Instructions Manual

Required Accessories

• 7mm Pen Mandrel
• 3 Piece Bushing set
• 37/64” Drill Bit
• 15/32” Drill Bit
• Glue
• 2cm2cm13cm long blank

Preparing the Blanks

1. Cut blanks to the lengths of the tubes, adding 1.5mm for trimming.
2. Drill a 37/64” hole lengthwise through the shorter (upper) blank and a 15/32” hole through the longer (lower) blank.
3. Glue the tubes into the blanks. Coat the outside of the tube with glue and insert the tube into the blank with a twisting motion to spread the glue until flush. Allow it to dry.
4. Square the ends of the blanks to the tubes.

Turning the Blanks

1. Slide 7mm spacer bushings onto the mandrel shaft, followed by the tip bushing (small diameter) wide end first. Slide on the lower (long) blank. Next, add the centre bushing, narrow diameter first, followed by the upper blank (short) then the end bushing, narrow end first. Add additional spacer bushings as necessary to reach the mandrel threads.
2. Thread on the locknut hand tight. Bring the tailstock in snug to the mandrel, lock in place. Tighten the lock nut for turning. DO NOT over tighten the locknut – it could damage the mandrel.
3. Turn the barrels close to the bushing diameter with sharp tools (straight or to a profile of your choice). Sand the barrels to match the bushing diameter.
4. Finish the wood with your choice of polish

Assembly

1. Arrange the parts as shown in the diagram below. If any pieces are already together, unscrew them first.
2. Slide the clip onto the cap and press into the top of the upper barrel (shorter tube).
3.  Press the centre band coupler, black end first, into the opposite end of the upper barrel.
4.  Press the end cap coupler into the end of the lower barrel (long tube).
5.  Screw the coupler to the nib and then press into the other end of the long tube.
6.  ROLLERBALL PEN: Insert the spring and then the ink refill into the lower barrel. Thread the rollerball nib into the nib coupler.
   FOUNTAIN PEN: Attach the ink converter or cartridge to the end of the fountain nib, then thread the fountain nib into the nib coupler
