Product Usage Instructions
Prepare for Upgrade

Install the EcowittISPTool V1.0.0 software on a Windows
PC. -
Download the firmware WS85_Vx.x.x_APP.hex file.

Obtain a USB to micro-USB type A data cable (not included in
the package).
Upgrade Process

Remove the white silicone sleeve from the WS85 device.

Connect the WS85 to the PC using a USB data cable (ensure it is
a data cable and not just for charging). -
Press the RESET button on the WS85 to enter boot mode.

The LED on the top of WS85 will flash quickly.

Double-click on EcowittISPTool V1.0.0(EN).exe after unzipping
the upgrade file. -
Click on Select to add the firmware.

Choose the hex file and then click open.

Click Update to start the upgrade process.

If it shows “Upgrade successful!”, the upgrade is completed
successfully. -
If it shows “Upgrade failed”, review your operation and contact
support if needed. -
Caution: Ensure that the waterproof cover of
the USB port is closed before re-installing the white silicone
sleeve.

Upgrade: 1. Remove the white silicone sleeve from WS85
2. Use a USB data cable to connect the WS85 and PC. (Note: Not every USB
cable you use for charging is a data cable.)
3. Press “RESET” button on the WS85 to enter boot mode
4. The LED will flash quickly on the top of WS85
5. Double-click “EcowittISPTool V1.0.0(EN).exe” after unzipping the upgrade file 6. Click “Select” to add firmware 7. Choose the hex file and then click “open” 8. Click “Update”
9. If it shows “Upgrade successful!”, then you have done well 10. If it shows “failed” then please checking your operation, and then contact our support.
11. Caution!!! Ensure that the waterproof cover of the USB port is closed. And then install the white silicone sleeve.
Troubleshooting: In principle, it doesn’t matter if the USB outlet you use on your computer is USB2.0 or USB3.0; USB ports, generally, can be “moody” pieces and be a nightmare. Sometimes, you have to reboot your computer first to get it to work electrically properly. Sometimes, a simple restart/reboot is not enough (warm restart), but you need a complete shutdown and a subsequent restart (cold restart) to get “the electricity” straight. Sometimes, you must change the USB port or computer before the connection gets adequately established.
