Safety regulations

  • The following safety regulations are highly important and must be observed and followed.

Notes on handling firearms

Knowing the dangers associated with the use of firearms and following the safety precautions described here will ensure complete safety when using your firearm.
Failure to observe even one of these rules may result in serious injury, not only to yourself but also to other persons, or cause serious damage to the firearm or major property damage.

Firearms Safety Commandments

  1. Weapons are always to be treated as if they were loaded.
  2. Always make sure that the barrel is not clogged.
  3. Before firing, always make sure there is a backstop, what is behind it and that ther is no danger to the safety of others.
  4. Always use clean, dry and factory-made original ammunition of the correct type and calibre for your firearm.
  5. Protect your eyes and ears (see below).
  6. Always carry the firearm in such a way as to determine muzzle direction in case you fall or trip.
  7. Always ensure that the safety is on until you intend to shoot.
  8. Make sure that a loaded weapon is never left unattended. Weapons and ammunition should be stored separately, under lock and key, so that children and unauthorized persons do not have access.
  9. Never allow unauthorized persons or persons who have not read these safety instructions to use your firearm.
  10. Never point a loaded or unloaded firearm at objects you do not intend to shoot at.

Protect your eyes and ears

Always wear appropriate shooting glasses and earplugs or earmuffs when shooting. Also always make sure that people near you are similarly protected. Unprotected eyes can be injured by powder gas, powder fumes, lubricants, metal particles or similar which are occasionally ejected by firearms during normal use. Without ear protection, persons who are frequently exposed to shooting noise may experience gradual and permanent loss of hearing.

Instructions for handling ammunition

  1. Only use high-quality, factory-manufactured original ammunition. Do not use cartridges that are dirty, wet, rusted, bent or damaged.
  2. Only use ammunition of the calibre intended for your weapon. The correct calibre is engraved on the barrel of your weapon.
  3. The use of reloaded, “converted”, self-loaded or other non-standard ammunition will void all warranties.
  4. Excessive pressures, which may occur within the barrel during firing, may cause serious damage to the firearm and serious injury to the shooter or other persons. Excessive pressure can be caused by blockages in the barrel, overloaded propellant charge or use of incorrect cartridges or incorrectly assembled cartridges, etc. In addition, if dirty, rusty or damaged cartridges are used, the cartridge case may burst and the weapon may be damaged.
  5. Shooting must be stopped immediately if:
  • the difficulty is encountered in inserting a cartridge or you experience unusual resistance in doing so,
  • a cartridge fails (the bullet does not leave the barrel),
  • the extractor/ejector fails to extract or eject a fired cartridge case.
  • unburnt grains of the propellant are found scattered inside the gun, or a shot sounds weak or abnormal. In such cases, there is a possibility that a bullet has become lodged somewhere in the barrel.
  • Firing another bullet down the jammed barrel may destroy the weapon and cause serious injury to the shooter or bystanders.
  1. If a firing failure occurs, wait 60 seconds before opening the bolt, keeping the muzzle of the weapon pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Dirt, rust or other foreign bodies on cartridges may prevent or interfere with their proper insertion into the chamber and cause the cartridge case to burst during firing. The same applies to damaged or dented cartridges.
  3. The cartridges must not be oiled. Before shooting, be sure to clean any oil or preservative from the barrel’s chamber.
  4. Lubricants are to be used sparingly on the moving parts of your weapon. Avoid excessive spraying of aerosol weapon care products, especially where they may come into contact with ammunition.

Bolt assembly (figure 3.1)

ATTENTION

  • BEFORE INSERTING THE BOLT, MAKE SURE THAT THE CHAMBER LOCK IS ENGAGED (figure 3.1)

DANGER

  • MAKE SURE THERE IS NO CARTRIDGE IN THE BARREL

Insert the bolt (figure 3.1a) from behind into the case until you feel a first stop.HAENEL-p2011537-JAEGE-NXT-straight-pull-repeater-

Combined reloading and cocking function

The bolt handle (1) of your gun can assume three positions (0,1 and 2). In position (figure 3.2a) the bolt is unlocked, the firing spring is decocked and the bolt can be opened/closed. In position 1 (figure 3.2b) the lock is partially locked, the firing spring is decocked and the bolt catch is activated (white marking visible on the lock). In position 2 (figure 3.2c) the bolt is locked, the hammer spring cocked and the gun is ready to fire (red marking visible on the bolt).HAENEL-p2011537-JAEGE-NXT-straight-pull-
repeater-FIG-6

Bolt disassembly

Your gun has an automatic bolt lock (bolt handle in position 1). By pushing the safety (2) to the left (figure 3.3a) and at the same time the bolt handle to position 0, the bolt can be moved in the direction of the end of the stock until it reaches the fixed stop. Then press the push button (3) (figure 3.3b) and simultaneously turn the bolt counterclockwise by approx. 60° while pulling lightly in the direction of the end of the stock. You can then remove the bolt from the system.HAENEL-p2011537-JAEGE-NXT-straight-pull-repeater-
FIG-7

  • The bolt lock is automatically deactivated when the trigger is pulled (releasing the firing pin).

Loading the weapon

  • Mount the bolt in the gun (see 3.1) and open it to the rear stop. Load a cartridge into the chamber by hand.

ATTENTION

  • MAKE SURE THAT THE CARTRIDGE CALIBRE MATCHES THE CALIBRE DESIGNATION ON THE BARREL.

DANGER

MAKE SURE THE MUZZLE IS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION. NEVER ATTEMPT TO LOAD OR UNLOAD A FIREARM INSIDE A VEHICLE, BUILDING, OFFICE OR OTHER CONFINED SPACE (OTHER THAN A PROPERLY CONSTRUCTED SHOOTING RANGE). CLOSED ROOMS HARDLY OFFER A SAFE DIRECTION IWHICH TO AIM THE GUN, AND THERE IS ALWAYS A GREAT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY IF A SHOT IS ACCIDENTALLY FIRED. MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO FOREIGN BODIES INSIDE THE BARREL BEFORE FIRING.

DANGER

  • DO NOT MOVE THE BOLT HANDLE BEYOND POSITION 1. THERE IS A RISK OF UNINTENTIONAL FIRING!

Load/unload the magazine

Place the cartridges in the magazine from above and press them down until they engage under the respective magazine lip. Make sure that the bullet tip faces the front of the magazine and the cartridges are against the rear of the magazine. To empty the magazine, the cartridges simply have to pushed out of the magazine. The calibres that can be used in the respective magazine are listed on the side of the magazine.

  • The capacity for standard calibres is 5 rounds, for magnum calibres 4 rounds.
  • Push the magazine into the magazine slot from below until the magazine catch audibly clicks into place.
  • Your gun is now loaded with a cartridge capacity of 6 rounds of standard ammunition (5 rounds of magnum ammunition) and secured (hammer spring decocked, bolt handle in position 1).

Additional securing options

By moving the magazine catch 4 (figure 4.2b) sideways the magazine is secured against unintentional release.

  • To remove the magazine, the magazine holder 4 must be moved back to its central position figure 4.2a!
  • If the bolt handle is in position 1, a bolt handle lock can be activated by pushing the safety to the right (figure 4.2c), which prevents unintentional cocking of the gun.HAENEL-p2011537-JAEGE-NXT-straight-pull-repeater-FIG-8

ATTENTION

  • BEFORE COCKING THE GUN, DEACTIVATE THE BOLT HANDLE LOCK BY OPERATING THE SAFETY SLIDE ON THE LEFT SIDE.

Firing

  • Change the loaded weapon from position 1 to position 2 by pushing the bolt handle in muzzle direction.HAENEL-p2011537-JAEGE-NXT-straight-pull-repeater-FIG-9

DANGER

  • COCK THE GUN ONLY IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FIRING! AFTER YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED THE TARGET, MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW THE SURROUNDINGS AND THE BACKGROUND EXACTLY AND CAN THUS EXCLUDE ANY DANGER.

Now you can aim at the target and shoot. For reloading (repeating), move the bolt quickly from position 2 to position 0 and move the bolt to the end stop in the direction of the stock. Then move the bolt quickly in the direction of the muzzle (return the bolt to position 2). This feeds a new cartridge into the chamber, cocks the firing spring and you can fire again.

DANGER

  • IF FIRING IS FINISHED AND THERE IS STILL A LOADED CARTRIDGE IN THE CHAMBER, IMMEDIATELY MOVE THE BOLT HANDLE FROM POSITION 2 TO POSITION 1. THIS SECURES THE WEAPON AND DECOCKS THE RECOIL SPRING.

Unloading the weapon

DANGER

  • MAKE SURE THAT THE BOLT HANDLE IS IN POSITION 1 (WEAPON LOCKED AND DECOCKED).

Always start unloading the weapon by removing the magazine. Then, by pressing the safety to the left (figure 3.3a) and simultaneously pulling the bolt handle back to position 0, move the bolt in the direction of the end of the stock to the fixed stop.

  • Prevent uncontrolled ejection of the unfired cartridge by suitably covering the ejection window.

Safety

Your rifle is equipped with a patented hand-cocking system that guarantees the greatest possible safety when handling the weapon. The gun is locked, cocked and reloaded by means of a control element. Incorrect operation of the weapon is thus largely ruled out. The manual cocking mechanism is nevertheless NOT a substitute for careful handling of the weapon.

DANGER

WHEN STALKING, ALWAYS CARRY THE RIFLE IN THE DECOCKED POSITION (BOLT HANDLE IN POSITION 1). IN ADDITION, USE THE BOLT LOCK (FIGURE 4.2C) TO PREVENT THE UNINTENTIONAL COCKING OF THE GUN. ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN DECOCKED UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO FIRE AND THE GUN IS POINTED AT THE TARGET.

Like all other mechanical devices, a safety mechanism can break or fail and be adversely affected by wear and tear, abuse, dirt, rust, incorrect assembly, improper adjustment and repair or by a lack of care. The best safeguard is your own mind. PUT IT TO USE!

Disassemble and assemble the bolt

  • To avoid malfunctions of the bolt due to incorrect assembly, we recommend repair by an authorised dealer or directly at the factory.

Shooting performance

Our barrels are manufactured in our own workshop according to the most modern production methods using high-strength barrel steels. However, the shooting performance of a rifle depends on many other influencing factors. The most important factor is the ammunition used.

When checking the firing performance of your rifle, always use the type of bullet ammunition specified in the rifle pass. If this type of ammunition is not in stock, considerable differences in performance may be possible. Even ammunition of the same make and batch can have different firing performance and point of impact from manufacture to manufacture and from weapon to weapon.

Another important factor that has a strong influence on the shooting performance is the optics with which you equip your weapon. For this reason, place the same quality demands on the scope and the scope mount used as you do on the weapon itself.

  • If sight is retrofitted (not by the manufacturer), the weapon must be re-zeroed.

Only with optimally selected ammunition, optics and use of the appropriate mount do we guarantee the excellent shooting performance of our weapons. Complaints about the shooting performance must be made in writing within 1 month after purchase of the weapon. Should the complaint prove to be unjustified, we reserve the right to charge the costs incurred.

  • For some types of weapons, a special shooting and cooling rhythm must be observed, this can be requested from our customer service.

Care and cleaning

CAUTION

  • DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE WEAPON BEYOND WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

DANGER

  • THE GUN MUST BE DECOCKED AND UNLOADED BEFORE DISASSEMBLY.

ATTENTION

INCORRECT CLEANING AGENTS CAN DAMAGE THE WEAPON. THEREFORE ONLY USE PRESERVATIVES AND CLEANING AGENTS WHICH ARE SUITABLE FOR WEAPONS. YOU CAN OBTAIN THESE FROM YOUR SPECIALIST DEALER. DO NOT USE ANY METAL OBJECTS OR PLASTICS (NYLON, PERLON, ETC.) FOR CLEANING THE GUN.

All firearms require regular care, cleaning and inspection which may result in the need for readjustment or repair. Have your gun checked regularly by an authorised dealer orat our factory even if it appears to be in good order, because breakage, poor function, excessive wear or corrosion of some parts may not be apparent from an external inspection. If you find ANY mechanical fault, do not continue to use the gun. UNLOAD the weapon and take it immediately to an authorised dealer or send it to our factory.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING THE GUN, THE BARRELS MUST BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED TO IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ALL POWDER COMBUSTION RESIDUES. THEN APPLY A LIGHT FILM OF OIL TO THE INSIDE OF THE BARREL. ALL EXTERNAL STEEL PARTS MUST BE DRIED AND ALSO LIGHTLY OILED. SPECIAL ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO ALL MOVING PARTS.

Storage

DANGER

  • THE APPLICABLE LAWS ON THE STORAGE OF WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION MUST BE COMPLIED WITH.

Warranty

C.G.HAENEL GmbH meets the highest quality standards. For this reason, we extend the warranty period to a total of 5 years from the date of purchase of the weapon, including the statutory warranty period for the first purchaser of the weapon. For the period after the expiry of the statutory warranty, we will assume the warranty for all metal and plastic parts of the weapon which show defects as a result of material orm processing faults. This warranty service will be fulfilled exclusively within the framework of the statutory rectification of defects. Prerequisite for the recognition of warranty claims is:

  • the assertion of the defect within one month of its discovery.
  • the presentation of the HAENEL guarantee card to the manufacturer within 14 days of purchase.
  • professional assessment and decision by the manufacturer.

We reserve the right to charge the costs incurred for unjustified complaints.
