DANGER

  • ALWAYS OPERATE THIS AUGER FROM THE TRACTOR OR SKID STEER SEAT.
  • DO NOT ATTACH THE AUGER TO THE TRACTOR OR SKID STEER WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING.
  • DO NOT OPERATE THE AUGER WITH ANYONE IN CONTACT WITH ANY MOVING PARTS.
  • SERIOUS INJURY CAN RESULT FROM ENTANGLEMENT WITH MOVING PARTS.
  • NEVER OPERATE THE POWERHEAD WITH THE AUGER MORE THAN 6 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND LEVEL.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

INSTRUCTIONS TO ATTACH THE AUGER TO POWERHEAD
STEP 1: Lower the tractor or skid steer gearbox/powerhead so that the bottom of the drive shaft is a little higher from the ground than the auger standing up. Stand up the auger and align the flats of the hex drive of the auger with the powerhead. Align the pin through the hole of the auger and powerhead.
Alternatively, you can lower the powerhead of the skid steer and lay the powerhead flat. With the auger lowered align the flats and pin through the hole of the auger and powerhead.

STEP 2: Slid the auger onto the powerhead drive shaft and fix it with an auger pin and lynch pin. A 3/4 inch or 7/8 inch auger attachment pin can be used.

STEP 3: Raise the auger vertically and transport it to the operating location.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING

ALWAYS PERFORM MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS WITH THE TRACTOR’S OR SKID STEER ENGINE POWERED OFF.
Clean dirt and debris off the auger after each use. Store the auger in a clean and dry location. Check for damaged or worn parts after each use. Do not attach the auger to a tractor or skid steer if parts are worn and need to be replaced.
REMOVING CUTTING TEETH
Carbide bullet teeth on the rock auger can be replaced when worn by using a specialized removal tool or using a hammer and punch. To remove, place the punch on the backside of the bullet tooth and hammer the bullet tooth out from the pocket. Cutting teeth on the earth auger can be replaced when worn by using a hammer and punch. To remove place the punch at the base of the tooth and hammer the tooth out carefully.
REPLACING CUTTING TEETH
Replace the carbide bullet teeth on the rock auger by aligning the bullet tooth with the vacant pocket. Hammer the bullet tooth into place with a hard rubber hammer. A Felt or a rubber lock can be used for a tighter fit. Fold felt over the tooth and hammer with a hard rubber mallet the tooth into place. A rubber lock is a solid rubber rope 1/4 in. diameter and needs to be cut about 1/8 in shorter than the width of the earth auger tooth. Center the rubber rope with the tooth’s empty pocket. Use a hard rubber hammer to force the tooth in place which will fold the rubber rope in half.
AUGER PILOT BIT
The rock and earth auger pilot bit can be removed and replaced by removing the fastening hardware and replacing it with a new pilot bit.
