PRECAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Thank you for choosing a SHARK AERON-GP. It is a quality helmet, perfectly
suited to use on the circuit and on the road. The AERON-GP benefits from all
of SHARK’s experience in the field of safety. It has been designed only for
use on a motorbike. While it complies with international standards, this
helmet cannot protect its user in all circumstances. Before use, please read
all the recommendations below. Wearing this helmet should not make you forget
to remain careful.
Standard: This SHARK AERON-GP helmet is approved and complies with regulation
UNECE R 22/06. This helmet therefore complies with the requirements imposed in
all countries recognizing this standard on their territory.
CAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
-
Even though our helmets meet worldwide safety standards for helmet production, always drive carefully.
A helmet cannot fully protect the rider from all possible collisions at high or low speed. Any safety gear has its limits, and a head injury is possible in an accident despite the use of a helmet. However, to protect yourself from a fatal accident or from permanent brain impairment, size of the helmet must absolu-tely fit your head size and the chinstrap must be properly fastened and locked as indicated in the leaflet. -
This helmet is designed to cushion impact via the partial destruction of the shell and/or the internal shock absorber. This damage may not be apparent. Therefore, if the helmet suffers an impact, even simply being dropped to the ground, it must be returned to be checked, replaced, or destroyed, even if it does not appear damaged. If there is any doubt, and if you are not sure that this rule applies for the impact in question, contact your supplier before using the helmet again.
-
Like any product, a helmet can deteriorate over time depending on the conditions of use. Please check the helmet for signs of deterioration or damage before each use. The size of the helmet should always match the size of your head. If not, then the helmet has expanded, and you need to replace it. Never wear a damaged helmet. Even if the helmet is not damaged or deteriorated, it is recommended to change it five years after purchase.
-
Do not make any changes to the helmet. Never pierce or cut any part of the helmet. Any change may damage the helmet, and therefore reduce its effectiveness in protecting you from an impact.
-
Handle the helmet with care. Never sit on it or throw it on the ground.
Never drive with your helmet hanging on any part of the bike. -
Never use petroleum or petroleum products, chemicals, or any other solvent to clean the helmet, shell, or visor. Additionally, never expose your helmet to the vapours of these solvents (for example, by leaving it on the fuel cap of your motorcycle). The helmet could be seriously damaged by these chemical agents, without it being apparent, therefore reducing the effectiveness of the helmet in protecting you. Use only mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth to clean and wipe the helmet and visor.
-
Never apply paint, stickers or tape to your shell or visor. These could damage your helmet, without it being apparent, and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the helmet in protecting you.
-
No customization or modification on the helmet should alter the original design and manufacturing quality. The addition of accessories not approved by the helmet manufacturer (action camera, communication kit, decal accessories…) may alter the protective performance guaranteed by the helmet manufacturer. Only accessories recommended and assessed by the manufacturer during the helmet homologation process can guarantee that the protective performance of the helmet remain in line with the homologation standards. Approved accessories should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions indicated on this leaflet.
-
A reduction in hearing, field of vision and head movements will be noted when wearing the helmet. Please adapt your driving accordingly.
-
Dry your helmet at room temperature. Never expose it to a temperature above approximately 160°F/70°C, which could, for example, happen if your helmet was left on the passenger seat or in the trunk of a car. Always keep the helmet away from heat sources, such as the exhaust pipe or the bike casing.
-
For any comments or questions regarding the helmet, please contact SHARK or your nearest supplier.
CAUTION! We do not guarantee the ability of this product to fully protect the user from all possible collisions at high or low speed, or from injuries that could be fatal. The helmet user recognizes and acknowledges that there are risks inherent to driving a motorbike, which are not limited to collisions of any kind, at high or low speed. By purchasing and using this product, the user expressly, voluntarily, and consciously assumes and accepts these risks, and releases SHARK from any liability up to the maximum limit admissible by law, for any damage that may result therefrom.

CAUTION! For roadway travel in France, the highway code requires that safety
reflectors (supplied separately in a pouch) are affixed in in accordance with
the attached diagram.
CAUTION! Since the United States has specific regulations, helmets that are
only ECE approved must not be used in these territories without additional
DOT- FMVSS 218 approval.
WARNING! No helmet can fully protect the user from all possible collisions at high or low speed. However, for effective protection, the helmet must be the right size and the chin strap must be properly tightened as indicated in the manual. It is dangerous to use a helmet that does not fit properly or to tighten the chin strap closure system incorrectly, because the helmet could come off your head in the event of an accident, causing serious or fatal injury.
CHOOSING YOUR SIZE
Each helmet from XS to XXL is designed for a given head size. To measure your head circumference, use a tape measure by circling it horizontally 2.5 cm above your eyebrows. If the measurement is between two sizes, try the smallest helmet first. However, due to different skull shapes, size references are only for guidance to the size best suited to your head. For effective protection, it is necessary to ensure that the helmet fits your head well. When you choose a new helmet, ensure that your head is firmly encased in the helmet, with the top of the field of vision positioned above the eyebrows. Also ensure that the chin strap is properly tightened as indicated on the following page.
- The head must be fully covered by the helmet and the cheeks must pro-vide good support. If this is not the case, the chosen helmet is too large, so try a size smaller. See Figure A.
- With the chin strap properly tightened, make sure the helmet does not move too much from left to right and from top to bottom. You should feel your skin of your head and face pulling when you move the helmet. If this is not the case, the chosen helmet is too big, so try a smaller size. See Figure B.
- With the chin strap tight, grab the back of the helmet by the base and try to remove it from your head in a rotational motion. Then try to re-move the helmet by grabbing it by the base of the chin strap. You must do these movements with sufficient force. If the helmet starts to come loose, the chosen helmet is too big, so try a smaller size.
- Lean your head forward as far as possible. The bottom of the chin guard should not touch your chest. See Figure C.
- Lean your head backward as far as possible. The bottom of the helmet should not touch your back.
See Figure D.
Do not have your hair rolled up or bound inside the helmet. Do not put anything in or on your hair inside the helmet. Do not add anything inside the helmet to adjust its position on your head.
For any questions regarding the choosing the right helmet size, ask your
retailer for advice. Each of these steps must be repeated throughout the life
of the helmet because the foam padding can change over time. If the helmet
does not maintain the correct size over its service life it will need to be
replaced.
WARNING! Never lend your helmet without ensuring, in accordance with the
instructions in this manual, that it suits the person well.
WARNING! If, by following these instructions, you cannot find a perfectly
fitting helmet, DO NOT USE IT. Choose a different size or model.
CAUTION! Never use
the loop as the only closure for the chin strap. In order to be properly
tightened, the chin strap must pass through the double-D ring strap according
to the instructions. Any improper use of the chin strap can cause your helmet
to be expelled in the event of an accident, leaving your head without any
protection. Try pulling on the chin strap with your fingers.
If the strap becomes loose in any way, you have not properly closed the chin
strap in the double-D ring straps. Then repeat the steps described opposite.
Never ride with the chin strap open, incorrectly closed or incorrectly
positioned. Even if your cheeks feel like the helmet provides a secure fit, it
would be ejected in an accident, leaving the head without any protection.
If in doubt about the helmet closing system, do not use the helmet. Ask your
retailer for advice.
DOUBLE-D RING STRAP
This helmet is equipped with an exclusive magnetic system called AUTO-LOCK allowing you to adjust your chin strap very quickly. The presence of magnets on either side of the chin strap protectors is a reference to facilitate the installation of the chin strap protectors, under the chin. See Figure A.vb
- Slide the longest part of the chin strap through the two rings, while ensuring that the comfort pad is correctly posi-tioned between the strap and the neck. See Figure B.
- Make a loop with the end of the chin strap around the outer ring and pass it back through the inner ring. See Figure C.
- Pull on the end of the strap until the chin strap is properly tightened. The chin strap should be positioned against the neck, not under the chin. It should be as tight as possible without hurting or hindering breathing. See Figure D.
- Fasten the snap on the free end of the strap to prevent the strap from trailing in the air. See Figure E.
CAUTION! Magnets can produce a broad and powerful magnetic field.
Pacemakers
Magnets can influence the functioning of pacemakers, implanted defibrillators
and/or other prostheses and/or devices. If you wear one of these devices, it
is recommended to keep a safe distance from magnets.
Effect on connected objects
SIM cards, credit cards, debit cards, badges, magnetic cards in general,
computer media, memories, acoustic devices, speakers, mechanical watches,
compasses, radios, remote controls and/or objects or devices, etc. can be
damaged by intense magnetic fields. They should be kept away from magnets.
Magnets can produce a strong attractive force. If handled carelessly, fingers or skin could become trapped between two magnets. This can lead to bruising and hematoma in the parts involved.
Shards
Magnets can chip; violent collisions between them must therefore be avoided.
The magnets have a thin coating to protect them against corrosion. This
coating can chip or crack due to collisions or high pressure; if the magnets
remain directly exposed to atmospheric agents, such as humidity, for a long
time, they can oxidize.
Effects on people
According to current knowledge, the magnetic fields of magnets have no
measurable effect, positive or negative, on people. It is unlikely that the
magnetic field of a magnet represents a health hazard, but this risk cannot be
completely excluded. For safety, avoid direct and prolonged contact with the
magnets.
CHIN STRAP PROTECTOR ADJUSTMENT
The AERON-GP has chin strap protectors with adjustable length.
- A – Undo the Velcro part where it says “REMOVABLE” to separate the protectors from their part of the chin strap.
B / C – Once the chin strap is completely separated from its protector, you can slide and adjust the length of the chin strap. Adjust the chin strap protector to the new strap length available. Reconnect the strap and its protector using the Velcro.
NOTE: the chin strap protectors can be completely removed from the chin strap and therefore separated from the helmet to be washed; see P.15 for the maintenance instructions.
PUTTING ON THE HELMET
To put on the helmet, detach
the chin strap, grasp the chin strap fasteners on either side of the helmet
and move them outwards to make it easier for your head to pass through. It is
recommended, in the same movement, to hold the two chin strap fasteners
outwards with your thumbs so that they remain well positioned to make it
easier to attach the helmet once it is put on.
Properly position the chin strap protectors and lock the chin strap, referring
to the tightening recommendations. Check that the fit of the helmet and the
tightening tension of the chin strap are correct.
REMOVING THE HELMET
Unfasten the chin strap, move each of the chin strap fasteners outward to
facilitate removal of the helmet. Carry out the procedure for putting on the
helmet in reverse.
CAUTION! If you cannot correctly lock the chin strap, or you are unable to put
the helmet on your head correctly, DO NOT USE IT! Contact your retailer for
assistance.

If you are not sure that the interior has been reassembled correctly, do not
use your helmet. Contact your retailer for assistance and advice.
INTERIOR CLEANING
- The internal textile parts are washable. In order not to damage them it is important to carefully follow the advice below:
- The cheek pads and liner should be washed by hand in lukewarm, soapy water (approximately 30°C). Do not use aggressive detergent products. Use either a small amount of detergent for delicate textiles or Marseille soap. It is essential to dry the textiles and foams completely before use. They must be dried at room
- temperature. Never iron textile items. For leather-look or textile parts attached to safety elements, use a slightly damp sponge or cloth with a little Marseille soap, then rinse with plain water.
- Avoid using too much water on polystyrene elements.
- It is essential to ensure that all interior parts are perfectly dry before using the helmet.
- CAUTION! Damaging the interior foams compromises the correct size of your helmet. If it no longer fits your head, the helmet may come off, leaving your head unprotected and causing serious, even fatal injury.
TEXTILES
- The comfort textiles and foams of the AERON-GP will allow you to better appreciate the performance of your helmet. The parts in contact with your skin are made of a fabric that ensures comfortable contact, good perspiration absorption and good resistance to aging. Our fabrics that contact the skin, are treated to limit the proliferation of bacteria, and therefore, bad odours.
- CAUTION! Although selected for their qualities of strength and durability over time, all parts of the interior covering are subject to normal wear depending on care and maintenance, duration of use as well as the acidity of your sweat. If you notice aging, we advise you to replace your interior fittings in order to maintain a perfectly clean helmet over time and ensure the necessary comfort. Your retailer will be able to offer you replacement parts, and also optionally offer you cheek pads of different thicknesses and densities in the event that the standard choice does not suit your face shape.
- WARNING! Every time you put on your helmet, ensure that it fits your head.
ANTI-FOG BREATH GUARD
The anti-fog breath guard greatly reduces air turbulence and helps to make the helmet completely soundproof.
However, you can remove it as follows:
- Starting with one side at a time, pull the guard towards you to release it from its location.
- Reinsert one side then the other to reposition it.

The AERON-GP is equipped with a spoiler designed to optimise aerodynamic
performance at very high speeds. Developed in partnership with our most
demanding racers, the spoiler reduces drag, eliminates the effects of
buffeting, and generates better stability as well as increased top speed.
To remain in compliance with current safety standards, the spoiler is designed
to eject in the event of a fall or significant mechanical stress. For this
reason, please respect the following precautions for use:
CAUTION! When using, transporting, or handling the helmet, certain precautions
must be observed to avoid damaging the spoiler. Failure to follow these
instructions will void the war ranty. Cases of dropping or tearing are also
excluded from the warranty. Do not try to tear off the spoiler. Do not grab
the helmet by the spoiler. Do not press on the spoiler (when cleaning, for
example). Do not try to remove the spoiler. Do not transport the helmet
without its bag (risk of snagging). Do not carry the helmet on your arm.
VISOR
- Visor lock
- Visor rotation axis
- – Lock roller
The visor of your AERON-GP helmet is the result of studies and developments
allowing you to have a visor of very high optical quality (optical class 1)
and safety.
The external face has received an anti-scratch treatment to extend the life of
your visor. The internal face has an exclusive anti-fog treatment, which can
be reactivated through careful maintenance to be as effective as possible over
time. It is therefore recommended to maintain your visor regularly.
VISOR REMOVAL

Your AERON-GP helmet can be equipped with a tear-off. A tear-off is a very thin plastic film which will act as an intermediate protection between your visor and the outside that can be easily renewed.
Please note: tear-offs are to be used only on closed circuits and are not
permitted on the road.
The AERON-GP visor is equipped with the fastening pins necessary to hold tear-
offs (visual A; pin indicated by the arrow).
ASSEMBLY TIPS
- The tear-off pins are mounted eccentrically; rotate them to reduce the distance between the two pins on either side of the visor.
- Place the tear-offs on the clean visor; once the tear-offs are positioned on the two pins, tighten the tear-offs by rotating the two pins to reduce the distance between the pins on either side of the visor.
CAUTION! Improper positioning of the tear-offs can impair your vision and lead to the risk of accidents.
FRONT VENT
- This front air inlet can be adjusted to the open or closed position by sliding the slider sideways.
UPPER VENTS
The upper vents, on either side of the top of the helmet, allow optimized air
circulation over the upper surface of your head.
With the cursor position moved to the front of the helmet, the vents are
closed. With the cursor position pulled back towards the rear spoiler, the
vents are open.
CHIN GUARD VENT
2 FUNCTIONS
-
This low vent ensures air flow on the internal surface of the visor in order to limit the risk of fogging. This function is permanently ensured with the shutter open.
-
This vent also ensures air entry to optimise the ventilation of your face. This vent has two positions to choose from to adjust according to your speed and the aerodynamics of your bike (Closed; Open).
