Quickstart Guide for Pairing to Wi-Fi – Android

  • Step 1: Download the “MiniGadgets” application from the app store. You can visit www.minigadgets.com/mgd on your phone or tablet, or you can scan the QR code to the right.
  • Step 2: Power your device on and wait 60 seconds for it to begin broadcasting its Wi-Fi signal. On your Android device, go to your Settings, select Connections, tap Wi-Fi, and choose the Wi-Fi signal that starts with MIG to connect to it. (If a message appears on your phone that says ‘Internet may not be available, tap here for options’, tap the message and choose the ‘Stay Connected’ option. Do not press ‘Switch to Mobile Data’ or ‘Choose Another Network’ .)
  • Step 3: Open the WisdomCam app. If the application asks for you to allow any permissions when you open it, make sure to allow everything it is asking for.
  • Step 4: Press the + icon at the bottom of the screen and choose the option that says ‘Add by LAN’. If the app asks for permission to connect to devices on your local network, make sure to press ‘OK’ to allow this. (If after doing this it says 0 devices found, press the ‘Refresh’ button in the app)
  • Step 5: The app should say ‘Found 1 Device’. Tap on the long string of numbers and the app will automatically fill in the UID and password field. You can name the camera whatever you want (ex: Kitchen, Den, etc). Then, press the ‘OK’ button.
  • Step 6: The camera should now show as ‘Online’. Press the gear wheel icon and choose ‘Wi-Fi Config’.
  • Step 7: On the Wi-Fi Config page, you should see a list of networks around you. Choose the network for wherever you will be keeping the camera and then enter the password for that Wi-Fi network. Press the ‘OK’ button afterward.
  • Step 8: A progress circle will appear and say ‘Pairing the camera to Wi-Fi’ above it. Once the camera is successfully paired to the router, the circle will have a checkmark and say ‘The connection is completed’. Press OK to return to the main page and your camera should be ‘Online’. You can now remotely view the camera from anywhere by opening the application and tapping on the camera to enter the Livestream. (If you are in an area with poor cellular service, try connecting to a Wi-Fi network if you are having issues with the live stream’s capabilities).

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE GETTING STARTED

  1. In order to operate your device, you must download the MiniGadgets app to your smartphone or tablet.

ADDING THE CAMERA TO THE MINIGADGETS APPLICATION

  1. Download the MiniGadgets application from the app store.

  2. Power your device on and wait 60 seconds for it to begin broadcasting its Wi-Fi signal.

  3. On your smartphone or tablet, go to your Settings, select Wi-Fi, and tap on the Wi-Fi signal that starts with MIG to connect to it. Wait for the Wi-Fi bars to appear in the top right corner of your phone before proceeding.

    • If you are using an android device and receive a notification after connecting that says ‘tap here for options’, tap on the message and choose ‘Stay Connected to Wi-Fi’. Do not choose ‘Use Mobile Data’.
    • If you are using an iOS device and receive a notification after connecting that asks if you want to use cellular data, choose the option that says ‘Keep Trying Wi-Fi’.
  4. Open the MiniGadgets app. If the application asks for any permissions upon first opening it, make sure to allow everything it asks for.

  5. Press the + icon at the bottom of the screen and choose the option that says ‘Add by LAN’.

    • If the app asks for permission to connect to devices on your local network, make sure to press ‘OK’ and allow this.
  6. The app should say ‘1 devices found’. Tap on the long string of numbers displayed and the app will automatically fill in the UID and password field for you. You can name the camera whatever you want (ex: Kitchen, Den, etc). Press the ‘Confirm’ button afterwards.

  7. The app will take you back to the main menu and your camera should now show as ‘Online’.

PAIRING THE CAMERA WI-FI

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the gear wheel icon.
  2. Choose ‘Wi-Fi’ Config.
  3. You should now see a list of networks around you. Choose the network for wherever you will be keeping the camera, and then enter the password for that Wi-Fi network. Press the ‘Next’ button after entering the password.
  4. A progress circle will appear and say ‘In the connection…’ above it. Once the camera is successfully paired to the router, the circle will have a green checkmark and say ‘Connection is succesful’. Return to the main page and your camera should be ‘Online’. You can now remotely view the camera from anywhere by opening the application and tapping on the camera to enter the livestream.
    • If the Wi-Fi pairing process fails, please try moving both your phone and the device closer to the router.
    • If you are in an area with poor cellular service, try connecting to a Wi-Fi network if you encounter issues with the livestream’s capabilities after it has been paired to a router.

SETTING UP THE DATE/TIME STAMP

  1. The device automatically synchronizes to the time your mobile phone or tablet has set up when you add it to the MiniGadgets application. To manually set a date/time please follow the below instructions.
  2. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the gear wheel icon.
  3. Select ‘Device Time Zone’.
  4. Enable ‘Manual setting’.
  5. Tap on ‘Date and Time’ and choose your desired date/time, then press OK.
  6. You can verify the date/time was manually set to your preference by viewing the Livestream.

SETTING UP MICROSD CARD RECORDING PREFERENCES

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the gear wheel icon.
  2. Select ‘Micro SD Card Config’.
  3. Select ‘Recording Mode’ at the top. You will be presented with four options.
    • Off – Nothing will be recorded to the microSD card.
    • Full Time – The device will record 24/7 to the microSD card.
    • Alarm – The device will record based off motion detection to the microSD card.
    • Alarm based recording requires the motion detection function to be enabled in the ‘Alarm Config’ page.
    • Timing Record – The device will record 24/7 to the microSD card, based off a specified time frame that appears at the bottom of the page (Start & End Time).
  4. Select ‘Video Storage Time’. You can input a number between 1 and 20 (minutes). If you put 5, the device would record 5 minute video segments. (PLEASE NOTE: Motion detection recordings are locked to 2 minutes in video length).
  5. Select ‘Record Quality’. You can choose between HD and SD.
    • HD – 1080P Recordings, higher quality, more microSD space taken up (3 hours of recordings per 1 Gigabyte of space)
    • SD – 360P Recordings, much lower quality, much less microSD space taken up (16 hours of recordings per 1 Gigabyte of space)
  6. Silent Recording Toggle Switch: This will enable or disable the device recording audio with the video clips to the microSD card.
    • Make sure you are up to date on the local laws in your jurisdiction regarding audio being recorded along with video.
  7. Loop Record Toggle Switch: This will enable or disable loop recording. If on, when the microSD card fills up with videos and runs out of space, the device will automatically begin deleting the oldest videos in order to make space for new ones that are being recorded.

ENABLING MOTION DETECTION AND MOTION NOTIFICATIONS

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the gear wheel icon.
  2. Select ‘Alarm Config’.
  3. Slide the motion detection sensitivity slider from ‘OFF’ to either Low, Medium, High, or Max.
  4. After changing the sensitivity slider, hit the back button in the top left corner twice so that you are taken to the main menu that shows your camera as ‘Online’ and has the gear wheel icon.
  5. Press the horizontal bars in the top left corner of the app.
  6. Select ‘System Settings’.
  7. Toggle ‘Push Notifications’ ON if you want to receive motion alerts.

CHANGING THE DEVICES ACCESS PASSWORD

We highly recommend changing your device’s default password for security purposes.

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the gear wheel icon.
  2. Where it says ‘Device password’ at the top, tap on the black dots.
  3. In the ‘Old’ password field, enter the following: 123456
  4. In the ‘New’ password field, enter the password you wish to use.
    • Passwords must be a minimum of 6 numbers, letters, or a mixture of both.
    • Please make sure to save your password in a secure location incase you ever have to re-add the camera to a different phone or tablet.

LIVESTREAM BUTTONS

  • ☀ – Brightness adjustment.
  • ◐ – Contrast adjustment.
  • ☼ – Night vision ON/OFF. The ☼ symbol means
  • OFF, ⇌ means the night vision will automatically turn on once it is dark, and the ☾ icon means the night vision will always be on even when it is not dark.
  • ▷ – Flips the Livestream horizontally.
  • △ – Flips the Livestream vertically.
  • Take a snapshot of the Livestream and save to the phone or tablet’s gallery.
  • Take a video of the Livestream and save to the MiniGadgets app on your phone.
  • 2K – Change the resolution of the Livestream from either 4K, 2K, or 1080P (HD).
  • Maximize the Livestream.
  • Enable audio streaming

REVIEWING MOTION DETECTION NOTIFICATION SNAPSHOTS

When motion detection is enabled the device will capture a snapshot when the motion sensor is triggered. The unit must be paired to a Wi-Fi network for this particular feature to work properly. If you do not see the mentioned icons, please press the 3 horizontal lines in the top right of the app menu.

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the (calendar) icon on the far left.
  2. You can tap on a picture to enlarge it.
  3. To delete pictures, press ‘Editor’ in the top right, select the pictures you wish to delete and tap on ‘Delete.

REVIEWING VIDEOS SAVED TO THE MICRO SD CARD

If you do not see the mentioned icons, please press the 3 horizontal lines in the top right of the app menu. If your device is not paired to Wi-Fi you will need to connect your phone or tablet to the MIG signal in order for this to work.

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the icon (2nd from the left).
  2. Select a time range.
  3. The app will show you a list of videos within that time range. You can tap on the video name to begin playback.
  4. Press the trashcan icon ( ) to delete a video.
  5. Press the cloud icon (CLOUD ) to download the video off the microSD card.
    • You will have a ‘Video file download’ progress bar appear upon clicking the cloud icon. Once this reaches 100% it will say ‘Download completed’ and you can press OK. The video is saved to your phone or tablet’s gallery.

REVIEWING PHOTOS/VIDEOS TAKEN IN THE LIVESTREAM

  1. From the main menu of the MiniGadgets app where you can see that your camera says ‘Online’, press the (phone) icon.
  2. You can tap on the ‘Photo’ or ‘Video’ tab depending on which you want to view.
  3. To review photos or videos, tap on the one you want to open.
  4. To delete photos or videos, press ‘Editor’ in the top right corner and select which files you want to delete, then press ‘Delete’.
