All safety messages will follow the safety alert symbol and either the word “DANGER” or “”WARNING”. These words means.

You can be killed or seriously injured if you don’t immediately follow instructions. You can be killed or seriously injured if you don’t follow instructions.

All safety messages will tell you what the potential hazard is, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury , and tell you what can happen if the instruction are not followed.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

Read all instructions.
Turn the Stand Mixer OFF (and detach the attachments from the Stand Mixer) after each use of the attachment and before cleaning. Make sure motor stops completely before disassembling.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Keep hands, utensils or other objects away from the attachment with Shredding, and Slicing blades, or moving parts while it is in operation to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the attachment.
If food becomes lodged in any blade or the Feed Tube, turn the motor off and disassemble the attachment to remove the remaining food.
Avoid contacting moving parts. Keep fingers out of discharge opening.
The use of attachments not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
Never feed food by hand. Always use the Food Pusher.
Blades are sharp. Handle carefully when inserting or removing blades.
Do not remove food until Stand Mixer is OFF and the blade stops.
Do not use the appliance if the driver mechanism or rotating parts are damaged.
Contact the manufacturer at their customer service telephone number for information on examination, repair, or adjustment.
Do not let the Stand Mixer cord hang over the edge of table or counter.

FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT BLADE CHART

Rotating Blade Hazard Always use food pusher.
Keep fingers out of openings.
Keep away from children.
Failure to do so can result in amputation or cuts.
NOTE : For best results, feed only one item at a time into the Feed Tube (ex. carrot). Do not feed items into the Feed Tube by hand; always use the Food Pushers. If food remains in the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment after running, stop the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment, remove the remaining items, and place back into the Feed Tube to shred or slice again.

USING THE STAND MIXER ATTACHMENT

ASSEMBLING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

Turn the Stand Mixer OFF/0 and unplug.
Slide the blade you want to use into the housing. You will hear a click when the blade snaps into place properly on the drive shaft.
For Stand Mixers with a hinged attachment hub cover: Flip up to open
For Stand Mixers with a removable attachment hub cover: Turn the attachment knob counterclockwise to remove attachment hub cover.
Insert the attachment shaft Housing into the attachment hub.
Tighten the Stand Mixer attachment hub knob until the attachment is completely secured to the Stand Mixer.

USING THE STAND MIXER ATTACHMENT

USING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

NOTE: For best results, feed only one item at a time into the Feed Tube (ex. carrot).
Do not feed items into the Feed Tube by hand; always use the Food Pushers. If food remains in the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment after running, turn the Stand Mixer to “0” (Off), remove the remaining items, and place back into the Feed Tube to shred or slice again.

Place a large bowl under the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment to catch food as it comes out.
Cut food into small strips or pieces sized to fit into the Feed Tube.
Turn the Stand Mixer to Speed 4 and feed food in to the Feed Tube using Food Pusher.
Push down on the Release Lever and pull out the blade, in order to change to a new blade.

CARE AND CLEANING

CLEANING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

IMPORTANT: The housing of the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment must be hand washed only using warm, soapy water. The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment blades and accessories are dishwasher safe, top rack only.

After using the Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment, remove all Blades and Accessory items. Wash the Blades and
Accessories in the dishwasher, top rack only.
Clean the housing of the Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment by hand only. Wash with a soft, damp cloth.
Dry thoroughly with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash in the dishwasher.

NOTE: For best cleaning, rinse blades immediately after use. If necessary, use a dish washing brush.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem	Solution

If your Stand Mixer should malfunction or fail to operate while using the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment, please check the following:| Did you follow the preparation suggestions in the “Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment blade chart”?
Did you choose a blade recommended for the type of food you are slicing/ shredding?
Is the Stand Mixer plugged in? Refer to the “Instructions” manual that came with your Stand Mixer to find possible solutions.
Is the fuse in the circuit to the Stand Mixer in working order? Refer to the “Instructions” manual that came with your Stand Mixer to find possible solutions.
If the problem is not due to one of the above items:| See the “Arranging for Service” section in the “Warranty and Service”.

Do not return the Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment or the Stand Mixer to the retailer, as they do not provide service.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE

KITCHENAID FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT WARRANTY FOR THE 50 UNITED STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, PUERTO RICO, AND CANADA

This warranty extends to the purchaser and any succeeding owner for Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachments operated in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

Length of Warranty: One Year Full Warranty from date of purchase.

KitchenAid Will Pay for Your Choice of:

Hassle-Free Replacement of your Fresh Prep Slicer/ for Your Choice of: Shredder attachment. See the next page for details on how to arrange for service, or call the Customer eXperience Center toll-free at 1-800-541-6390.
OR
The replacement parts and repair labor costs to correct defects in materials and workmanship.
Service must be provided by an Authorized KitchenAid Service Center.

KitchenAid Will Not Pay for:

A. Repairs when your Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment is used in other than normal single family home use.
B. Damage resulting from accident, alteration, misuse or abuse.
C. Any shipping or handling costs to deliver your Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment to an Authorized Service Center.
D. Replacement parts or repair labor costs for Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachments operated outside the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING TO THE EXTENT APPLICABLE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXCLUDED TO THE EXTENT LEGALLY PERMISSIBLE. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY BE IMPOSED BY LAW ARE LIMITED TO ONE YEAR, OR THE SHORTEST PERIOD ALLOWED BY LAW. We’re so confident the quality of our products meets the exacting standards of KitchenAid that, if your Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment should fail within the first year of ownership, KitchenAid will arrange to deliver an identical or comparable replacement to your door free of charge and arrange to have your original Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment returned to us. Your replacement unit will also be covered by our one year limited warranty.
If your Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment should fail within the first year of ownership, simply call our toll-free
Customer eXperience Center at 1-800-541-6390 Monday through Friday.
Please have your original sales receipt available when you call. Proof of purchase will be required to initiate the claim. Give the consultant your complete shipping address. (No P.O. Box numbers, please.) When you receive your replacement Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment, use the carton, packing materials, and prepaid shipping label to pack up your original Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment and send it back to KitchenAid.

HASSLE-FREE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY – CANADA

We’re so confident the quality of our products meets the exacting standards of the KitchenAid brand that, if your Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment should fail within the first year of ownership, we will replace your Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment with an identical or comparable replacement. Your replacement unit will also be covered by our one year limited warranty.
