POWER ON YOUR HAND

  • To start your Hand+, hold down the red side button for 3 seconds.
  • “Welcome” will be followed by your startup screen for 3-5 seconds as your Hand+ boots up

HAND+ HOME SCREEN

  • Once your Hand+ boots up it will change to the Home screen which shows 2 main buttons. One to Play Golf and one to access Settings.
  • As you would expect, you can select the Play Golf button to start a round of golf and you can select Settings to open the Settings section of the Hand+.

STARTING A ROUND OF GOLF

  • To initiate a round of golf simply select Play Golf.
  • Your Hand+ will begin looking for a GPS signal. For the quickest results:
  • Make sure that you are outside and not inside a building when trying to acquire a GPS signal
  • Don’t move and hold the device with the screen facing upwards
  • Once your Hand+ has successfully fixed your GPS position, you will see a list of courses ordered from closest to your current location to furthest from your current location.
  • Once you select your course you need to choose your view. Swipe Right and Left to toggle between the Green View and the Classic View and hit select.
  • Green View will provide you with a projection of the shape of the green, as well as front, center, and back distances.
  • Classic View will provide you with front, center (in red), and back distances
  • Once you select your view, your round will begin. Swipe Up or Down to find your course and then tap the screen to choose.
  • Once you select your course you need to choose your view. Swipe Right and Left to toggle between the Green View and the Classic View and hit select.
    • Green View will provide you with a projection of the shape of the green, as well as front, center, and back distances.
    • Classic View will provide you with front, center (in red), and back distances
    • Once you select your view, your round will begin.

PLAYING A ROUND OF GOLF

  • After selecting a view, your round will start. In an active round, you will see:
  • Front, Center, and Back Distance
  • Hole number
  • Par for the Hole
  • Track Shot – Touch to start tracking your shot distance
  • Tap the Shot text at the beginning of your shot, at which point the Hand+ will begin measuring your starting position to your shot landing position. Tap the number displayed to close the measurement, and tap again to begin a new measurement.

GOLF ROUND SCREENS

  • While playing a round you can swipe up and down to cycle through screens.
    • Home Screen – Shows the distances, Hole Number, Par, and Shot
    • Scoring Screen – If you swipe down, then you will be able to enter your score for the hole. Swipe down again and it brings up the Green View screen.
    • Hazard View – Swipe Down again to view the Hazard Screen. This shows any major hazards. Arrows indicate which direction the hazard is from the tee box.
    • A list of possible icons and their meaning is shown below.
    • Speaker Controls – If you are connected to a Rad speaker, then the Speaker Controls screen will show when you swipe up from the Home Screen.
    • If you are not connected to a RAD speaker, then this screen will not appear.
    • You can continue to swipe up or down to cycle through all screens.
    • Pressing the side button brings you back to the Home Screen.

HAZARD ICON LIST

  • To the right is the list of possible hazards and their meaning.

  • The 3 primary icons are for Bunkers, Water, and the End of the
    Fairway.

  • Arrows indicate which direction from the middle of the fairway the hazard is located.

  • Carry shows the distance needed to hit past the hazard.

  • The front shows the distance to the beginning of the hazard.

CONTROLLING YOUR RAD SPEAKERS

  • If you own a Rad Sound or Sound+ you can control it from your Rad Hand+. Speaker control options include:
  • Volume Up
  • Volume Down
  • Rewind
  • Play/Pause
  • Fast Forward
  • Announce
  • By selecting announce, the front, center, and back distances from your Hand+ will be played through your speaker.

ENTERING YOUR SCORE

  • You can quickly save your score after each hole by swiping down from the Home Screen and choosing the correct number fofshots taken.
  • In the Settings, there is a Preferences option and you can choose if you want to track putts and clubs. If you select to track putts, then you will be able to enter a number of putts on the Enter Score screen as well.
  • After you leave the green on the 1st hole the Enter Score screen should automatically appear for you to enter your score. If you would prefer not to have this automatically happen after each hole, then you can press the side button or hit the menu icon in the top left of the screen to pull up the Settings screen and choose Preference, then toggle the Score Prompt option Off.

CHANGING HOLES

  • The Hand+ uses GPS to automatically go to the hole that you are on, however, if you want or need to change holes then just swipe left or right from the Golf Home Screen.
  • Scores entered on the Hand+ for holes that you are not
    currently on will transfer to the Rad Golf application, so ensure that your Hand+ is set to the hole you’re on.

GOLF MENU

  • Pressing the side button or the menu icon in the top left while in an active round of golf will pull up the Golf Settings Menu. In the Golf menu, you have multiple different options:

  • End Round – Allows you to end the round.

  • If you are connected to your Rad App it will also end the round on the app.

  • Preferences – Allows you to choose between the Green View and Simple View. You can also turn Score Prompt, Putt Tracking, and Club Tracking on and off.

  • Edit Shot – This allows you to change the club you used on a shot or delete a shot altogether.

  • Brightness – Choose between High, Normal, and Low screen brightness. The higher the brightness the less battery life you will have.

  • Power Save – This will dim the screen after 5 seconds of no use to save battery life. This option will automatically turn Sleep mode off if it is turned on. Turning Sleep mode on will automatically turn Power Save off.

  • Sleep – Sleep mode will dim the screen after 5 seconds of not using the device. It also then requires you to push the side button to activate the device. Touching the screen will not work until you push the side button.

  • peaker – Will show a Green Checkmark if there is a connected speaker. If there is no speaker connected it will show an arrow and then instruct you to connect through the Rad App.

  • Course – Allows you to change your course.

  • Bluetooth – Allows you to turn Bluetooth On or Off

  • Units – Switch between Yards and Meters

  • Handicap – Allows you to change the handicap factor from Men to Women

  • Power – Turns the device off

MAIN HAND+ SETTINGS

  • From the Home Screen, you can select Settings to show the main settings options for the Hand+. Here are the different Settings items:
    • Language – Allows you to change the language displayed
    • Battery – Shows current battery level
    • Units – Changes between Yards and Meters
    • Brightness – Allows you to change the screen brightness levels to High, Normal, or Low. The higher the brightness, the lower the battery life.
    • Power Save – When turned on it will automatically dim the screen after 5 seconds of no usage.
    • Sleep – Dims the screen and locks the touchscreen after 5 seconds of no usage. Press the side button to unlock the screen. Power Save and Sleep cannot both be active at the same time. Turning one of them on will automatically turn the other one off.
    • Time – Allows you to turn Daylight Savings Time on or off
    • Tutorial – Pulls up a QR code to view this User Manual
    • Update – Allows you to check for Firmware and Course Updates
    • Reset – Allows you to factory reset your device
    • About – Displays the current firmware version, date of release, and serial number of your Hand+.

UPDATING YOUR HAND

  • The first thing you need to do to update your Hand+ is connect it to our Rad Mobile App.

  • Make sure you download the App by scanning this QR code with your phone camera or clicking these links.

  • Once you are in the Rad App you will need to connect your Rad Hand+.

  • After you login to the app you are brought to the Home Screen which shows all available Rad Devices. Scroll down to find the Rad Hand+ and click Register & Connect.

  • Once the Hand+ is connected you can click on the Device Menu button to open your Hand+ Settings.

  • If pairing fails, you will see a message on your Hand+ that reads “Pairing Failed” as well as a message on your mobile device that reads “Failed to Connect”

  • From the Device Menu screen select the Settings icon

  • From Settings choose Select for Updates button for Firmware or Courses as you need.
    This will tell the app to check to see if your device needs to be updated. If it does, then you can choose to update it. Once it is finished you will get a confirmation popup on the app.

RESETTING YOUR HAND

  • Selecting Rest Device in the Settings panel will restore your device to factory settings.
  • Notice: If you factory reset your device, you will lose any stored rounds. Your device will still need to be unregistered from your Rad Golf application if you want somebody else to use the Hand+.
