Smithsonian 86274 Great Outdoors Binocular Set
CONGRATULATIONS!
You are about to embark on an exciting journey into the amazing natural World
around you. Please read these instructions carefully so that you know how to
get the most enjoyment from your new binocular set.
FOCUSING
Focusing the binoculars is easy once you learn these steps:
- Close your right eye and sight an object with your left eye. Focus the binoculars by rotating the center focus wheel until the image is sharp and clear.
- Open your right eye and close your left eye. Rotate the right eyepiece diopter adjustment until the object sighted is sharp and clear.
- Both sides (eyes) are now in focus and you will need to use only the center focus wheel to focus on other objects.
- Open the camera app on your phone. Slightly loosen the twist screw on the back of the mount just enough so that you can move your phone side by side. Adjust your phone side to side until your phone camera lines up with the binocular lens. Tighten the screw to secure the phone in desired position. NOTE- you may need to adjust your phone up or down in the mount by repeating step #3 so that your phone camera matches up perfectly with the binocular lens.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BINOCULAR
- Keep the lens covers on the lenses when binoculars is not in use.
- When wiping the lenses, use the lens cloth that comes with the binoculars, or a soft, lint-free cloth.
- To remove any remaining dirt or smudges, add one or two drops of isopropyl alcohol to the cloth.
- Store your binocular in a moisture-free area.
- Never attempt to clean your binocular internally or try to take it apart.
TWIST-UP EYECUPS
Adjusting the eyecups is recommended for all users, especially glasses wearers to help eliminate the chances of seeing black spots when looking through the binocular lenses.
- Rotate each eye cup to increase the eye relief (distance between your eye and the lens) until you can comfortably see through the binocular without seeing any black spots.
PHONE ADAPTER
- Make sure the twist-up eyecups on your binoculars are all the way in the down position.
- Place the phone adapter onto the binocular eyepiece. Secure by twisting the phone adapter top screw until snug.
- Twist the screw on the side to adjust the phone adapter width to fit your phone. Place the phone in between the sides of the mount and tighten the side screw to secure the phone to the mount.
