Product Information

Specifications:

  • Product: SPC Random Lengths Flooring
  • Installation Type: Drop Loc

Product Usage Instructions

Pre-Installation:
Before installation, carefully inspect the panels for any damage or dimensional deviations. Ensure that the planks match the decorative design you have chosen.

Installation Utensils Needed:

  • Spacer
  • Glue (recommended for added strength in intense traffic areas)

Installation Steps:

Step 1: Preparation
Open the boxes and separate the planks by lengths, placing them near the wall where you will begin the installation.

Step 2: First Row
Start laying planks from the left side of the starting wall, ensuring the tongue of the plank faces the wall. Use a spacer between the wall and the planks. Apply glue to the short sides of the first and last rows for added strength in high-traffic areas.

Step 3: Subsequent Rows
Stagger planks by a minimum of 8 inches (20.32 cm) for random lengths. Maintain a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) space around walls and vertical objects. Offset end joints at least 14 inches (35 cm). Use transition molding when needed to allow for expansion and preserve structural integrity.

Step 4: Adjustments
If the wall is not straight, mark and cut the panels accordingly. Ensure the first two rows are perfectly straight for a seamless installation.

FAQ:

  • Q: What should I do if I notice visual defects in the panels during installation?
A: Stop the installation immediately and contact our customer care department at 1-800-387-8953.

Important:
Please carefully verify the panels for any possible damage or deviation from standard dimensions before installation. Make sure the planks match the decorative design that you have selected. No complaints can be accepted in the case where panels have already been installed! In the event you notice visual defects in the panels STOP the installation immediately & contact our customer care department at 1-800-387-8953.

INSTALLATION UTENSILS

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Pencil
  • Utility knife
  • Measuring tape
  • Carpenter’s adjustable square
  • Long metal ruler
  • Pull bar
  • Tapping block
  • Spacers
  • Hammer
  • Knee protectors
  • Chalk line or laser to measure the space

Please use Quickstyle Industries’ approved accessories. Under no circumstances may panels be glued, nailed, or otherwise fixed (e.g., door stopper) to the sub-floor. The subfloor must be level, dry, clean, and firm. “High-spots” or “Depressions” on subfloor of more than 3mm must be sanded down or filled in with an appropriate filling compound. For installation on sub-floor radiant heating, please comply with special instructions which you can obtain from the manufacturer of your radiant heating systems.

Before starting installation:
Conditions in the room must be between 50 ºF to 100 ºF (10 ºC to 37 ºC) before and during installation.

INSTALLATION

STEP 1: Cleaning

  • Remove all unevenness and vacuum the entire subfloor area prior to beginning installation.
  • Never exceed a maximum deviation of 5mm when measured under a 3m long straight edge. High spots and ridges should be removed to prevent damaging the plank’s locking mechanism.

STEP 2: Open and separate by lengths
Open the boxes, then separate all the planks by the different lengths and place them close to the wall you want to start with the installation.

STEP 3: First row
Begin laying planks from the left side of the starting wall and work to the right side. The tongue of the plank should face the starting wall.

  • Intersperse the different lengths in a way that they are not repeated or are following a pattern
  • Place 3/8” (9.5mm) spacers between the short and long sides of the planks and the wall. Always position one spacer between the wall and where the planks join.

Note: For added strength, apply glue to the short side of the first and last rows. For intense traffic areas, it is recommended to apply Quickstyle glue to all short sides.

The end joints of the planks in the first row are assembled by overlapping the tongue side over the groove side of the previous plank ensuring that the planks are perfectly aligned, with firm pressure; push the end joint downward till the end of the plank snaps in place. Install the remaining full planks in the first row.

STEP 4: Last and first plank of the row
To complete the first row, measure the distance between the wall and the surface of the last full plank and subtract 3/8” (9.5mm) from this measurement and install in place and apply the spacer to keep flooring in place during installation.
The cut‐off piece from the last plank in the first row may serve as the first plank starter in the second row provided this cut-off piece is 8” (20.32cm) in length.

Always for random lengths, stagger planks during installation by a minimum 8” (20.32 cm).
Install the long side of the first plank of the second row. Place a 1/4” (6.35mm) spacer between the wall and the short side of the first plank. Insert the tongue side into the groove side of the previous row at a low angle and lower flat to the substrate.

Install the second plank of the second row. Position the long side of the plank with the tongue side, fully engage into the receiver of the first row of product. Lower the plank to the floor insuring that the end joint is overlapping and perfectly aligned, with firm pressure; push the end joint downward till the end of the plank snaps in place. Continue installing planks, in the second row. It is important to make sure that the first two rows are straight and square as they can affect the entire installation. Continue working from left to right, row by row. Be sure to maintain a 1/4” (6.35mm) space around all walls and vertical objects and maintain a random appearance. Remember to offset end joints a minimum of 14” (35cm).

Note: While installing a floating floor Quickstyle recommends maintaining uniform “expansion gaps” around the perimeter of the floor or at any vertical obstruction. It is also recommended placing a transition molding when required thus allowing for transitional expansion that preserves the structural integrity of the floating floor.

If the wall is not straight:
Place the first row against the wall, using a spacer and pencil; transfer (mark) the contour of the wall onto the panels. Saw along the markings. Note: the first row of panels must be cut longitudinally if the final row of panels is going to be narrower than 2″ (5cm).

Please take particular care to ensure that the first two rows are perfectly straight.

  • In tight spaces:
Use pull-iron and hammer to ensure planks are properly locked. Note: Never directly hammer planks as it will damage the flooring.

  • To finish:
On the last row you may have to cut along the length of the planks to make them fit in the remaining space (with the aid of the pull-iron and hammer). Finished!

Maintenance

Care – Cleaning – Climate & Humidity Control
Lay dirt-absorbing mats in high-traffic areas, (such as entrance halls and hallways). Apply felt pads underneath the furniture. For office chairs, use a chair mat to protect the floor.

  • Simply clean your Quickstyle Floating floor with a soft broom, a lightly dampened mop or a vacuum cleaner. Wipe off footmarks and dirt with a wrung-out (slightly dampened), cloth. Do not attempt to clean your Quickstyle Floating floor with wax, polish, or scouring materials. Stubborn stains can be removed with an approved floor cleaner.
  • Temperatures within the room must be maintained between 0 ºF to 140 ºF (-18 ºC to 60 ºC) Susceptible to temperature changes in its ambient environment, expansion and contraction is a fact of life. Extreme climate fluctuations indoors may cause slight deformation within the panels and minor separations between the joints of the floor.
  • Avoid direct ultraviolet (UV) exposure/sunlight for prolonged periods (especially during peak sun hours) as this may damage your floor.
  • Use UV protective film, blinds, shades, shutters or curtains to ensure that the flooring is protected from sun (UV) and is not overheated due to this exposure.
  • (Failure to protect flooring voids all warranties, express or implied, and releases Quickstyle Industries from any claims, damages, or liabilities that may arise).
  • It is vital to ensure that radiant heating systems are kept to a temperature that will not heat the floor above 29.4ºC (85ºF) (please comply with special instructions which you can obtain from your radiant heating systems retailer
