Leather makes a great insulator and keeps your beverage cool for as long as you hold it. We’ve included (almost) everything you need to construct and finish your own, just follow the instructions below.

WHAT’S IN YOUR KIT

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Sewing Preparation
Our kit does not include glue, you will have to supply your own. In our example we use Elmer’s Craft glue. Any white crafting glue should do the trick.
- Prepare your thread for sewing. Attach one needle to both ends of a single piece of thread. You have 2 lengths of thread included in your kit; one is a spare.
- Put thread through the needle eye, then pull the thread through about 5 cm. Take that same needle and pierce the length of thread you pulled through the needle eye. Then pull the thread to complete a knot.
- Repeat step these steps on the other end of the thread. You should have one length of thread with 1 needle knotted on both ends.
Step 2: Hand-Sewing (Baseball Stitch Method)

- Pull the needles through the two furthest holes on the “bottom” of the Hold n’ Hide as shown above and below. Make sure needles are equal length when pulled completely through.
- Bring the flap up toward the body of the Hold n’ Hide and tuck it underneath the two walls sides as shown.
- Pull the needles up through the bottom of Hold n’ Hide and double stitch the bottom as shown above and below.
- Insert a beverage can into the Hold n’ Hide. It’s easier if the can is unopened as this adds structural integrity while you sew up the seam.
- Choose one side to be the “upper” stitch to maintain a consistent pattern. In this example it’s always the left thread.
- Always pass your needle through the underside of leather stitching hole on the opposite side and then back up through the hole on the other side. Do two stitches with each needle to maintain a consistent stitch.
- Once you reach the end (top) of the Hold n’ Hide, double back-stitch the top two holes as shown. Tie the end of the stitch with a simple knot and use scissors to snip the remaining length of the needles.
- Carefully use your lighter to melt the 0.5cm length of thread, do not let the flame linger too closely to the leather or you risk burning the leather. Let the flame dance near the thread. Use the side of the lighter or your finger to flatten the melted bits of thread.
- All done! Enjoy your Hold n’ Hide!
