Start up
Attention!
Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!
Attention! The engine does not come with oil in it. Therefore, ensure
that you add oil before starting it up. Use standard multigrade oil (SAE
10W-30 / 10W-40) for this. The oil level in the engine must be checked each
time before mowing. You will also need to fill in petrol, as this is also not
supplied upon delivery.
Starting the product (Fig. 1)
-
Set the throttle (7) to the “CHOKE” position. Note: The choke is not normally required when restarting a warm engine.
-
Carefully pull the pull-starter until you feel resistance, then pull quickly and firmly. Do not allow the start pull cord to whip back after starting has been completed.
Attention: Do not lift the device when attempting to start it! -
Allow the engine to warm up briefly and then move the choke lever to the centre position.
Attention: The engine speed can be adjusted while driving. Push the throttle (7) forwards or backwards to adjust the engine speed. It is recommended to leave the throttle in the centre position to reduce vibrations.
Note: Due to the design of the single-sided moving blades, the vibrations are very high. This is normal.
Mow (Fig. 1)
- Operate the wheel clutch lever (1) to set the wheels in motion.
- Operate the mowing unit clutch lever (5) to start the mower.
Releasing the respective clutch lever interrupts the movement of the wheels or the mowing unit.
Switching off the product (Fig. 1)
Set the throttle (7) to the “STOP” position.
Adjusting the handlebar (Fig. 12)
You can use the handlebar adjustment (3) to set the handlebar (2) to a
comfortable height for you.

- Allow the engine to cool down before transporting or loading to avoid burns and to prevent fire hazards.
- When transporting over longer distances, drain the fuel tank completely.
- Secure the product on the transport vehicle against rolling, slipping or tipping over and also lash down the dumper.
Storage
Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature lies between 5 and 30 ˚C. Store the product in its original packaging. Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating manual with the product.
Maintenance
Attention!
Always shut the engine down and remove the spark plug connector before
carrying out any maintenance work.
If the clutch levers do not work properly, proceed as follows:
-
Adjusting the mowing unit clutch lever (Fig. 8+9)
Turn the adjusting screw (b or c) of the Bowden cable in the “R” or “L” direction to increase or decrease the distance. -
Adjusting the wheel clutch lever (Fig. 10+11)
Turn the adjusting screw (d or e) of the Bowden cable in the direction of “R” or “L” to increase or decrease the distance. -
Cleaning the air filter (Fig. 14)
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspection is therefore essential. The air filter should be checked every 50 operating hours and cleaned as required.
The air filter must be checked more often in case of very dusty air.- Loosen air filter cover “i”.
- Only clean the paper filter with compressed air or by tapping it out; replace the filter if it is very dirty.
- Wash out the foam filter with soap and water and allow to dry, then moisten with a few drops of SEA- 30 oil. Carefully press the excess oil out of the foam filter.
- The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
Attention: Never clean the air filter with petrol or flammable solvents.
-
Spark plug maintenance / changing the spark plug (Fig. 15)
Check the spark plug for contamination for the first time after 10 operating hours and clean it with a copper wire brush if necessary. Then service the spark plug every 50 operating hours.- Remove the spark plug connector with a twist.
- Remove the spark plug (j) with a spark plug wrench.
- The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
-
Changing oil (Fig. 16 + 17)
NOTE!
Environmental damage!
Spilled oil can pollute the environment permanently.- The liquid is highly toxic and can quickly lead to water pollution.
- Fill/empty oil only on level, paved surfaces.
- Use a filling nozzle or funnel.
- Collect drained oil in a suitable container.
- Wipe up spilled oil carefully immediately and dispose of the cloth according to local regulations.
- Dispose of oil as per local regulations.
- Change the oil at the end of every season. The engine oil change should be carried out while the motor is at operating temperature and switched off.
- Use only engine oil (SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40).
- Place the sickle bar mower on a level, even surface.
- Place a suitable collection container under the oil drain screw (l).
- Use an open-end spanner to open the oil drain screw (l) and drain the engine oil.
- After you have drained the engine oil completely, tighten the oil drain screw (k) again.
- Now unscrew the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (k) anti-clockwise.
- Fill up with fresh engine oil and check the oil level.
- Then screw the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (k) back in clockwise.
-
Maintenance of the mower unit for cutter bar mower
- Check the mower unit for cutter bar mower (10) for damage, loose screws, broken/damaged blades and rust before starting work each time.
