Water
| Nutrients
---|---
1L|
5ml A+ 5ml B
2L
| 10ml A +10ml B
3L|
15ml A+ 15ml B
Note:
It is suggested to change the water once a week to ensure that the potassium
content is sufficient.
Adding too many nutrients may be harmful to your plants.
Always top off water levels when adding liquid nutrients.
Do not use well water or softened water, it will interfere and unbalance the
nutrients. Using well water or softened water may result in plants suddenly
browning or incurring poor growth.
Unopened Nutrient bottles have a shelf life of 2 years when stored at room
temperature and unexposed to sunlight.
Mixed Nutrient bottles have a shelf like of 5 months if stored away, unexposed
to sunlight.
After the nutrient solution in the bottle is completely used up, place the
Solid Nutrient Refill Pack into the corresponding bottles. Add water and mix
to complete the nutrient solutions.
Method of Planting Seedlings
The Gardening Kit does not include seeds. It is recommended to choose the seed
of a well-known brand at local.
Add 3-5 seeds per sponges to improve the germination rate. Some seeds
germinate in less than 24 hours, however others may take up to 1-4 weeks.
Please be patient. Choose one seedling when the seeds grow into seedlings.
More seedling probably results in poor growth due to insufficient nutrients.
Step 1
Take out the small planting basket and the Sponges. Place the Sponge into the
small planting basket. Put 3-5 seeds onto the wet sponge.
Tip 1: The seedling cover is to help the seeds germinate and protect the early
seedling from possible insect damage.
Tip 2: Once the seeds germinate and reach the top of the seedling cover,
remove the seedling cover, otherwise it will affect the normal growth of the
seeds.
PS: The basket label is to prevent the sponge from getting moldy/algae.
Step 2
Place the small planting basket on the planting cover plate. Add water and
nutrient through the water inlet until the water level reaches the bottom of
the Planting Basket.
Step 3
After the seeds germinate, keep one seedling only. (If there are too many
roots in one plant, this may lead to hypoxia and rot.)
Tip 1: Observe the water level, keep the water level on 2L. It is necessary to replenish water in a timely manner, please refer to the nutrient solution description above. Otherwise the dry seedling will affect seed germination.
Tip 2: When the plant grows more branches and leaves, maintain water level at 1-2L. (Remember that the water level should not be too high, only add enough water to soak the seedling. Otherwise, the high water level will directly affect the germination of seeds).
Tip 3: The distance between the Light Panel and the plant should be kept at about 3-4 inch to avoid scalding the branches and leaves of the plant.
Tip 4: When you plant large plants, some pots are not in use, but the cover on.
Gardening Tips for Maximum Harvests
Germination
-
Check the seed information regarding optimal temperature and days to germinate. Plant 3-5 seeds per sponge. Some seeds germinate in less than 24 hours, some take 1-7 days, others require 1-4 weeks.
Note: Plants have seasonal, periodic, and regional characteristics. Different plant characteristics (temperature, light, and atmospheric humidity) are all related to plant growth. Planting crops suitable for local growth in the current season is the best. -
If there are plants that have sprouted, turn on the Light Panel. Do not wait for all the plants to sprout, otherwise those sprouted plants will grow excessively. You do not need to turn the light on when you first place them, rather it is best to wait until the seeds have finished germinating.
-
The basket lid help regulate moisture and temperature for optimal seed germination. Leave them on until plants are nearly touching the lid, then take it off, then remove to allow for normal growth.
-
For larger plant, it is recommended to plant them at a separated distance to allow for better overall growth. Cover the empty holes to prevent the Water Tank from being exposed to light, which could potentially allow for mold and bacteria growth and affect plant roots.
Transplant: Only when you see rhizome (plant stems) around the sponge,
may you transplant the seedling.
Split the sponge to take one seedling out and move it to another pot.
Put the sponge back, only keep one seedling in the sponge in order to
allow sufficient nutrition.
Pruning
Prune your plants to maintain their height, as opposed to continuing to raise the Light Panel. Pruning ensures your plants stay compact and healthily distanced from the Light Panel, which will provide you with a bigger harvest!
Pruning the plant just above a new leaf set while maintaining the Light Panel height will ensure that slow-growing plants in your garden get all the light they need to flourish.
Prune often to maintain a healthy garden, but never take more than 1/3 of each individual plant at a time.
Plants compete for light. Left untended, faster-growing plants can even begin to block enough light to suppress the growth of their slower-growing neighbors. Spreading leaves must be trimmed to ensure slow growers continue to receive enough light to thrive and produce big yields.
Finally… pruning can also mean harvesting. Each time you prune you get to enjoy fresh herbs in a salad, soup on pizza or a sandwich. A full, healthy garden will look much better than a giant, uncontrolled mess. Pruning keeps control of your Gardening Kit!
Pollinating
Because most people do not have bees in their home, you will need to start manually pollinating your fruiting plants (tomatoes, peppers, etc.) once they begin to flower (approximately 4-6 weeks after planting). To pollinate, use one or more of the following methods:
- Place an open hand inside plant branches and gently move your hand back and forth to shake the plant and spread the pollen. Do this carefully to avoid injury.
- Use one cotton swab or fine brush to gently rub the flowers of different plants and promote the effects of cross-pollination.
Flowering and Fruiting
- Change the water and add proportionate nutrition once per week, ensuring the plant can absorb enough potassium so that it can flower and fruit.
- In a high temperature environment, the nutrient solution concentration will be high due to rapid water evaporation. Be sure to change the water once about 7-15 days.
Harvesting
The Gardening Kit works best with a harvesting method called “cut and come
again.” Simply put, you enjoy frequent small harvests and then watch as the
plants rapidly regrow – ready for harvest again and again.
Enjoy frequent, smaller harvests for the first month or two until plants
mature to offer larger harvests.
Harvest often to maintain a healthy garden, but never take more than 1/3 of
each individual plant at a time.
For most salad greens and herbs, cut the top 2 inches off the entire garden,
or harvest large leaves individually by cutting off at the base of the plant.
Here we list some plants’ optimal temperatures and illumination times. It is for reference only. The suitable growth requirements for plants in different families change in terms of: air humidity, ventilation effect, and nutrient content conditions.
Plant Type | Optimal Temperature | Illumination Time | Distance from Light Board |

Place your Gardening Kit on a sturdy, water-tolerant surface.
In a 59°F-86°F (15-30°C) environment (optimal).
Beyond the reach of children or pets.
Away from direct sources of heat (stove, furnace vents, e.g.,) or cold (window
drafts, A/C vents, e.g.,).
Indoor Gardening Kit does not need additional light or a sunny window. In
fact, too much direct sunlight can overheat your plants.
Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
1. Why do only a few of the plants grow and once grown, they quickly
wither?
a. The seeds you purchase make a difference. For best results, purchase seeds
from reliable sources and avoid purchasing seeds that are unsuitable for water
hydroponic devices.
b. Ensure you are using the correct proportion of nutrient solution to water.
c. Keep LED lights at least 3-4inch away from the plants and place the
Gardening Kit in a 59°F-86°F (15-30°C) environment.
2. Can sponges be reused?
The sponges are only reusable if the stem of the plants are completely pulled
out, however we do not recommend doing so as the Sponge is most effective
during the first use. We offer a specific link to purchase extra Sponges.
Contact support@idooworld.com via email for more
information.
3. Does it kill the plant to remove it from a sponge (if I want to move it
to a pot, for example)?
The plant should normally survive this move, however it is best to wait until
the plant is vigorous and healthy to improve the chance of survival.
4. Why are the seeds not germinating?
It may impacted by temperature. You may also try to cultivate the seeds in
normal soil to test whether it may be a problem with the seeds.
5. Why doesn’t it bloom or bear fruit?
Make sure the nutrition is enough, always top off water level and add liquid
nutrients proportionally.
6. Why does it get moldy?
A. The temperature is too high, causing the enzymes needed for seed
germination become inactivate.
B. There is too much water and insufficient oxygen, and the seeds perform
anaerobic respiration
C. The seed itself has wounds and has become invaded by other microorganisms.
D. Plants with lush branches and leaves are recommended to be planted at
intervals with ample space, which is more conducive to the healthy growth.
Cover the vacant holes to prevent insect eggs, molds, or bacteria from falling
into the water tank and affecting the growth of plant roots.
E. Clean the water tank regularly to avoid bacteria growth. In the process of
planting, if there are dead plants and other poorly growing plants, they
should be removed in time to prevent root erosion bacteria.
7. How to prevent the sponge from getting moldy/algae?
20 basket lables are included in the package to prevent the sponge from
getting moldy/algae. You can also cover the sponge with an opaque film, such
as tin foil.
