Function

The control arm serves as the guiding and force transmitting component of the automotive suspension system, transmitting various forces acting on the wheels to the vehicle body while ensuring that the wheels move along a certain trajectory.

Before Installation

  • Pls check your Vehicle Type, Drive Type,Model and Year of Manufacture by fitment before installation.
  • Pls check the quantity of components before installation.
  • Pls prepare the necessary tools and equipment:
  • Jack and jack stands,
  • Torque wrench,
  • Hammer or mallet,
  • Socket set,
  • Lug wrench,
  • Thread locker,
  • Penetrating oil or lubricant,
  • Pry bar or ball joint separator.

Tips for smoother installation

  • Before removing the old control arms, mark their location or take a clear photo for reference. This will help you ensure proper alignment when installing the new control arms.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten all bolts and nuts to the manufacturer’s specified torque values.
  • Do not damage the transmission shaft dust boot during the installation.

Installation Instruction

Remove old Control Arm

  • Step 1: Park your vehicle in a secure flat ground and engage the parking brake,lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands. This will prevent the vehicle from shifting or falling while working.
  • Step 2: Spray the bolt, nut attached to the control arm and ball joints with penetrating oil.It can not only clean rust or corrosion around the control arm’s mounting bolts, ball joints, or bushings but also make it easier to come off.
  • Step 3: Detach clip that fixes the brake lines avoid damaging it.
  • Step 4: Use a ball joint separator or a pry bar and hammer to take out the bolt that connects the ball head of the control arm to the steering knuckle,taking the ball joint out.
    • ( Note: Do remember the installation position or how the stock camber washer was installed in your model.)
  • Step 5: Use an appropriate socket or wrench to take out the mounting bolts,nuts and washer that secure the control arm to the wheel hub and the chassis.
  • Step 6: Take out the old control arm. Matching the old control arm with the new one to make sure the same size.

Install the new Control Arm

  • Step 1: Clean the location for installing new parts.
  • Step 2: Place the new control arm in the correct position,align the installation holes,and put the camber bolts,camber washers,nuts in place.
  • Step 3: Hand-tighten nuts to ensure it is aligned properly,,then use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to manufacturer’s recommended torque specifications.
  • Step 4: Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle and secure it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Step 5: Reinstall any additional components that were removed earlier, such as brake lines or sway bar links.Everything should be set in place.

After Installation

  • After installing the new control arm, it is recommended that a professional perform an alignment check. Replacing the control arms may affect the geometry of the suspension and can lead to tire wear if not properly aligned.
  • Test drive the vehicle on a safe road to check for any unusual noises or handling problems. This will help you identify any potential problems and ensure that the control arm installation is successful.
