LIBRARY 8mm-Super-8 Digitization
Instruction Manual

The Wolverine Film2digital MovieMaker digitizes 8mm and Super8 film reels up to 5” by taking photographs of individual film cells. Because each photograph is individual, the process takes 5-6 times longer than the duration of your film (i.e. a 3-minute 8mm/Super8 reel will take approximately 15-20 minutes to digitize), so plan accordingly.

If you are converting many reels of film, you might consider purchasing an SD card of your own, not to exceed 32G. This way you won’t have to move your files from our SD  card onto another storage device. Or, you can transfer the files from the Wolverine to a computer via the USB cable.

  1. Set up and plug in the Wolverine Film2digital MovieMaker by connecting the power adapter to the circled input.

  3. Open the film door by pushing the tab to the left, as indicated by the arrow.

  4. Mount the film reel to the left shaft. If your film reel has a small hole, mount it directly on the shaft. If it has a larger hole, use the red (left) adapter.

  5. Mount the included 5” reel to the right shaft.

  6. Follow the film routing diagram printed on the front of the Wolverine. To record, follow the solid line (—). To rewind, follow the dotted line (- – – -). Place the sprocket holes for your film under the white tabs. It’s easier to do the center tab first than the other two. Close the film door after the film is placed under the tabs. Select the film type with the switch on the front of the Wolverine.

  7. Use the up and down arrows to highlight menu selections. To begin, press “Menu,” then navigate using the up or down arrows. This allows you to determine the function  (record, playback, rewind), choose exposure and sharpness levels, connect to a computer USB port (1) or SD card (2), adjust how the image is framed, and return to default settings. You can also connect the Wolverine directly to your television’s picture input using the “TV OUT” port and included cable (3).

  8. Once your film is mounted and routed correctly, press “Enter” to start and stop the film movement. When you’ve recorded your film, press “Enter” again to stop the film. The Wolverine creates a new numbered file each time you press “Enter” to restart the film.

Make sure the SD card is left in the machine and don’t forget to pack the adapters and cords in the case before you return the machine.
