Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit

Introducon:
Rusty’s recommends that this installaon be preformed by a cerfied automove
technician or a person with professional mechanical knowledge. Installing this
kit without this experse may jeopardize the handling and safety of the
vehicle.
Read instrucons several mes before starng. Be sure you have all the needed
parts and know where they install. Read each step completely as you go.
Exhaust modificaons may be necessary. You will need an inclinometer or similar
tool to check rear driveline angles; this will help take a lot of the guess
work out.
A front end alignment is a must. Prior to drilling or cung, check behind the
surface being worked on for any wires, lines, or hoses that could be damaged.
Aer any drilling or cung, remove burrs and grind smooth any surfaces.
Be sure to paint or undercoat aerwards.
Before Starng Installaon:
- Carefully read all warnings and instrucons completely before beginning.
- Verify all parts have been received in this kit by checking the parts list at the beginning of this document.
- Only install this kit on the vehicle for which it specified.
- Park the vehicle on a clean, dry, flat, level surface and block the res so the vehicle cannot roll in either direcon.

Note: Save all factory components and hardware for reuse, unless noted.

Place the vehicle on flat level ground before starng the install.

Remove the factory steering stabilizer by removing it from the axle mount and the e rod bar mounng clamp. Aer removing the bolt from the e rod mounng clamp, use two sets of pliers to spread the bracket open to remove it from the rod. ( Note: Discard Hardware, none of this will be reused.)

Locate the adjustment sleeve on the draglink. Loosen the bolts on the clamp one at a me, and rotate the clamp where the bolt is facing the front as illustrated in Image #1.2. Fully ghten the two adjuster clamp bolts to lock the adjustment sleeve back into place.

Posion the axle tube mounng bracket to the top of the axle tube, slide it over so that the edge of it contacts the casng of the differenal housing as illustrated in Image # 2.1. Use the Qty: 2 Large U-Bolts (3/8” x 2-1/2” x 3-1/4”) to fastenthe axle tube mounng bracket into place. The U-bolts will be installed from the boom of the axle tube. Use the 3/8” washers and lock-nuts to secure the bracket to the axle tube. Slightly ghten the lock nuts in a crossed paern so that they ghten evenly and before fully ghtening make sure to posion the bracket parallel to the ground as pictured in picture#2.2Fully ghten the locknuts (Torque: 40 Ft. lbs. )(Note: The top of the bracket should sit approximately 1” above the e-rod.) Note: Save all factory components and hardware for reuse, unless noted.

Posion the driver’s side e rod bracket on to the e rod as illustrated in Image #3.1. This will be placed on the front of the e rod near the e rod end clamp. The mounng point for the stabilizer will be facing towards the center of the axle.
Use the Qty: 2 Small U-Bolts (3/8” x 1-1/2” x 2 – 1/2”) to fasten the driver’s side e rod mounng bracket into posion. Use the 3/8” lock-nuts to secure the bracket to the e rod. (Note: Do Not Fully Tighten) -
Posion the passenger’s side e rod bracket on to the e rod as illustrated in Image #3.2. This will be placed on the front of the the e rod near the e rod end clamp. The mounng point for the stabilizer will be facing towards the center of the axle. Use the Qty: 2 Small U-Bolts (3/8” x 1-1/2” x 2 – 1/2”) to fasten the passenger’s side e rod mounng bracket into posion. Use the 3/8” washers and lock-nuts to secure the bracket to the e rod. (Note: Do Not Fully Tighten)

Measure the stroke of the shock (exposed sha length) as illustrated in Image #4.1, compress the shock half the distance measured as illustrated in Image #4.2, and place the masking tape around the sha to keep track of the centered stroke length.

Place the body of the stabilizers at the axle tube mounng bracket as illustrated in Image #5.1. Using the (Qty:2) 1/2”x 2-1/2” bolt with washer through the stabilizers and the axle tube bracket, then fasten with the 1/2” Lock-nut on the backside of the bracket. This process will be the same on both sides. (Note: Make note that bolt is insert with the head facing up.)

Make sure the sha of the stabilizer is posioned at mid stroke at your tape line and move the passenger and driver’s side e rod mounng brackets are adjusted accordingly as illustrated in Image #5.2. Aer making adjustments and making sure that the stabilizer are parallel to the ground you need to ghten the locknuts to secure mounng brackets into place. (Note: Make sure to ghten the lock nuts evenly.)

Remove the masking tape from the sha, before driving the vehicle or cycling the steering. Aer removing the tape and making sure all fasteners have been ghtened correctly. You will need to cycle the steering from lock to lock and make sure that the body of the stabilizer and the sha stay clear of any components. If there are any clearance problems please adjust appropriately. 11.) You are now finished with the installaon.
It is the owners’ responsibility to inspect all Rusty’s products for proper
torque specs to prevent loosening of components. Seat belts and shoulder
harnesses should be worn at all times. Re-check all bolts and nuts after the
first 300 miles and after any off-road usage during the first 300 miles.
Although all of our products are made from the highest quality materials
possible, they are not a substitute for Safe and Careful driving. In other
words, have good safe on-road / off-road sense. Know the terrain, the speed
limitations, and any obstacles that may lie ahead.
