Safety instructions

Intended use
This device is used for tuning wind instruments. Any other use or use under other operating conditions is considered to be improper and may result in personal injury or property damage. No liability will be assumed for damages resulting from improper use.

Danger for children
Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc. are disposed of properly and are not within reach of babies and young children. Choking hazard! Ensure that children do not detach any small parts (e.g. knobs or the like) from the unit. They could swallow the pieces and choke! Never let unattended children use electrical devices.

Where to use the product
Never use the product

  • in direct sunlight
  • in conditions of extreme temperature or humidity
  • in extremely dusty or dirty areas
  • at locations where the unit can become wet
  • near magnetic fields

Electromagnetic compatibility with other electrical equipment
Using the device near radios or TV sets may cause interference. Then increase the distance between the devices.

General handling

  • To prevent damage, never use force when operating the switches and controls.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water. Just wipe it with a clean dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners such as benzene, thinners or flammable cleaning agents.

Keep foreign substances from the unit!
Keep the device away from containers with liquids. Should any liquid get into the unit, this could lead to its destruction or fire. Be sure not to let any metal objects into the unit.

Using the device

Clip the device to your instrument. Keep the button pressed for 2 seconds to turn the device on or off. Select the desired tuning key. Press repeatedly the button to select ‘C’, ‘F’, ‘Bb’ or ‘Eb’ for tuning mode.

Press the button again within 3 seconds 8 × with an interval of < 1 s to set the desired reference tone (0 = 440 Hz – 9 = 449 Hz).

When you play a single note on your instrument the note name is displayed. The backlight changes and the fine tuning gauge indicates. If the backlight turns green and the gauge is centred, the note is in tune. If the backlight is white and the gauge needle is left of centre, the note is flat. If the backlight is white and the gauge needle is right of centre, the note is sharp.

Power saving function

If the unit detects no signal for 3 minutes after switching on it turns off automatically.

Battery replacement

Push on the marked area of the battery compartment cover on the rear side. Open the compartment, remove the exhausted battery and install a fresh battery of type CR2032 observing the correct polarity. Close the battery compartment. The battery life depends on the operating conditions.

If the device does not operate as described in this manual and turning power off and on again can’t solve the problem, remove the battery and insert it again to possibly fix the problem.

For the transport and protective packaging, environmentally friendly materials have been chosen that can be supplied to normal recycling. Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc. are properly disposed of. Do not just dispose of these materials
with your normal household waste, but make sure that they are collected for recycling. Please follow the notes and markings on the packaging.
