[UN2T] – Use the scale in a more stable position

The next step is to achieve both evenly distributed and firmly tamped coffee in your filter basket – the Tamp does both tasks easily and consistently in an ergonomic way.

    [ADJUST]:
    a. Adjust the leveller to the depth that you require.
    b. Twist the two black rings in an anti-clockwise direction to unlock the Tamp for adjustment (Fig. 1.0).
    c. Once the Tamp is unlocked, you can adjust both sides, leveler & tamper to your desired height.
    d. Twist the leveler/tamper anti-clockwise to increase the height, and clockwise to decrease the height (Fig. 1.1).
    e. Upon adjustment to the desired height, twist the two black rings in a clockwise direction to lock back the Tamp.

[APPLY]:
a. After the coffee is a grind to your portafilter, start by placing the leveler (Fig 2.0) facing down towards the portafilter.
b. Do not apply strength. Instead let the Tamp’s weight sits in by itself. Slowly twist the Tamp clockwise to allow it to start leveling and distribute the coffee evenly in the
portafilter.
c. Remove the leveller from the portafilter. If the coffee bed sits level & even on the portafilter, proceed to start tamping. If not, further increase the height of the leveller.
d. Flip the Tamp to the tamper side and place the tamper (Fig 2.0) facing down towards the portafilter.
e. Use both hands and compress the Tamp to the portafilter. Compress the coffee bed until the ring ledge (Fig 2.1) touches your portafilter.
f. The height of your tamper plays a very important role here. Do make further adjustments to your tamper’s height until you achieve the right amount of tamping with the ring ledge touching the portafilter every time.
