mountaineering are dangerous. Understand and accept the risks involved before
participating. You are responsible for your own actions and decisions. Do not
use this helmet for any motorized sport, bicycling, or any activity for which
it was not designed. Supervise all use of helmets by children to protect them
from strangulation. Some head injuries cannot be prevented by any helmet. Even
very low-force accidents can result in serious injury or death. No helmet can
protect against all foreseeable impacts; however, the wearing of a certified
helmet can reduce the risk of serious injury or death in some impact
situations. Before using this product, read and understand all instructions
and warnings that accompany it and familiarize yourself with its proper use,
capabilities, and limitations. Do not modify this product in any way. Failure
to read and follow these warnings can result in severe injury or death!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Your Black Diamond helmet is designed to protect your head from falling
objects and from impacts with stationary objects during a fall. Wear your
helmet whenever you are climbing and when rock falls or icefalls from above
are a possibility.
NOTE: The Vapor is a highly vented, lightweight helmet. It is not
recommended for situations that have significant rock fall potential. Extra
care is needed during transport.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
(See accompanying illustrations)
INSPECTION, RETIREMENT, AND LIFESPAN
When to retire your equipment:
-
Climbing gear does not last forever. Inspect your gear before and after each use, and retire it when it fails inspection or when it reaches its maximum lifespan
– 10 years after the date of manufacture, even if unused and properly stored. Refer to the Markings section of these instructions in order to determine the date of manufacture of this equipment. -
Damage and extreme conditions may shorten your equipment’s useful life, and could conceivably require retiring the gear during its first use. Inspect your gear immediately whenever you suspect damage during use.
-
See the accompanying inspection illustrations. Retire immediately if any of the illustrated conditions are found.
-
If you have any doubts about the dependability of your gear, retire it.
-
Destroy retired gear to prevent future use.
-
Additional factors that may reduce the useful life of climbing gear:
Impact – both severe and mild, exposure to heat, sunlight, corrosives, solvents, fuels, battery acid or battery fumes. -
In the event that your helmet needs to be disinfected, we recommend that you retire it rather than expose it to harsh chemicals.
-
Long shelf life will reduce the possible useful life of the equipment.
