FIELD OF APPLICATION

  • PPE is a lanyard conforming to EN 354:2010. PPE is intended to protect against falls from height.
  • Warning: Not for fall arrest purposes. Only for restraint.

  • All equipment used with this lanyard must be capable, including, but not limited to the use of a rope adjustment device.

  • Activity at height is very dangerous which may lead to severe injury or fatality.

  • Train in the use of this equipment, verify that you have fully understood how it works, and if in any doubt, please ask a competent person! Don’t make any alterations or additions to the equipment without the manufacturer’s prior written consent. Any repair shall only be made by the manufacturer. The product shall not be used outside its limitations or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.

INSPECTION AND POINTS TO VERIFY

Before Each Use

  • Check that the lanyard is in serviceable condition.
  • Verify that all product markings are visible and legible.
  • Inspect the lanyard termination for broken stitching or rope damage. Stitching should be intact and measure approximately 60mm x 7.5mm.
  • If the product does not pass all inspection points it should be removed from use.
  • Verify that all markings are visible and legible.
  • During Use, \ Regularly inspect and monitor the condition of the product and the connectors of the system. Ensure all components of the equipment are correctly positioned for each other.
  • Detailed Inspection \ In addition to inspection before, during, and after each use, a detailed inspection by a competent inspector must be done at least every 12 months or more frequently depending on the amount and type of use.
  • Make a copy of these instructions and use one as the permanent inspection record.

COMPATIBILITY

  • Verify the product is compatible with other components of the system in the application (compatible = good functioning interaction and alignment).
  • When using multiple pieces of equipment as a system, instructions for each piece of equipment must be followed.
  • Equipment used with lanyards must meet current standards in your country (e.g. EN 362 connectors, and should not interfere with the safe working or limit function of any other PPE product in use).

PRECAUTION FOR USE

  • Users should read instructions for use before using a lanyard.
  • If using the lanyard with an adjuster, use the adjuster to keep the lanyard under tension with your weight on the system, while staying below the anchor.
  • Ensure the lanyard cannot slip on the anchor.
  • The lanyard should not be used for fall arrest purposes without any energy absorption.
  • TriTech lanyard must not be used for fall arrest. It may be necessary to supplement the work positioning system with a fall-arrest system.
  • Ensure that an Anchor conforming to EN 795B is chosen having a strength of not less than 18 kN.
  • The lanyard should be attached to an EN 813, EN 358, or EN 361 attachment point.
  • This lanyard is not intended to be used with an energy absorber.
  • A lanyard should never be used in a choker configuration.
  • The lanyard is approved for use by one user with a maximum total weight (including gear/tools) of 130 kg.
  • Environmental factors such as snowy, icy, or wet conditions may affect the safe use of this PPE.
  • Caution should be taken if the lanyard comes in contact with any sharp edges.
  • Warning: Low UV Resistance! There is data to support that the strength of Aramid fibers is significantly reduced with prolonged UV exposure.
  • This lanyard is a personal issue item.

TRACEABILITY AND MARKINGS

Do not remove any markings or labels. Markings must remain legible during the entire lifespan of the product. The product can be traced through its markings and the present user instructions manual.

  • Warranty \ Rope Logic guarantees this product for a lifetime against any defects in materials or manufacture.
  • The guarantee does not cover this product from normal wear and tear, oxidation, modification or alteration, incorrect use or storage, poor maintenance, accidental damage, negligence, or any usage for which the product was not designed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This product meets the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment.
  • The anchor point for the system should preferably be located above the user’s position and should meet the requirements of the EN 795 standard (12 kN minimum strength).
  • Lifespan \ This product has a maximum shelf life of ten years from the date of manufacture. With use and exposure to UV radiation, the lifespan of this product may be considerably shorter than the ten-year shelf life.
  • Cleaning \ If necessary, clean with fresh water then allow to dry completely. Store in a dry, dark place away from sunlight/UV radiation, extremes of heat and cold and avoid chemical exposure. (Fig 9B-9C)
  • Storage & Transport \ During transportation or after any necessary cleaning, store unpacked in a cool, dry, dark place in a chemically neutral environment away from excessive heat or heat sources, high humidity, sharp edges, corrosive, or other possible causes of damage. Do not store wet. (Fig 9D)
  • Repairs or Modifications \ Do not repair or modify your product in any way. (Fig. 9E)

When to Retire from Service \ Immediately retire any equipment if:

  • The product fails any inspection (before, during, after use, and periodic in-depth inspection).
  • It is over 10 years old and made of plastic or textiles.
  • It has been exposed to a fall or was significantly loaded.
  • It was misused, altered, damaged, or exposed to harmful chemicals. (Fig 9F)
  • There is no doubt regarding its integrity.

  • Rescue Plan \ It is important the user has a documented rescue plan and can implement it. This implies adequate training in the necessary rescue techniques.
  • Inspection Record \ Inspections should be performed by a competent person whose training meets the applicable standards and/or laws for the inspection of life safety equipment. An inspection log including the date, inspector’s name, and result of the inspection should be kept as a permanent record. It is best to issue new equipment to each user so they know its entire history. Use one copy as the permanent inspection record and keep the other with the equipment.
