OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The deep fryer should be unplugged, and the frying baskets set aside before fi lling the tank with oil.

  2. Use only food grade, good quality frying oil such as peanut, vegetable, pure corn, canola, sunfl ower, or light olive oil when frying.

  3. Prior to fi lling the tank with oil, set both the Temperature and Timer Controls to OFF.

  4. With the deep fryer unplugged, fi ll the tank with oil so that the level falls within the MIN (3.1L) and MAX (4L) markings.

  5. Do not operate the unit if the oil level is below MIN or above MAX, doing so may result in injury to the user or damage to the fryer.

  6. Wipe the inside of the viewing window with a little oil to prevent condensation.

  7. Attach the power cord to the deep fryer fi rst. Make sure the power cord is plugged in with “THIS SIDE UP” facing up and make sure the magnet plug is making a good connection. Next, plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
WARNING: Do not fry ice- or water-covered foods, doing so may cause the hot oil to splatter. Frozen foods should always be thawed completely and patted dry before frying to avoid causing
    the HOT OIL TO SPLATTER.

  8. Wipe or pat moist foods dry prior to frying. Food should always be as dry as possible before placing it into the oil.

  9. Do not overfi ll the basket. Overfi lling may cause the oil temperature to drop below the required cooking temperature resulting in improperly fried food.

  10. To preheat the fryer, turn the Temperature Control to the desired temperature and the Timer Control clockwise to the ON position. The Power and Heating Indicator lights will turn on. When the Heating Indicator light shuts off, the oil  is preheated to the set temperature.

  11. When ready to use, turn the Timer Control clockwise to set the time.

  12. Once the basket is fi lled and the oil preheated, gently lower the basket into the oil and place the lid on the fryer.

  13. To maintain the proper temperature, the Heating Element may repeatedly turn on and off while frying, as shown by the Heating Indicator light.

  14. An alert will sound, and the fryer will shut off when the time has run out.

  15. Remove food within 60 seconds to avoid food soaking up excess oil.

WARNING: Do not touch the fryer controls while food is frying. Hot steam may escape through the fi lter and sides of lid causing burns or other possible injuries.

USAGE TIPS

  • Never operate the fryer with less than the minimum required level of oil.
  • Do not mix different types of oil when frying.
  • You may need to preheat the fryer for 10-15 minutes depending on the desired temperature.
  • When frying two or more foods, fry the food that requires the lowest temperature fi rst.
  • Pre-cooked foods generally require less frying time than the same food when it is fried raw.
  • Replace the oil after every 10-15 uses or sooner if the oil becomes dark, cloudy or thick, or if the oil gives off an unpleasant smell.

FRYING GUIDE

The frying times listed below are only an estimate and do not account for variations in thickness, size, and other differences in food. Please adjust the cooking time accordingly. Foods that are freshly battered, rather than breaded, may stick to the basket. These foods may be fried directly in the oil tank by gently lowering and raising the food using a heat-resistant slotted spoon.Vexon-TSAF40DH-Large-Electric-Deep-Fryer-fig-4

Frying french fries a second time makes them lighter and crispier.

AFTER THE FOOD IS FRIED:

  1. Make sure to turn the Temperature and Timer Controls to the OFF position and unplug the deep fryer.

  2. Once food is done cooking, remove the lid, and hang the basket on the hook to let excessive oil drip into the oil tank. Never touch the basket after frying as it will remain hot. Always use the basket handle.
WARNING: Removing the lid will release hot steam. Use extreme care when handling. Keep face and bare skin away from the steam release areas.

  3. Remove the basket and use tongs to place the food on a plate lined with dry paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  4. Transfer the food to your serving dish and dispose of the paper towels.

  5. Unplug the power cord and allow the fryer, lid and baskets to cool.
WARNING: Never attempt to move, clean, or disassemble the fryer until it has completely cooled.

CLEANING YOUR DEEP FRYER

  1. Remove the lid and basket.
WARNING: Be certain that the fryer has returned to room temperature and is disconnected from the power outlet before cleaning. Oil retains its temperature for a long period after use. Do not attempt to carry or move the deep fryer while the oil is hot.

  2. Once the fryer is cool, remove the Control Panel Assembly and attached Heating Element and allow to drain.

  3. Remove the oil tank and pour the oil into either a proper storage or disposal container. When re-using oil, it is recommended that you fi lter the oil after each use.

  4. The lid, oil tank, and baskets are all dishwasher safe. They may also be washed in warm soapy water.

  5. The oil tank and housing may be immersed in warm, soapy water to clean.

  6. The Control Panel & Heating Element should be wiped clean with absorbent power towels. Then use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the heating element.
WARNING: Do not immerse the control panel assembly (except the heating element) in water or any liquid.

  7. Thoroughly dry all parts before reassembling or storage.
Note: Do not use abrasive materials or abrasive cleaners or chemical cleaners to clean the interior or exterior of the unit or any of its components.

CARING FOR YOUR FILTER
The aluminum mesh fi lter may be cleaned by immersing the lid in warm, soapy water or by placing the lid into the dishwasher. Allow the fi lter to dry completely before the next use. If the fi lter is wet, water may drip into the oil tank and cause the hot oil to splatter.

SHORT CORD

  1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks of injuring yourself from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  2. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if you exercise caution during use.
  3. If a longer cord is used, please note the following:
    • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance.
    • The power cord should not be allowed to drape over an edge or across an open space to reduce the risk of injury from becoming entangled in or tripping over the cord.

STORING YOUR DEEP FRYER

Always allow the fryer to cool completely before cleaning, moving, or storing. To preserve the life of your deep fryer, once it has cooled, complete the following steps:

  1. Filter and store 1. or properly dispose of the oil.
  2. Clean all parts as described in CLEANING YOUR DEEP FRYER.
  3. Allow all parts to dry completely.
  4. Store the fryer in a safe, dry location, out of the reach of children.

POLARIZED PLUG
If this appliance has a polarized plug (meaning one blade is wider than the other one), please follow the instructions below: To reduce the risk of electrical shock, the plug will only plug into an outlet one way. If the plug does not slide easily into the outlet, fl ip the plug over and try again. If it still does not fi t, stop and contact a licensed electrician. Do not force the plug into the outlet or modify the plug or outlet in any way.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the deep fryer does not work, please follow the instructions below:

NOTE: If the deep fryer was in use when it stopped working, the overheat sensor had likely activated to protect the unit from damage. When that happens, please allow at least 30 minutes before proceeding.

  1. Remove the plastic restart tool affixed to the back of Control 1. Panel Assembly. In the event the tool is not present, you may use any non-conductive tool of the appropriate size. DO NOT use anything metal or anything sharp, doing so will put you at risk of electric shock.
  2. Next, find the restart switch opening on the back of the Control Panel Assembly, just above and to the right of the power connection.
  3. Using the restart tool, push the restart switch one time.
  4. Attach the power cord to the deep fryer first. Make sure the power cord is plugged in with “THIS SIDE UP” facing up and make sure the magnet plug is making a good connection. Next, plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  5. Turn the Temperature and Timer Controls to their maximum settings and the fryer will turn on.
  6. If the unit does not turn on, please test your outlet to confirm that the fuse or circuit breaker is still working.
  7. If the unit’s heat sensor caused the fryer to shut off and you have waited 30 minutes, please let the fryer continue to cool down and repeat steps 1 through 5 every 15 minutes until it turns on. To protect the deep fryer, the heat sensor will not allow the unit to turn on again until it registers a safe temperature.

If following the above steps does not resolve the problem, do not attempt any repairs. Contact our customer service department at [email protected]
