Instructions
- The following are instructions for using your COVID-19 home saliva sample test kit. Using this kit is easy, but instructions must be carefully followed to ensure a successful test.
- You should not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum for 30 minutes prior to giving your saliva sample. First, open the sealed container and remove the tube and attached funnel. When depositing saliva, do not expectorate forcefully. Instead, allow saliva to accumulate in your mouth and gently deposit into the tube. Fill the tube with saliva right up to the black wavy line. Be careful not to fill above or below the line.
- Next, remove the funnel from the tube and replace with the fluid cap included in the container. Screw the cap until the blue solution is released into the tube. Firmly tighten the cap to ensure that the cap and the tube are completely sealed. If the blue solution has not been released from the cap into the tube, then you have not tightened the top enough.
- Shake the tube for at least five seconds so that the saliva and the solution are thoroughly mixed. Write in the date and time of collection on the form included with your kit. Then write in the date and time of collection on the label.
- Peel off the label and wrap it around the tube, aligning with the barcode that is already on the tube. Wrap the tube in the provided tissue paper. Place it into the clear biohazard bag and seal it.
- Place the bag and form back into the box. Make sure you copy down the shipping instructions before you put your completed form back into the box.
- Seal the box with tape. Slide the box into the prepaid shipping bag addressed to our lab. Ship this package back to our lab.
- Follow the written shipping instructions provided to ship the kit the same day as your sample collection. Based on your selected method of communication in KP.org, you will receive a link to track your package directly via UPS.
