IMI OAT GUIDE 2022
A dynasty first, single gene IMI oaten hay!
IMI OATEN HAY
A SKILLED MARKSMAN TARGETING MORE WEED IN HAY CROPS!
Kibale Oat IMI Tolerant Oat Variety
INTRODUCING THE IMI OAT DYNASTY KINGBALEφ and ARCHER φ are the world’s only
IMI tolerant oaten hay varieties! KINGBALEφ and ARCHER φ are single gene IMI
tolerant varieties and have improved tolerance to soil residual imidazolinone
herbicides and are ideal for use where there are IMI residue concerns from
previous crops.
Sentry® is currently registered for replanting incorporation by seeding (IBS)
for hay, forage, seed and grain (domestic feed market only) production. Excess
grain, seed and screenings produced from single gene IMI Oaten hay varieties,
KING BALE φ and ARCHERφ can be used for the domestic oaten grain feed markets
and/or consumed on-farm. Grains of these varieties cannot be delivered into
bulk handling systems.
It should be noted that applications of imidazolinone herbicides other than
Sentry® used in a pre-sowing application are not registered, and are likely to
cause significant crop damage and may also lead to imidazolinone residues in
hay and grain.
ALTERNATIVE TO: CARROLUP WINJARDIE KOORABUV WINTAROO
KING BALE is a mid-slow maturing oaten hay variety suitable for planting in
the major hay-growing regions of Australia.
Preliminary data shows KING BALE has a similar disease and agronomic profile
to WINTAROO which includes good early vigour and hay colour retention, a tall
plant type and CCN resistance. Red leather leaf and stem rust will require
proactive management.
ALTERNATIVE TO:
YALLARkb , **MULGARA BRUSHER CARROLUP**
ARCHER is a mid-maturing oaten hay variety suitable for planting in the major
hay-growing regions of Australia.
ARCHER has a medium height variety, with good early vigour and hay colour
retention. Preliminary data indicates moderately resistant to stem rust and
moderately resistant to leaf rust in Western Australia and CCN in ARCHER may
require proactive rotational management.
The original breeding work was undertaken by Grains Innovation Australia (GIA)
and the varieties are being commercialised by InterGrain.
KING BALEand ARCHER seed is available for planting in 2023. Seed can be
purchased through your local reseller or Seedclub Member.
