Product Usage Instructions
Find a Suitable Location
Depressions, Edges, Wave Surface, Double Curvature:
Locate a flat hard area without double curvature, edges, waves, etc.
Support It
Mounting:
Mount it on surfaces that fully support the back, ensuring no unsupported or unfixed corners, edges, or cables.
Leave Space Around It
Leave at least 5mm around all edges to other solar panels or other objects.
Do Not Install It Under
Do not install solar panels under glass windows, ropes, or anything that may cause permanent partial shadow, as it can cause cell damage.
Repetitive Movements
Never hang the solar panel and/or allow it to be exposed to repetitive movements or vibrations.
No Load Bearing
Never allow the panel to be load-bearing if not fully supported on the back.
Maximum Recommended Curvature
Maximum Curvature:
Longitudinal or Transverse Curvature – Never Both
FAQ
Q: What should I do if my solar panel is exposed to repetitive movements?
A: If your solar panel is exposed to repetitive movements, try to secure it in place or relocate it to a more stable position to prevent damage.
Q: Can I install the solar panel on a flexible surface?
A: The FOLD SERIES is designed for temporary use and can be attached to a canvas. For other series like TOUGH(+/++), MAXA & NORDIC SERIES, it is recommended to fit them on a supportive surface for optimal performance and longevity.
ALLOWED USE OF SOLAR PANEL
WARNING: This guide is intended to help you choose the best location for your solar panel. It is not a substitute for the instruction manual. For safe installation and use, refer to the manual provided with your solar panel. Not following the manual risks warranty voiding and panel damage.
ALLOWED USE OF SOLAR PANEL
Inappropriate use might lead to permanent damage of the solar panel, and void the warranty.
MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
FIND A SUITABLE LOCATION
Locate a flat hard area without double curvature, edges, waves etc.
SUPPORT IT
Mount it on surfaces that fully supports the back, ensuring no unsupported or unfixed corners, edges, or cable.
LEAVE SPACE AROUND IT
Leave at least 5mm around all edges to other solar panels or other objects.
DO NOT INSTALL IT UNDER
Do not install solar panels under glass windows, ropes or anything that may cause permanent partial shadow, as it can cause cell damage.
REPETITIVE MOVMENTS
Never hang the solar panel and/or allow it to be exposed to repetitive movements or vibrations.
NO LOAD BEARING
Never allow panel to be load bearing if not fully supported on the back.
MAX RECOMMENDED CURVATURE
MAXIMUM CURVATURE
Ensure that the curvature is less than 5% by measuring the drop at the edges compared to the centre point of the solar panel.

LONGITUDINAL OR TRANSVERSE CURVATURE – NEVER BOTH
Curvatures can either be longitudinal or transverse – never both.
UNIFORM CURVATURE
Ensure the surface curvature of the solar panel is evenly distributed along its entire length, as any sharp bending can result in permanent damage to the solar cells.
MOUNTING METHODS
- A – PREFERRED METHOD:
Full size 3M adhesive. *Only if supplied by SUNBEAMsystem – included with Tough+/ Tough++ series
-
B- SECONDARY METHOD:
Flexible adhesives (only approved EN adhesives) + tooth-head spatula -
C – NOT RECOMMENDED:
Screws- Only models with premade holes
- Use screws with MAX 3.4mm diameter
- Washers must move freely
- Do not overtighten
- Do not combine screws and glue, choose one method
- Not following the above voids warranty
APPROVED ADHESIVES
Sikasil WS 605 S – silicone based
Sikaflex 298 FC – polyurethane based
Zettex MS Polymer 25 – polymer based
Only use the approved selection of adhesive types listed above. Using other
types of adhesive will void your warranty.
Are these adhesives not available in your country? Please contact
SUNBEAMsystem to discuss a suitable alternative BEFORE installation.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION – CONNECTIONS
EXPLANATION OF PARALLEL AND SERIAL CONNECTIONS
When connecting multiple solar panels to a single MPPT you can connect them in
parallel or series. Parallel setups are DIY-friendly while serial connections
require expertise (except with SUNBEAMsystem Shadow Optimized – IQ panels).
For 12V systems, we recommend connecting panels in parallel.
SOLAR PANELS MODELS
Only TOUGH and CARBON panels can be installed in series. Check the max amount
(!). Maxa and Nordic panels are not suitable for serial connection.
Only panels of the EXACT SAME MODEL can be put in series.
CARBON SERIES
Carbon panels with ‘Shadow Optimized IQ’ feature a unique built-in microprocessor diode eliminating power loss and allowing for direct serial connection.
