Product Usage Instructions

  1.  Downloading and Setting Up

    • Step 1: Download the Remmie 3 App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
    • Step 2: Open the Remmie 3 App.
  2. Creating a New Account

    • Step 1: Follow the on-screen instructions to sign up by providing necessary information and click ‘Register’.
    • Step 2: Check your email for the verification link to activate your account.
  3. Connecting to the Device

    • Step 1: Turn on the device by pressing the ‘Power’ button and wait for LED light to illuminate.
    • Step 2: Use the disposable speculum and secure it in place. Grant necessary permissions on the app.
    • Step 3: Wait for the app to connect to the device and load the live video.
  4. Configuring the Device

    • Step 1: Select your home Wi-Fi network and click ‘Next’.
    • Step 2: Enter the Wi-Fi password and click ‘Submit’.

  • The Remmie 3 is the next-generation FDA-registered wireless ear camera with a light, designed for patients of all ages, from parents of young children with ear infections, adults with allergies and chronic ear and sinus conditions, to older adults with hearing issues.
  • The Remmie 3 provides real-time video for image capture, as well as saving and sharing images and videos with your healthcare professional. It boasts an ergonomic and compact design, ensuring easy and secure usage wherever and whenever you need it.
  • An at-home/anywhere digital wireless ear camera + Cloud-enabled App enables patients/consumers to capture images and video within the ear (external ear canal and eardrum). Users can access the captured images/videos anytime and share symptoms directly from their phone with their physician.

Intended Use

  • The device provides illumination of the ear canal for observation by using a battery-powered LED light source and an optical magnifying imaging system.
  • Please read the instructions carefully for proper operation. Improper or faulty operation may cause the device to malfunction or harm the user.
  • Children under the age of 18 should not be permitted to use the device.
  • The use of an otoscope is recommended to be done by or under the guidance of a professional.

Safety Information and Warnings

  • The disposable specula must be used and locked in place by twisting them against the groove over the metal probe.
  • NEVER use the otoscope without the speculum.
  • Dispose the speculum after each use.
  • The device should never reach or touch the object being monitored, for example, the eardrum.
  • Do not clean the device with water with a temperature above 122 °F, otherwise the camera lens may be damaged.
  • Ear wax could obscure or blur the camera view. Only use the alcohol wipes to clean the LED Light camera view, at the tip of the specula.
  • Do not use the device when there is an open wound or effluent from the bodily cavities in the area being observed.
  • Inserting the device too deep could cause injury to the body tissue.
  • Only use the lowest illumination necessary to capture the best image.
  • Avoid looking into the LED Light.
  • Keep device out of reach of children.

Instructions for Use

  • Step 1, Download the Remmie 3 App – Go to App Store or Google Play Store to download the app.

  • Step 2, Open the Remmie 3 App

  • Step 3,

    • If you already have an account, enter your email and password, then click ‘Login’ on the
      “Welcome to Remmie3” page, then proceed to the “Connect to the Device” section 5.2.

    • If you are a first-time user, click the ‘Register here’ button on the “Welcome to Remmie 3” page, then proceed to the “Create a New Account” section 5.1.

  1. Create a New Account
    Step 1, Please follow the on-screen instructions to sign up by providing the necessary information, and then proceed by clicking the ‘Register’ button.

    • Step 2, Please check your email inbox for the verification email and click the link in the email to verify your email address and activate your account. If you have not received the verification email, please check your “Spam” folder.
  2. Connect to the Device
    Step 1, Press the ‘Power’ button on the device to turn it on and wait for the LED light to illuminate. Then, click the ‘Next’ button to proceed. Note: one of the 6 LED lights will start to flash, indicating a “Ready to connect” state. Device will power off if left idling for more than 5 minutes.

    • Step 2, For safety, the disposable speculum (black tip) must be used and locked in place by twisting it against the groove over the metal probe to protect your ear canal. Note: NEVER use the device without the disposable speculum (black tip)
    • Step 3, You may be asked to grant several permissions, such as photo and location access, the first time you use the Remmie app in order for it to operate properly.
    • Note : The app requires these permissions to discover and connect to the Remmie device automatically and to save captured videos and images to your smartphone/tablet.
    • Step 4, Waiting for the app to connect to the device and load the live video.
    • Step 5, If your device does not connect to the home Wi-Fi, you will be prompted to ask if you would like to configure the device to connect to the home Wi-Fi now.
    • Click ‘Set Up Now’ to configure the device to connect to the home Wi-Fi now, then proceed to the “Configure the Device” section 5.3.
    • Click ‘Set Up Later’ to view the live feed without the home Wi-Fi connection.
    • Step 6, The live view will load, and you can now enjoy the live feed on the Remmie app.
  3. Configure the Device
    Step 1, The available Wi-Fi networks will appear on the list. Select the home Wi-Fi network you would like the device to connect to, then click the ‘Next’ button.

    • Step 2, Please enter the password of the Wi-Fi network that you would like the device to connect to, then click the ‘Submit’ button.

    • Step 3, Your device has successfully connected to your home Wi-Fi. Click the ‘Next’ button to proceed.

  4. How to Use the Remmie APP

    • Device Battery: indicates battery levels left. Greater than 30% of battery is optimal for proper function of the otoscope.
    • “Ear” Symbol: for adjusting brightness level and toggling AI image guidance, refer to Section 5.6 for details.
    • Note: for entering text information (max 20 characters) to annotate the preview. Text will appear in the lower left corner in the grey strip below the images and will be saved during photo capture.
    • Share Live View: for initiating a web share session with a remote viewer, refer to Section 5.5 for details.
    • Full Screen: expands the preview in full screen in a rotated view.
    • Date/Time: each image is time stamped by default with the local time.
    • Record: click once to start recording a video, click again to stop recording.
    • Photo: capture a still image. You will be able to view the saved videos and images in the “Remmie” album in the Phone/Tablet’s default photo gallery, and in the “Records” when you are logged in your account in the Remmie 3 App on any iOS/Android device.
    • Note: Each captured image will appear in a strip below the preview window. You can click on each image in the strip for review and will be prompted to enter symptoms notes. You can select from a list of symptoms checkbox or write free text to describe symptoms along with the images.
    • Zoom In/Out: toggle among three digital zoom settings, 1.8x (most Zoomed in, default), 1.5x, or 1.0x (Zoomed out).
    • Disconnect: stop the live preview. For proper operation, always disconnect before turning the otoscope off.
  5. How to share the live view remotely
    Step 1, After you see the live view on the Remmie APP, click the ‘Share’ icon.

    • Step 2, Click the ‘Agree & Create’ button to generate the live view session.
    • Step 3, After the live view session, click the ‘Send to my email’ button to send the invitation to your email. This way, you can easily share it with others.
    • Step 4, Please check your email inbox for the invitation email and share it with the person who will access the live view. The invitation email contains the URL, session ID, and password to join the live view share session. If you have not received the verification email, please check your “Spam” folder.
    • Step 5, Once the person receives the invitation, they can either click the URL link to join the live view session via a web browser, or they can visit the video.remmiehealth.com website and enter the session ID and password to join.
    • Step 6, To enable the other person to view the live stream from the website, you must be viewing the live stream from the Remmie 3 App. This may require a reconnect if you leave the Remmie 3
    • App to open email or other Apps and come back to the live view window. The ‘People’ icon will appear when the live view session is active.
    • Note : The live view session will expire after 10 minutes of inactivity. To generate a new share session after the previous one has expired, simply click the ‘Share’ button again.
    • Step 7, When you click the ‘People’ icon, you can either delete the share session immediately, remove viewers, or view the active/inactive participants.
  6. How to Use AI Guidance and Adjust Brightness

    • Step 1, Click the ‘Ear’ icon to select the brightness level between Auto Brightness, Brightness +, and Brightness Max (Default). The AI guidance will assist you in recognizing the eardrum during the live view. To enable AI guidance, select the Eardrum icon with image guidance.
    • Note: At this moment, AI guidance is only supported on the iOS app. You may experience a 2-second lag in live view with eardrum image guidance enabled.
    • Step 2, After the AI guidance is enabled, you may see the yellow and blue box highlight eardrum features. The bounding boxes may not appear for every use.
    • Note : Bounding boxes do not indicate any health state and are not for measurement or diagnosis.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

  •  Why is my live view blurry or not clear?
    • The device’s lens may be covered by filled with earwax. You need to use alcohol wipes or a microfiber cloth to gently wipe away smudges on the camera lens surrounded by LED lights.
  • How do I use the Remmie ear camera in the ear?
    • Click the ‘help’ icon on the “Live View” page, then click on ‘Video Guidance’ in the Help Center. You will see instructional videos regarding how to use the ear camera in the ear, how to clean the ear camera, etc.
  • What should I do if I experience any interruptions?
    • Make sure and check that device and your connected mobile device are both fully charged.
    • Make sure that the LED Light/camera tip is thoroughly cleaned with an alcohol wipe.
    • If you are experiencing interruptions, restart the App and device.
  • Why does my live view have significant lag?
    • Please bring the device closer to your home Wi-Fi router. If you still have issues, there may be a problem with your home Wi-Fi not providing sufficient bandwidth for video streaming.
  • Where can I reorder disposable specula?

Cleaning and Sterilization

  • Use alcohol wipes or a microfiber cloth to gently wipe away smudges on the camera lens surrounded by LED lights.
  • Do not submerge in water.
  • Avoid exposure or direct contact with corrosive liquids.
