap on an app to turn on the kitchen lights. With our under-cabinet lighting, which works with Alexa devices and doesn’t require a third-party app, you can create a lighting and ambient experience unlike any other. You can almost turn on your under-cabinet lights from anywhere, whether you’re in the living room and want to light up the kitchen without getting up from the couch or you’re on your way home from work and want to stroll into a lit-up house. Without getting out of bed, you may use the app or voice control to dim the lights or establish a schedule.

What’s best? For simple lighting management in every room of your home, you can even combine these lights with other smart devices in your kitchen, wardrobe, garage, workshop, or anywhere else! This 6-pack of 9″ ultra-thin light bars cast a broad, flicker-free area of illumination that can be quickly switched from maximum brightness with soft white, white, or daylight white to night mode. Concerned with installation? With no stress, no tools, and no misunderstanding, this voice-activated smart LED lighting system can be set up quickly and effortlessly without causing any frustration. Even better, for touch-free activation that keeps your lights bright and your kitchen open, you can turn the lights on and off simply waving your hand under the motion sensor.

How to troubleshoot

  • Investigate any faulty wiring or polarity.
  • Wires that are loose or improperly placed.
  • Overlapping and frayed wires.
  • Employ stranded wire. Better connections are made possible by stranded wire, which also reduces voltage drop and power loss.
  • The wire should be clean. Straight and spotless wire is required.

FAQs

Is it possible to turn on one or 2 of the lights as needed or do all 6 turn on together?****

All six together. They are linked to each other. You can install less if you don’t need all 6, but they work together.

Any tips for hiding the plug wire? Our tile is dark.****

I had problem w that install my kitchen cabinets do not have a front lip that would be perfect to hide them but I kept the lights about three inches from the very front that helps a bit under an open floating shelf I installed them almost against the wall but you see them We use them very hard

What are the lengths of the included jumpers, and how many of each length are included?****

For the 6-strip set: 4″ x 3, 12″x1, 30″x5, 72″x1

Will these work with previous version (non-smart) light bars from B &D?****

No had the old version try to just wire in the smart part and the lights did not work had to wire all the new lights in

Can you add additional light bars, I’ve ordered two different smaller packs of the lights and none of them seem to be compatible with the smart bars?****

I would suspect that additional light bars could be added assuming same brand that the overall wattage of ALL bars does not exceed the capacity of the wall wart power supply.

Can someone explain the nightlight mode? I see it on the app****

Instruction/ User guide says 30 % brightness and 5-hour timer. “Alexa, enable night light mode on cabinet lights”

What size is the adapter tip?****

I’m fairly sure that this should be expressed in metric, but I don’t currently have a metric rule. See if this helps. The electrical (outer) portion is 3/8” long, ending in a female (“inny”) contact. The diameter is about 3/16”. The wall wart itself is 24V@1A, with the inny contact positive.

I connected two 24” bars and put up on my cabinet. The lights sometimes make dangerous popping and static noises. Why is this happening?****

No sure, I’ve connected mine the same way with no issues. Check connections again.

I have 3 units and they all keep losing their connection with Alexa devices. Can anyone help with that?****

This may be dependent on the location of your router and the relative network strength near the control units of the lights. If your nearest Wi-Fi access point is far away (or needs to pass through several walls/large objects to get to the lighting control units), consider moving the access point closer, or adding an additional access point. We have a mesh system in our house, and our nearest mesh access point is no more than 10 feet away from our cabinets where we’re using these lights, and they never lose connection.

How does the split continuation work? I only see one ax/dc power source.****

You need to wire them together or get another power supply.

Just received my lighting kits. There’s a clear film, like saran-wrap, over each lens. Does this stay on or get removed?****

Take off the saran wrap…leave the hard plastic

How can you place lights on cabinets of different wall?****

I have cabinets on two different walls that don’t touch each other and I purchased 50’ of thermostat wire 18/3, and since there are three wires insides the sleeve that come with the kit, it worked perfectly to go from one side of the kitchen to the other. You do have to know how to cut and splice wire together but it’s not very difficult and there are plenty of YouTube videos to show you how to do it.

is this compatible with smartlife app?****

I don’t know but it’s pretty much a dumb light. Paid twice as much for the smart feature which failed after 3 months. Emailed and left messages for company (in China) about the warranty and never got a response.

Can you purchase extra controllers?****

You can go to the black and decker website to get additional equipment.

I live in an apartment and am looking for something that’s removable are these permanent? Do you think they’ll hold with command strips?****

IIRC, they come with adhesive strips that hold pretty well. You could also go to a big box store and get a roll of 3M adhesive strips what is REAL strong. Command strips would also work, but may be overkill.
