Installation (Mounting or Suspension)
Installation Guidelines
Bose AMM loudspeakers include threaded inserts to accommodate mounting or
suspension methods as described in this document.
Unsafe mounting or overhead suspension of any heavy load can result in serious
injury or death and property damage. It is the installer’s responsibility to
evaluate the reliability of any mounting method used for their application.
Only professional installers with the knowledge of proper hardware and safe
mounting techniques should attempt to install any loudspeaker or subwoofer
overhead.
Bose AMM loudspeakers are designed for use with Bose accessories for mounting
and suspension. If you are using a custom-designed mounting or suspension
system, have a licensed professional engineer review the design and planned
method of attachment to the building structure for structural integrity and
safety in the intended application.
Choose fasteners that are consistent with all local building codes and
requirements to support the weight of the loudspeaker.
- Use only fasteners/hardware of Class 8.8 or greater.
- Do not use unmarked machine fasteners for mounting system assemblies as there is no way to determine their physical properties.
- Use only M10 fasteners for the threaded inserts on the loudspeaker. Although SAE ⅜”–16 fasteners are similar, they are not interchangeable with M10 fasteners.
- Do not over-tighten fasteners. Doing so may irreparably damage the cabinet and create an unsafe assembly.
- Make sure fasteners are long enough to engage at least 8 threads of the attachment point. Using a fastener that is engaged with fewer than 8 threads will result in inadequate support of the loudspeaker, which may strip the threads and create an unsafe assembly.
- Do not alter or re-thread the threaded attachment points to accommodate any other thread size or type. Doing so will compromise the safety of the installation and permanently damage the loudspeaker.
- For a vibration-resistant assembly, use a locking compound intended for hand disassembly (such as Loctite® 242®).
Do not use the loudspeaker handles to suspend the loudspeaker.
Do not suspend additional loudspeakers or other items from the Bose AMM
loudspeaker.
Wall-, Ceiling-, or Truss-mounting
WARNING: To ensure safe product installation and usage, it is the installer’s responsibility to refer to the previous Installation Guidelines section and the user documentation of all mounting components before installing the product.
To mount the loudspeaker on a wall, ceiling, or truss, we recommend using the Bose accessories listed below when possible. To access documentation for each product, scan the QR code or visit the web page.
If you are using a custom-designed mounting or suspension system or hardware, a licensed professional engineer must review the design and fabrication. Obtain all mounting or suspension system components from reputable manufacturers.
Installation / Technical Information
Suspension
WARNING: To ensure safe product installation and usage, it is the installer’s responsibility to refer to the previous Installation Guidelines section and the user documentation of all mounting components before installing the product.
To suspend the loudspeaker from the ceiling, attach M10 threaded eye bolts to the two M10 threaded attachment points on the bottom panel of the loudspeaker. Use only load-rated eye bolts intended for lifting (per ASME B30.26).
For easier adjustment of the angle, use the AMM Suspension Bracket
(843344-0010). To access documentation for the AMM Suspension Bracket, scan
the QR code or visit
pro.Bose.com/ammsbracket.
If you are using a custom-designed mounting or suspension system or hardware,
a licensed professional engineer must review the design and fabrication.
Obtain all mounting or suspension system components from reputable
manufacturers.
