Use

Information for use
The course of compression therapy (for example, the timing, compression class, and duration of use) is determined by the attending doctor.

  • As the edema decreases, the size of the residual limb sock has to be adjusted to ensure continuous compression
  • Regular examination by a doctor is essential to ensure treatment success.

Donning and doffing the residual limb sock

Donning

  • Prerequisite: The residual limb sock is dry.
  • Prerequisite: Remove all sharp objects from the hands and wrists (such as rings, bracelets or watches).
  1. Recommendation: Put on thin gloves to prevent damage due to rough or sharp fingernails.
  2. Turn the residual limb sock inside out, almost to the end.
  3. Slowly slip the sock over the residual limb without twisting it.
  4. Use a massaging motion to evenly distribute the tension of the material. This optimizes the effect.
  5. If the sock has a fastening strap: Fasten the strap around the hips and make sure it is not too tight.

Doffing
Prerequisite: Remove all sharp objects from the hands and wrists (such as rings, bracelets, or watches).

  2. Recommendation: Clean the residual limb sock.
