Preparing for Use

Attaching to the Power Unit
The ARTIO WB227 Wheel Barrow will need to be attached to the power unit. This is achieved as follows. BCS 738 – BCS 740 – BCS 618 – BCS 630 – BCS 630WS To attach the Wheel Barrow directly to the power unit, couple the implement to the machine PTO and make sure the nuts are tightened securely. If the Implement Quick Coupling Assembly is being used then simply move the locking pin lever to raise the pin, then slide the male (blank) coupler (fitted to the Wheel Barrow) into the female coupler (fitted to the power unit) until the slotted hole lines up with the locking pin. Once the couplers are lined up in the correct position, release the locking lever to secure the two couplers together (Figs. 5 & 6).

BCS 750 – BCS 660HY
The Wheel Barrow is mounted directly to the machine coupler (Fig 7,A) by attaching the coupler (Fig 8,C) that is fixed to the implement. To fit and remove the Wheel Barrow simply rotate the knob (Fig 3,R). The device is locked by turning the knob clockwise and unlocked by turning the knob anticlockwise. It is important that nuts (Fig 8,D) are well tightened.

Operating the Wheel Barrow
IMPORTANT: Always read all separate instruction manuals supplied with the power unit before use, to ensure you are familiar with the machine’s controls.

Transporting

When transporting the Wheel Barrow attached to power unit be careful not to strike objects, people, animals, walls, gates etc during transportation as injury or damage could result. Never transport the Wheel Barrow without the body being in its locked, down position. To transport the Wheel Barrow in a vehicle or trailer, ensure the Wheel Barrow is placed on a firm flat surface and is suitably secured using ratchet straps or equivalent securing devices. If the Wheel Barrow is not suitably restrained it could cause damage or injury.

Working the WB227 Wheel Barrow
Ensure the working area is clear of people. Ensure that during the operation of the Wheel Barrow people and animals cannot enter the working area. Before moving off ensure the body is locked in its down position (Fig. 9). Follow the instructions for your two-wheel tractor to engage the wheel drive and do not engage the PTO. Always select a wheel speed that allows full control of the two wheeled tractor and the Wheel Barrow. If the Wheel Barrow is used on uneven surfaces care must be taken as the Wheel Barrow could cause the two wheeled tractor to tip over. Heavy loads must always be evenly distributed or secured in the Wheel Barrow. If a heavy load is not evenly distributed or secured then it could result in instability.

Stopping the WB227 Wheel Barrow
The WB227 Wheel Barrow is controlled via your two-wheel tractor power unit. To stop the machine, follow the standard operating procedures to stop the wheel drive and power take off drive as instructed in your two-wheel tractor manual.

Tipping the Wheel Barrow

  • Stop the two wheeled tractor on a firm flat surface, switch the engine off and apply the brake.
  • If your two wheeled tractor does not have a brake select 1st gear and ensure the engine is switched off.
  • Pull the release latch located on the cross section fully towards the machine (Fig. 10), now twist the release latch 90 degrees clockwise or anticlockwise to lock it into its retracted position (Figs. 11 & 12).
  • Taking care now manually tip the Wheel Barrow body forwards.
  • Reverse this procedure to place the Wheel Barrow body back into its locked, down position (Fig. 13).

Maintenance

Regular Maintenance Checks
Always clean the Wheel Barrow after use. Remove any wire, string, plastic netting etc from the wheels. Check the Wheel Barrow for damage after every use to prevent component failure or personal injury. Check tightness security of nut and bolts periodically. Check the condition and pressure of the tyres before use.

Storage
Always store Wheel Barrow in a clean, dry place. Always clean the machine and dry thoroughly prior to storage and ensure all lubrication points have been re-greased.
