IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged Battery or USB Adapter, or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest Authorised Service Facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
  7. If the Battery is damaged, it must be replaced by the KitchenAid, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  8. The use of accessories/attachments not recommended or sold by the KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  9. Keep hands and utensils away from moving blade while grinding food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the Blade Coffee Grinder. A scraper may be used only when the Blade Coffee Grinder is not running.
  10. Blade is sharp. Care should be taken when emptying the Bowl and during cleaning.
  11. Be certain Top Cover is securely locked in place before operating Blade Coffee Grinder.
  12. Do not attempt to defeat the Top Cover interlock mechanism.
  13. Refer to the “Care and Cleaning” section for instructions on cleaning the surfaces in contact with food.
  14. Disconnect the Battery from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing appliance. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the appliance accidentally.
  15. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting to Battery, picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the appliance with your finger on the switch or energizing an appliance with the switch on invites accidents.
  16. Recharge only with the charger specified by KitchenAid. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.
  17. Use appliances only with KitchenAid 12 VDC Battery. Use of any other batteries may create a risk of injury and fire.
  18. When the Battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, which can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the Battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  19. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the Battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the Battery may cause irritation or burns.
  20. Do not use a Battery or appliance that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
  21. Do not expose a Battery or appliance to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 129°C may cause explosion.
  22. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the Battery or appliance outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the Battery and increase the risk of fire.
  23. Never service damaged Battery. Service of Battery should only be performed by the KitchenAid or authorised service providers.
  24. Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  25. Check appliance for presence of foreign objects before using.
  26. Do not use Blade Coffee Grinder in rain or wet conditions. Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
  27. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  28. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  29. Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or the Battery.
  30. Do not operate Blade Coffee Grinder continuously for more than 30 seconds.
  31. Remove empty batteries from the appliance and safely dispose.

GETTING STARTED

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Charge the Battery until it is fully charged.
  2. Clean all the parts and accessories (see “Care and Cleaning” section).
  3. Remove all packaging materials, if present.

NOTE: Some dust may be on the product. This is due to the recycled materials used in packaging. This can be cleaned with a soft towel.

BATTERY CHARGING

USING THE USB CABLE

  1. Attach the USB Cable to the USB Adapter*. Connect the other end of the USB Cable to the Battery. USB Adapter is not provided with the product and not sold separately by KitchenAid.
  2. Plug the USB Adapter into a power source.

USING THE DOCKING STATION (OPTIONAL)

  1. Attach the USB cord to the USB Adapter.
  2. Plug the USB Adapter into a power source.
  3. Place the Battery into the slot in the charger.
  4. Upon placing the Battery into the charger, the Battery LEDs will alternate for a few seconds as the charger performs a self-diagnostic of the Battery status.
  5. After diagnostic is complete, the Battery will begin charging with a single LED flashing. LEDs will become solid as charging progresses. Battery is fully charged when all LEDs are solid.

NOTE: If initial alternating light pattern continues for more than 10 seconds, the Battery may be too warm or too cold to charge. Unplug Battery and allow it to stabilise to a normal room temperature and try charging again. If Battery still does not charge after this, unplug Battery and contact customer service.

BATTERY STATUS

Full charge: The Battery will be fully charged in approximately 3 hours.
NOTE: LED Legend Indicator:

NOTE: When the Battery is installed or when the appliance is operated, the Battery charge status LEDs will display for 5 seconds and then turn off. If the Battery charge is 10% or less, the indicator light will continue to flash until the unit is no longer in use or Battery is removed.

NOTE: It is best to store your appliance at room temperature.

PRODUCT USAGE

OPERATING BLADE COFFEE GRINDER

NOTE: Make sure the Battery is fully charged before using.
To Use Blade Coffee Grinder:

  1. Make sure the inside of the Top Cover is free of coffee grinds or residue.

  2. Place the Bowl in the Motor Housing until it is seated properly.

  3. Fill the Bowl to the desired amount of beans up to the maximum fill line.

  4. Place the Top Cover onto the Bowl and twist clockwise (right) to lock. The Top Cover will click when locked into place. NOTE: Make sure both Top Cover and Bowl are in position; otherwise, the Blade Coffee Grinder will not operate.

  5. Insert the Battery on the Battery slot located at the back of the appliance, making sure it is aligned. The LED will light and display the Battery level for five seconds, then turn off.

  6. Press down on the Button to start processing. For optimum grinding results, do not pulse the top Button. Continue grinding until all the beans are ground to the desired consistency.

  7. To stop processing, release the Button.

  8. Wait until the blade has stopped rotating and remove Top Cover.

  9. Remove Bowl from the Motor Housing.

  10. . Pour out ground coffee. A scraper may be needed to remove residual coffee grounds from the Bowl. NOTE: If coffee grounds stick to sides of Bowl, use a utensil to remove grounds from Bowl when appliance is off and avoid fingers coming into contact with the blade.
    NOTE: The coffee grinder cup is not intended to grind spices.

  11. Press and hold the battery unlock button to remove the Battery.

CARE AND CLEANING

IMPORTANT: Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

  1. Always remove the Battery from the Blade Coffee Grinder before cleaning.
  2. Remove the Bowl and Top Cover. Wash in hot, soapy water, rinse, and dry. Bowl and Top Cover can also be washed in the dishwasher (top rack only). After removing from the dishwasher, allow to cool before reassembling.
  3. Wipe the Motor Housing clean with a damp, soft cloth. NOTE: Do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not immerse the Motor Housing in water.
  4. Reassemble your Blade Coffee Grinder after cleaning.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM SOLUTION
If the Cordless Blade Coffee Grinder fails to start Check if the Removable

Battery is charged and installed properly.

Charge the Battery when the Battery LEDs indicate low state of charge.

If the Removable Battery is not getting charged| If you have a circuit breaker box, make sure that the circuit is closed.
If the problem cannot be corrected| See the “Customer Service” sections. Do not return the Cordless Blade Coffee Grinder to the retailer. Retailers do not provide service.
