2.1 Connecting the Webserver Board to the Flex-2 Board Note: Your machine or
kit will come with the Webserver already connected to the Flex-2 Board.
Section 2.1 is for reference only and is only needed in the event the
Webserver is removed or needs to be replaced. Prior to performing any work;
turn off the machine and disconnect power to the machine by unplugging the
power cord from the wall outlet or by turning off the circuit breaker being
used by the machine. The Webserver connects to Flex-2 board through the
expansion connector. In the event there are other optional daughter boards
connected to the expansion connector make sure the Webserver is the “top”
board in the stack of optional daughter boards. Use the four supplied spacers
and mounting screws to securely mount the Webserver board.
The Webserver Board connects
here.

a Cat 6 twisted pair ethernet cable from the Webserver board to any of the
available “Ethernet” ports (1-4) of the Linksys N300 router. Then connect a
Cat 6 twisted pair ethernet cable from your main router, provided by your
internet service provider, to the yellow “Internet” port on the Linksys N300
router. Finally connect one end of the power adaptor cable to the power port
and the other end to an available power outlet.

2.3 Wrapping Up Installation Plug the machine back into the wall outlet and
turn on the machine.
Section 3 Accessing the Machine Remotely
Note: The Webserver has been tested with several browsers (e.g. Chrome,
Firefox, and Microsoft Edge) for compatibility. However, browsers are often
updated and this sometimes causes problems for web connected devices. If you
experience a problem please try a different browser. It is easy to mix up WAN
(Wide Area Network) with LAN (Local Area Network). Both have an IP address.
The Webserver’s LAN IP address is used internally at the location of the
Webservers installation and by other computers and routers at that location.

The LAN is then connected through a router to a modem that connects to the
Internet. The modem is normally provided by the ISP (Internet Service
Provider), for example by Comcast or AT&T.
The modem is assigned a WAN IP address by the ISP. This WAN IP address is the
address used to access the machine remotely. A WAN IP address can be static
(meaning it does not change) or dynamic (meaning it always changes). A static
WAN address is required for remote access of the Webserver. You need to
contact your ISP to request a static WAN IP address. Some Internet Service
Providers can setup their routers with the static IP or help the customer set
their own router.
Step 1 – Find WAN IP address
Validate the static WAN IP address given by the ISP (Internet Service
Provider) visiting https://whatismyipaddress.com/ Once validated, be sure to
make a copy of the IP address displayed as this address will be used to access
the machine remotely. This step must be done at the Webserver’s location.
Step 2 – Connect from a remote location
Open your web browser of choice and type the static WAN IP address from step 1
followed by a colon and then 80. See example below.
http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:80. The XXXs represent the static WAN IP address.
Step 3 – Logging In
Once Step 2 had been complete successfully the login page will appear. You
will be asked to enter a password. The password used here is the same as the
access code for the machine. By default all equipment is shipped out with an
access code of 1234. This can be changed in the program menu of the machine.
Once the code has been entered press the Submit button to acknowledge the
entry.

hoffmanmint.com Email Tab Continued Update: As of November 23, 2020 Yahoo is
no longer supported by the Webserver. A gmail account is required in order to
receive email updates from the machine.
The following information is needed from the email provider: · Email SMTP
Server · Email authentication (S = TLS/SSL) · Email port number
Important: Some providers need security settings be changed to allow alerts to
be sent. Most providers have this information public and can be retrieved by
making a simple search as such:
This search will give you SMTP server settings for the provider GMAIL. As seen
below, all the information needed can be extracted for this provider.

For example, Gmail requires the following security settings be changed: My
Account -> Sign-in & Security -> Allow less secure Apps Because there are
several providers available, it is difficult to know all the different
security settings required if any are needed. In the event alerts are not
being sent, contact the email provider for assistance.
Section 5 Troubleshooting Common Errors
Cannot access the Webserver’s LAN IP. There are several reasons this can
occur; the following are a couple of steps to take: Step1. Make sure the
Webserver’s network connector LED1 or LED2 are on. If your network does not
support (10/100), LED1 could be off, that’s OK. Green LED labeled 5V next to
component U13_1 must be on, showing power to the Webserver. Step2. LED Rx and
Tx will be flashing, showing communication between the unit and the Webserver.
Step3. It is important that the LAN IP address selected for the Webserver does
not match any other device IP address on the network or it will conflict.
Step4. At the time of release, the Webserver was tested with browsers Mozilla
FireFox (25.0) and Google Chrome (30.0.1599), its recommended to upgrade if
necessary.

Avoiding Network Issues
Perform this test to determine if the problem you are experiencing is network
related or hardware related.
To bypass the local network, the Webserver can be connected straight to a
laptop or PC. Simply connect a straight thru cable from the Webserver to the
laptop or PC and open a web browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla FireFox) and
type the IP Address (example: http://192.168.1.1). This step is performed in
order isolate the hardware from the network. If you are able to connect then
the issue you are experiencing is network related. If this step doesn’t open
the Webserver’s page, you can try the following:
Step1. Open the software that shipped with the Webserver (IP Setup). Make sure
that the Webserver is powered before proceeding. Once the software opens, the
Webserver will appear under “Select a Unit”. The IP address will be displayed
after the word “at”.
Step2. Use the IP Setup software to match the IP settings of the laptop. Make
sure not to use the same IP address on either the laptop or the Webserver.
Example: Laptop’s IP Address 192.168.1.1, then change Webserver’s IP Address
to 192.168.1.2. The Network Mask, Gateway, and DNS can be the same. After
changes have been done, click on the Set button to accept changes.
