GUIDE TO BREATHING
CLEAN AIR
KNOW WHAT’S IN THE
AIR YOU BREATHE
THE PRICE YOUR BODY PAYS
Tiny PM2.5 pollution can enter deep into the lungs and bloodstream.
This affects every part of the body, and can lead to serious diseases
including lung and heart disease.
PM2.5 is 20 times smaller than a human hair
Air Pollution’s Causes of Deaths…
5 TIPS TO BREATHE SAFE
1) USE AN AIR PURIFIER WHEN INDOORS
The data is clear: air purifiers improve health markers, and these are not
placebo effects.
A HEPA filter is (almost) all you need to protect yourself from most
pollutants – don’t be fooled by into paying thousands for clean air at home.
PURIFIERS IN ACTION
Dangerous particles stuck in filter, instead of your bloodstream.
AIR PURIFIERS & COVID-19
Although incredibly simple, HEPA filter air purifiers can also capture viruses, including the coronavirus.
2) MASK UP
Masks work! Data shows masks – including surgical masks – are effective at filtering PM2.5, viruses and bacteria. Multiple tests by Smart Air across a wide range of masks shows this.
3) KEEP TABS ON AIR QUALITY
Track outdoor air pollution using an AQI app on your phone. Use an air quality monitor to measure the air you breathe in your home.
4) STAY INDOORS WHEN POLLUTION IS BAD
Indoor pollution (PM2.5) levels are typically half of outdoor levels. On polluted days, remain indoors and turn on an air purifier
5) LET IN FRESH AIR REGULARLY
Harmful gases such as formaldehyde can build up indoors, as can viruses. When outdoor air pollution levels are low, open windows or doors to improve ventilation.
