Dear Customer,
Please read these Operating Instructions carefully before connecting your appliance to the mains, in order to avoid damage due to incorrect use. Please pay particular attention to the safety information. If you pass the appliance on to a third party, these Operating Instructions must also be handed over.

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Before connecting the plug to the socket, please check whether the type of current and mains voltage agree with the specifications in these Operating Instructions.
  • Remove the mains plug from the socket when the appliance is not in use and before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse the appliance or mains plug in water or other liquids. There is a danger to life from electric shock!
  • Incorrect operation and improper handling can lead to faults in the appliance and injuries to the user.
  • Do not operate the appliance if the mains cable or the mains plug show signs of damage, if the appliance has fallen on the floor, or if it has been otherwise damaged. In such cases take the appliance to a specialist for checking and repair, if necessary.
  • Ensure that the mains cable does not hang over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and open flames.
  • Put the appliance on a stable, level and heat-proof surface and not in the vicinity of hot objects or open flames (e.g. hotplates).
  • This appliance is not suitable for commercial use or for use in the open air.
  • You should never leave the appliance unattended during use.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.
  • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Caution! Parts of the device get very hot during use. Do not touch the appliance with your bare hands. Risk of burning!

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging material.
  • Clean the heating surfaces with a soft damp cloth and then dry them.
  • Uncoil the mains cable completely.
  • On initial use, the appliance may give off a slight odour. This is normal and will not last for long.

CAUTION:

  1. Due to differences in batter type, e.g. thickness, the cooking time is about 5-8 minutes.
  2. The first heating process should take place without any batter. Allow the appliance to heat up for about ten minutes. A small amount of smoke or slight odour may be emitted. This is normal and harmless.
  3. During the operating process, the red light will be always on.
  4. Never use a sharp fork or knife to remove the waffle as this would damage the non-stick coating of the cooking surface. Use heat-resistant wood or plastic utensils only.
  5. Always unplug the appliance from the power socket when not in use.

INITIAL USE

Before you use the appliance for the first time, the appliance may give off a little smoke and a slight odour. That is normal and harmless and is not a cause for worry!

  • Uncoil the cable completely
  • Check if the heating plates are clean and dust-free. If necessary, wipe them with a damp cloth. ·
  • Place the appliance on a flat, level surface
  • Plug the appliance into a correctly rated socket. The cooking surface begins preheating and the red and green light will both be lit. Once the cooking surface has reached the preset temperature (usually it will take about 5-8 minutes), the green light will not be lit and you can start cooking.
  • Lightly grease the heating surfaces.
  • As soon as the required temperature is reached, the control light goes out and you can begin waffle making.
  • Open the waffle machine at its handle.
  • Pour the prepared batter onto the lower heating surface and distribute it evenly. Please ensure that the batter does not flow over the edge of the heating surface.
  • Hold the upper heating surface at the handle and close the waffle machine. The green light will light up again.
  • Bake the waffle for approx. 4-8 minutes, depending upon the degree of browning required.
  • Open the waffle machine as described above and remove the waffle with a plastic spatula. Do not use any metal objects (e. g. knife, fork, etc.) as they will scratch the coating of the heating surface.
  • If you wish to bake further waffles, pour in more batter immediately.
  • When you have finished baking, unplug the appliance, open the upper lid and allow the appliance to cool.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • First of all, unplug the appliance!
  • Do not commence cleaning until the appliance has cooled down completely.
  • Clean the outside surface and the heating surfaces with a brush or with a soft damp cloth.
  • Never use abrasive cleaning agents or sharp objects (e. g. scrubbing brush, or knife) for cleaning.
  • Caution: Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. There is a danger to life from electric shock!
