Product Usage Instructions

Relearning Procedure
Follow these steps for the relearning procedure:

  1. Check if the vehicle has a direct TPMS system installed.
  2. Record the status by checking valves and sensors.
  3. During tire mounting or demounting, pay attention to sensor positions.
  4. Install sensors/valves following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Configure/program universal sensors or clone OE sensor.
  6. Relearn the sensors to the vehicle.

Installation Information for IntelliSens UVS and RDE TPMS Sensors
For mounting UVS and RDE sensors, the following tools are required:

  • Suitable TPMS valve (usually included)
  • Torque wrench with 4 Nm
  • TPMS diagnostic tool

What is a TPMS Diagnostic Tool Needed For?
A TPMS diagnostic tool is needed for the following purposes:

  • Checking TPMS sensors installation and condition
  • Accessing technical information like part number and relearn procedure
  • OBD connection for relearning new TPMS sensors
  • Configuring/programming universal sensors

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Do I need to reprogram original replacement sensors?
No, original replacement sensors like RDE and ECR come pre-programmed with vehicle-specific protocols and do not require reprogramming.

  2. How do I know if my vehicle needs a TPMS?
In Europe, vehicles (class M1) registered since November 2014 and commercial vehicles registered after specific dates are required to have TPMS systems.

GUIDELINE TPMS-SERVICE PASSENGER VEHICLE

  • LEGAL SITUATION IN THE
In Europe, ECE R 141 stipulates that all vehicles (class M1) newly registered since November 2014 must be equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
For commercial vehicles and their trailers (classes M2, M3, N1, N2, N3, O3, O4), a TPMS has been mandatory for all newly homologated vehicles since July
  1. From July 2024, all newly registered commercial vehicles must be equipped with TPMS.
  • DIRECT AND INDIRECT SYSTEMS
Directly measuring TPMS record the tire pressure and tire temperature in each wheel. Direct systems can detect both gradual and rapid pressure losses and, depending on the vehicle manufacturer, display them directly in the driver information system. Indirect TPMS systems do not measure the pressure in the tires, but use the signals from the wheel speed sensors to calculate the air pressure loss. No additional TPMS sensors are installed.

  • Note: Two thirds of all new passenger cars have a direct measuring tire pressure monitoring system.

  • UVS AND ECS UNIVERSAL SENSORS Maximum flexibility: With the IntelliSens universal sensors UVS and ECS, BH SENS offers two types for different requirements. The universal sensors have a large number of protocols pre-in-stalled and only need to be activated and relearned to the vehic-le. With the update function, future vehicle protocols can also be programmed onto the sensor via a TPMS diagnostic tool.

  • Advantages of universal sensors

    • Over 97% vehicle coverage
    • Clone function

RELEARNING PROCEDURE

  • If TPMS original replacement sensors (RDE and ECR sensors) are installed or universal sensors (UVS and ECS sensors) are confi-gured/programmed, these must be taught to the vehicle‘s control unit (depending on the vehicle model, not the sensor). Automatic relearn: The vehicle automatically recognizes the sensors while driving.
  • OBD: The TPMS sensors are relearned using a diagnostic tool via the OBD connector.
  • Manual relearn : The vehicle is set to relearn mode via the vehicle menu when stationary. The sensors are taught to the control unit via instructions. A TPMS diagnostic device is required for this.
  • RDE AND ECR ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT SENSORS Wide selection: With the RDE and ECR sensors, BH SENS of-fers two types for different requirements. The pre-programmed TPMS sensors already have the vehicle-specific protocol pre-installed and no longer need to be programmed. After instal-lation, the relearning to the vehicle is mandatory. The RDE and ECR sensors only fit the vehicle types specified in each case. Reprogramming is not possible.
  • Advantage of original replacement sensors
    • No programming necessary

PROCESS SERVICE/MOUNTING

  1. Check if the vehicle has a direct TPMS
  2.  Record status (check valves and sensors)
  3. When (de)mounting tires, pay attention to the position of the sensors
  4. Install sensors/valves according to manufacturer‘s instructions
  5. Configure/program universal sensors or clone OE sensor
  6. Relearn the sensors to the vehicle

Note:
All BH SENS IntelliSens sensors are mounted on the rim with a torque of 4 Nm.

INSTALLATION INFORMATION FOR INTELLISENS UVS AND RDE TPMS SENSORS

For mounting the UVS and RDE tire pressure sensors with clamp-in metal valve are required:

  1. Suitable TPMS valve (usually included in the scope of delivery)
  2.  Torque wrench with 4 Nm
  3. TPMS diagnostic tool

For garages, there are two standard situations that occur in connection with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS):

  • TPMS signal lamp lights up or flashes (incorrect tire pressure, system error ne. g. sensor battery empty)
  • Customer requests an additional set of wheels (with winter or summer tires)

The UVS and ECS universal sensors must be configured/programmed with a TPMS diagnostic tool before use!
For mounting the UVS and RDE tire pressure sensors with snap-in rubber valve are required:

  1. Suitable TPMS valve (usually included in the scope of delivery)
  2. Torque wrench with 1.25 Nm for Torx screw
  3. Mounting paste
  4. TPMS-Valve retraction tool
  5. TPMS diagnostic toolBH-SENS-UVS-TPMS-Service-Passenger-Vehicle- \(3\)
