This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. Notes on the cord
a) A short power-supply cord (or detached power-supply cord) is provided to

Know Your Toaster

The First Use

As there is manufacturing residue or oil remaining in the toaster or on the heat element, it usually emits an odour the first time it is used. It is normal and will not occur after the toaster has been used a few times. Before toasting the first slice of bread it is strongly suggested to operate the appliance following below instructions, except without bread.

Operation

  1. Put bread slice into the bread slot. This toaster can toast four slices of toast at a time. This toaster is built to accommodate regular-sized pieces of bread. Some larger sizes may not fit.
NOTE: Make sure the crumb tray is completely positioned in place before using.

  2. Plug the power cord into the outlet.

  3. Set the toasting colour by turning colour control knob to your desired colour. There are 7 levels:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Turn clockwise to increase colour level; counter clockwise to decrease colour level. The bread slice can be toasted to golden colour at setting level 4. NOTE

  4. When using the bagel setting (only one side is toasted) the colour is darker at the same setting than it would be if both sides of the toast was being toasted.

  5. If using the toaster repeatedly, toasting colour for the later toast is darker than the colour of the toast made earlier at the same level.

  6. Press carriage handle down vertically until it is positioned in place, the Cancel indicator will be illuminated, and toasting begins. Once the bread has been toasted to the preset colour, the carriage handle will automatically pop up.
    NOTE:

  7. The carriage handle can only be latched when the appliance is connected to the power supply.

  8. During the toasted process, you may observe the toasting colour. If it is satisfactory, you may interrupt the toasting process by pressing the Cancel button at any time

  9. If the bread has been taken out of the refrigerator, set colour control knob to your desired colour, press carriage handle down vertically until it is positioned in place, then press Defrost button and the Defrost indicator will be illuminated. In this mode it will be toasted to your desired colour.

  10. If you only want to toast one side of the bread slice, press carriage handle down vertically until it is positioned in place, set colour control knob to your desired colour, then press the Bagel button and the indicator will be illuminated. In Bagel mode, only the Bagel button will be illuminated. The Cancel button will not be illuminated. In this mode, the heating elements toward the middle on each side are used, but the heating elements on the outer sides are not. Once the bread has been toasted to the preset colour, the carriage handle will automatically pop up

Caution

  1. Remove all protective wrapping prior to toasting.
  2. If toaster starts to smoke, press Cancel to stop toasting immediately.
  3. Avoid toasting the food with extremely runny ingredients such as butter.
  4. Never attempt to remove bread jammed in the slots without unplugging the toaster from the electrical outlet first. Be sure not to damage the internal mechanism or heating elements when removing bread.
  5. The bread slot is only applicable for toasting regular-sized bread slices.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. Disconnect the power supply before cleaning.
  2. Wipe the outside with soft, dry cloth after toaster cools down. Never use metal polish.
  3. Pull out crumb tray on bottom of toaster and empty it. If toaster is used frequently, accumulated bread crumbs should removed at least once a week. Make sure the crumb tray is completely closed before using the toaster again.
  4. When not in use or when in storage, the power cord may be wound under the bottom of toaster.
