IMPORTANT   SAFEGUARDS

When using an electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be taken, including the following:

1.  Read all instructions.

2.  Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow cooling before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

4. To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, DO NOT IMMERSE CORD, PLUG OR BASE UNIT in water or other liquids.

5. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance has malfunctioned or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest Cuisinart Authorized Service Facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.

7.  The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Cuisinart may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

8.  Do not use outdoors.

9.  Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

10.  Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

11. Always put the kettle on base, then plug the cord into a wall outlet. To disconnect, push the button to OFF, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
    CAUTION: Do not operate your appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet. When storing any appliance in an appliance garage, always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. Be sure the appliance does not touch the interior wall of the appliance garage, and the door does not touch the unit as it closes. Contact could cause the unit to turn on, creating a risk of fire.

12.  Do not use appliances other than its intended use.

13.  Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle.

14.  Lock lid securely onto kettle before serving any beverages.

15.  The kettle is designed for use only with the power base provided. It must never be used on a range top.

16.  This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS:
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a long extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The extension cord should be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord, and the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
For your protection, this unit is equipped with a 3-conductor cord set that has a molded 3-prong, grounding-type plug, and should be used in combination with a properly connected grounding-type outlet as shown in Figure A.
If a grounding-type outlet is not available, an adapter, shown in Figure B, may be obtained so that a 2-slot wall outlet can be used with a 3-prong plug. As shown in Figure C, the adapter must be grounded by attaching its grounding lug under the screw of the outlet cover plate.

NOTE : Do not remove the grounding prong.
CAUTION : Before using an adapter, it must be determined that the outlet cover plate screw is properly grounded. If in doubt, consult a licensed electrician. NeverB use an adapter unless you are sure it is properly grounded.
Note : The use of an adapter is not permitted in Canada.

UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Place the box on a large, sturdy, flat surface.
2.  Remove the instruction book and any other literature.
3.  Lift the power base from the box and remove the polybag.
4.  Remove the upper pulp molded insert.
5.  Lift the kettle from the box and remove the polybag.

We suggest you save all packing materials in the event that future shipping of the machine is needed. Keep all plastic bags away from children.

Your new Cuisinart® Cordless Electric Kettle features the latest technology to make boiling water quicker and easier than ever. This kettle is exceptionally simple to operate, but as with every new product, we suggest you read the following information carefully to familiarize yourself with the kettle’s use and care.

BEFORE USING FOR

THE FIRST TIME

Before using your Cuisinart® Cordless Electric Kettle for the first time, we recommend RINSE THE KETTLE WITH MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FRESHWATER IT ALLOWS. BOIL FRESH WATER INSIDE THE KETTLE TWO TO THREE TIMES AND DISCARD THE BOILED WATER BEFORE NORMAL USE.

OPERATION

1. Please put the appliance on ab heat-resistant flat surface.
2.  Press the lid knob backward and lift to open the lid.
3.  Fill the kettle with the desired quantity of cold water between the Min. and Max. level.
4. The kettle is equipped with a borosilicated glass body. It is important to avoid thermal shocks. Do not use iced water, especially if your glass kettle is still warm.
5. Close the lid until it locks.
6.  Ensure the cable has been connected and the ON/OFF switch is at the OFF position.
7.  Press the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. The power indicator will then be illuminated.
8.  Water temperature will continue to rise until boiling occurs. The switch will then automatically go into the OFF position.
9.  When the water cools, if you need boiling water again, simply switch the kettle on.

HELPFUL HINTS:

• Always use fresh water in the kettle.
•  I f the kettle is accidentally switched on without a sufficient amount of water, a boil-dry safety mechanism will automatically switch the kettle off.
•  The lid should always be securely in place while heating water.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• The kettle should always be emptied before cleaning and storage.
• It is extremely important to remember that cleaning of the kettle can only be performed when the plug has been removed from the power supply.
•  Cleaning should be performed only when the kettle has cooled down.
•  Always ensure the electrical connections of the kettle remain absolutely dry.
•  Ensure the outside and the electrical connections of the kettle are completely dry before using.
•  Wipe the kettle and base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning products that can cause a health hazards or discoloration of the kettle.
•  Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring agents of any kind on the interior or exterior of the kettle.
•  Never immerse any part of the kettle, especially the cable and base plate, into water.

Maintenance: Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.

DECALCIFICATION
Decalcification refers to removing mineral deposits, which may form in the interior of the kettle and may result in discoloration. To get the best performance from your kettle, decalcify your unit from time to time. The frequency will depend on the hardness of your tap water and how often you use your kettle. We suggest using a kettle descaler in order to dissolve these deposits or scale. Follow the directions on the descaler package. If a commercial descaler is not available, fill the kettle with enough white vinegar to cover the bottom by about ½ inch (1.25 cm). Heat the vinegar to a boil. Repeat this with cooled vinegar until all deposits are removed. When the descaling process is complete, empty the kettle and rinse out several times with clean water.

You are a consumer if you own a Cuisinart® ViewProTM 1.7 L Cordless Electric Kettle that was purchased at retail for personal, family or household use. Except as otherwise required under applicable law, this warranty is not available to retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners. We warrant that your Cuisinart® ViewProTM 1.7 L Cordless Electric Kettle will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for 3 years from the date of original purchase.
We recommend that you visit our website, www.cuisinart.com for a fast, efficient way to complete your product registration. However, product registration does not eliminate the need for the consumer to maintain the original proof of purchase in order to obtain the warranty benefits. In the event that you do not have proof of purchase date, the purchase date for purposes of this warranty will be the date of manufacture.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY
California law provides that for In-Warranty Service, California residents have the option of returning a nonconforming product (A) to the store where it was purchased or (B) to another retail store that sells Cuisinart products of the same type. The retail store shall then, according to its preference, either repair the product, refer the consumer to an independent repair facility, replace the product, or refund the purchase price less the amount directly attributable to the consumer’s prior usage of the product. If neither of the above two options results in the appropriate relief to the consumer, the consumer may then take the product to an independent repair facility, if service or repair can be economically accomplished. Cuisinart and not the consumer will be responsible for the reasonable cost of such service, repair, replacement, or refund for nonconforming products under warranty. California residents may also, according to their preference, return nonconforming products directly

This warranty does not cover any damage caused by accident, misuse, shipment, or other than ordinary household use. This warranty excludes all incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of these damages, so these exclusions may not apply to you. You may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
