Product Usage Instructions
Updating Firmware
To update the firmware of your CQ mixer, follow these steps:
- Download the firmware update file specific to your CQ model (CQ-12T, CQ-18T, CQ-20B).
- Connect your CQ mixer to the CQ-MixPad app on your device.
- Ensure the app is up to date.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
Formatting USB Device
If you choose to install firmware via USB, format your USB device using the CQ
mixer format utility. Remember:
- Not all USB devices are compatible with the CQ mixer.
- Use the device exclusively for the CQ mixer once formatted and tested for compatibility.
Compatibility Notes
Ensure compatibility between firmware versions and app versions:
- Firmware V1.1.0 with CQ MixPad V1.1.2 is compatible.
- Firmware V1.0.2 with CQ MixPad V1.1.2 is not compatible.
Data Management
When updating firmware, it is recommended to store a Show before proceeding.
Firmware updates from V1.1.0 onward will not delete data, but it’s a good
practice to back up your data.
Full Reset Instructions
If your CQ was manufactured before September 2023 and had firmware V1.0.1,
perform a full reset after the first firmware update to ensure compatibility
with later versions. Refer to the user guide for specific reset instructions.
CQ Firmware Version 1.2.1 Release Notes
V1.2.1 is a feature firmware release for the CQ series of digital audio
mixers.

- Note Firmware updates are included in the CQ-MixPad app, available for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. To carry out an update from CQ-MixPad, ensure the app is up to date, connect to your CQ and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Note Firmware can be installed via USB, firmware files are downloaded as a compressed ZIP folder containing a *.bin file. Ensure you have the correct file for the CQ model you are updating.
- CQ-12T = CQ12tUPG_1_2_1_r4213.bin
- CQ-18T = CQ18tUPG_1_2_1_r4213.bin
- CQ-20B = CQ20bUPG_1_2_1_r4213.bin
- Note Format your USB device using the CQ mixer format utility. Not all USB devices will be compatible with the CQ mixer. Use the device only for the CQ mixer once you have formatted it and checked it to work correctly with the mixer.
- Note The CQ has a main image and back-up image for stability and redundancy. Updating the firmware will always overwrite the alternate image to the one being used to carry out the update.
- Note If using CQ-MixPad or CQ4You apps, ensure that the first two numbers of the firmware and app versions match.
- CQ firmware V1.1.0 and CQ MixPad V1.1.2 are compatible.
- CQ firmware V1.0.2 and CQ MixPad V1.1.2 are not compatible.
- Note Scenes and shows created with an earlier version of firmware can be recalled on an CQ running more recent firmware releases but scenes and shows created using the latest firmware cannot be recalled on older firmware.
- Note Updating firmware (from V1.1.0 onward) will not clear or delete data, but it is best practice to store a Show before carrying out an update.
- Note CQ’s manufactured before September 2023 were loaded with firmware V1.0.1. Data stored using this version is incompatible with later firmware and a full reset should be carried out after the first firmware update. Refer to the CQ user guide for instructions on how to carry out a full reset on a particular model.
